Britain....the Roman Empire....Hadrian's Wall....so much going on and from an interesting perspective. I really enjoyed this book and was sad when it ended. I look forward to reading the next installment.

I loved this well written and entertaining historical fiction.
Postomus is a great character, well developed and interesting. He lives between two different worlds and this makes him even more interesting.
The historical background is vivid and well researched, I appreciated the descriptions and the details.
The plot flows and it's well crafted.
It was an engrossing read that I highly recommend.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I enjoyed this book. It follows a Roman army surgeon, Postumus, through his times in his native Britain in the north between the two walls. As historical fiction it walked a fine balance between the complicated tribal mix at the time and not overwhelming the reader with too much detail. I liked the main character, Postumus, as it was interesting to see his struggles between war and healing, and between science and superstition. As a native romanised Brit, Postumus gets to see both sides of the argument and has a perpetual foot in both camps.

I enjoyed Hunter's depiction of the Roman Empire. The writing was fascinating and made you feel you were living in the time period. Hunter did a great job with character development. I look forward to the next in the sequel.

A wall at the edge of the World follows the career of Postumus Justinius Corvus, army surgeon, assigned to the sixth legion Victrix at Eburacum (present day York) not far from Hadrian's wall. This part of Britain at that time was subject to constant harassment by marauding tribes, none more worthy of the name than the infamous Picts. As Corvus is of dual nationality (his mother from England and his father from Rome/Italy) his loyalties can at times be somewhat ambiguous. His family still manage and harvest a large estate in Northern Britain and he has befriended a number of English tribesmen in particular Lord Galt, leader of the king’s household.

The second part of the novel involves skirmishes with warring tribes and a romantic element with the delectable Claudia Silva. In conclusion the author uses her impressive knowledge of the Roman Empire at that time to create an enjoyable but in no way outstanding read. Many thanks to the good people at netgalley for a gratis copy in exchange for an honest review and that is what I have written.

I am still reading this book, just short of halfway through, must say really enjoying it. First time I have read any of this authors work , I'm impressed great story line nice touch as you look into the background & history of the main characters life & famiy. Well written nice but of action at the start to draw you in. A great book and nice for the central character to have a different role in the Legion makes a rather pleasant change , book flows along well chapter to chapter and has me wondering about the main characters British lineage, I sat lad night and decided to finish the chapter I had started before bed two chapters later I had to put the book down and go to bed, Think this highlights how good vs tea it is ,
