I mean just the artwork alone is stunning! Thank you so much for this arc! I hope this develops more with the story!

The Dream 1. Jude Script by Jean Dufaux Art by Guillem March is a little strange.  It has Jude, he's gorgeous, and wants to be in films and so on, but is currently a sex worker, performing live sex acts.  He gets asked to be in a film, and is thrilled.  There are Yakuza, beautiful women, and a surreal quality to this.

It's a weird story, and one that not everyone is going to enjoy.

The Dream 1. Jude  was published on 21st November 2018, and is available from  Amazon .

Very good illustrations, though not neccessarily a story that left me desperate to read anything that comes afterwards. Plenty of sex and nudity to help sell it, but it's not going to make my Top 10 of anything for the storyline itself.

A reading that will not change your life, but that will give you a good reading time.

Graphically incredible.

An odd Faustian type story that tries and fails to be sexy. Some of the best art I've seen out of Guillem March. I wish his art still looked like this instead of the leathery mummified look of his characters now.

An intriguing series opener, but one that doesn't fully convince that the rest of the story will be nearly as good as it wants to be. We start with one of those Fabio-styled lunks with long dark hair that only women in stories like this find attractive, who bizarrely is asked by a fit bird to quit his live sex act and be in a film about Keats alongside Johnny Depp. He's OK with this, especially when the Yakuza get his colleague out of the picture, and he's also ordered to be a bit of shagmeat by an even fitter bird, who's the Yakuza's daughter. Oh, and the film studio fixer first fit bird employs is a one-eyed bloke with too many connections, and the audition studio seems to have a magic artwork, full of Minotaur/fit bird sex images, oh, and there's a succubus doing the rounds of everyone, and – yes, you get the gist – this is a full-on mish-mash of ideas, that just cannot hang on to anything coherent. The way the book ends (and the fact that in the two and a half years since we've not seen any sign of a sequel) seems to suggest any follow-up would be starting from a different place altogether, meaning this magical wet dream of a metaphor for fame, glamour and Hollywood is going to be more hard work than it's worth to get a grip on what it wants to convey. This is so weird it's in the intriguing stack, but does have a tendency to slip off and head towards the 'too weird' pile.

No what I thought it would be. I was expecting more and my expectations where not met. Maybe if I try something else of theirs in a future date.

The dream is a visually gripping graphic novel that feeds into the question, "How can you tell if you're signing a deal with the devil?" A sexy graphic novel that plays with reality, ego, and sinister forces, who doesn't love that? The cliffhanger ending leaves the reader wanting more while setting up the story for the next installment. Well done.

This was a nice, well-written and also well-drawn comic that made me read all other comics that I already ordered and owned. It has a nice and intriguing action, and a SUPER cool adventure. I loved this comic so much! (Also the cover!)

2.25 Stars

This book was a whole lot of WTF and the story line was all over the place, I'm not even sure what the point of it all was. Possibly had to do with the underworld with a whole lot of nudity, sex, creepy tattoos and some secret agency. The only thing that kept me interested was the art style which used faded colours and dark undertones.

I liked the dreamy, surreal art style, though it was a lot more risque than I had expected. A fairly entertaining read though I was a little confused by the fast moving storyline - I think this not helped by the translation which is perhaps a little clumsy. A different style of graphic novel for me but not unenjoyable!

A really good graphic novel. The artwork is good and the story is gripping. It ends on a cliff hanger with too many unanswered questions but at least this wets the appetite for more.

Sexy and stunning in its scope of story telling and artwork. I have to admit I really enjoyed this story, it went far beyond the sexiness of the book and dove deeper into the characters and tale itself. Worth following for further issues. Another Europe comic that shows how different the dedication to story is and how much more mature these comics are!

The Dream is a gorgeously rendered Graphic Novel by Jean Dufaux with art by Guillem March. The narrative is straightforward and reads like a noir-style tale with the twist that the central character, Jude, is a live sex performer who wants to be done with that form of entertainment and move on into cinema. Like every noir tale ever told, there is, of course, a boss that needs to be dealt with in order for our character to move on. Except that is where this narrative diverges and goes into the world of the supernatural with some interesting characters. For those who enjoy noir tales and great art, The Dream is something that makes you feel as if you've read this or seen this somewhere but, much like Jude, you never have really experienced this, it only seems that way.
Guillem March's characters are both completely European and Manga influenced. The colors are beautifully rendered like a dream and nightmare in some scenes and give you that full-on cinema vibe while showing off March's use of line and composition. The characters all have idiosyncrasies that you can tell March spent hours and hours sketching in order to have them behave the way they do in as few gestures as possible. You can almost smell and touch the world he creates with his watercolor style.

A very surreal and interesting story with artwork that compliments the story extremely well. You feel like there is a lot going on just below the surface.

The best you can find in this comic is the artwork, for sure. It's unique and really pretty, and it helps with dark and mysterious atmosphere that you can find in the story. However, the plot was not that good and entertaining, at least for me. So, for someone who likes dark adult novels with slow pacing, this might be the one you'll enjoy!

This book is a modern fantasy story of temptation, tattoos, and devils. The art and content is very adult, focusing on sexual encounters and pornography. The art is unique and very well done, and the story is engaging with some twists and turns. It seemed to be empowering to women. This could be purchased by libraries with active adult graphic novel borrowers.

Jude being an onstage star for performing sex-acts in an off Broadway club at he is scouted for something more. The IAP wants to see if he can past the tests to become one of their clients
The only problem is he's involved with the daughter of one of the biggest Chinese mafia bosses and she dosen't put her toys in the bin until she is well and truly done with them.
The best thing about this comic was The Strange, she was such a fascinating character and i want to know more about her i would happily read a comic about her adventures.
The overall i liked the art work, i like one of the characters and want more of her and i would maybe be interested in more of the story depending were it goes.
I wanted it to be a little longer and i would have liked more information about the recruiter for IAP, also about the company in general.

Thanks to Europe Comics and Netgalley for this digital ARC.

I find I have very mixed feelings on this book. The mystery and intrigue of our narrator's world is far more compelling than that of the primary protagonist in this book. Having said that I find the main character and his journey fairly boring because he is sucked into a world that he doesn't try to comprehend and so he is bland.
