Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

With samplers, I always add loads more books to be my TBR and this was no exception. This was a great introduction to debut authors and I am ready to get stuck in. So many of these books were added to my TBR. The biggest problem however, was the lack of a clear contents page or being able to easily navigate through the book.

This Sampler was great. It's amazing to realise these are debut novels!! I certainly added to my TBR list. The only thing I wished for was a contents page. The titles weren't clear and so I needed to use the ISBN to find the titles on an online bookshop website.
Thank you Orion for the exciting sampler.

Loved teh idea of the sample, out of four novels, All in her head by Nikki Smith was the most appealing, although I would give all of them a try - even The Boy's Club by Erika Katz, although that sample did not give me much of a feel of the book . Also, I'd love to see more info about all the titles, as immediately after finishing reading the samples I also wanted to know what the book was about.

A selection of Crime and Thriller Debuts, 4 book samples here.

BOOK ONE: A well written, engaging start which has intrigued me enough to add it to my want to read list. I’m assuming it’s based on an unreliable narrator which seems to be so popular at the moment, but is hard to execute well, so I do hope it’s as good as this excerpt suggests.

BOOK TWO: A sample with action right from the start. I would be very interested in reading this book as it seems to have an easy to read style and good pace.

BOOK THREE: I don’t think I would personally choose to read this book based on this sample. There wasn’t enough here to grab my attention and as crime isn’t a particular genre I read a lot of, I would prefer to move on to something that would engage me straight away.

BOOK FOUR: The least interesting of the four books to me. The writing style was not engaging for me and I felt it was a bit flat.

Thanks for the opportunity to read these.

Many thanks to the author, publishers and Netgalley for a free ARC of this ebook. It's a collection of sample chapters taken from upcoming and very recent thriller novels.. The samples. give a reasonable insight into each of the novels and its a worthwhile investment if this is your preferred genre.

What a great way to introduce new books and authors due for publication. I really enjoyed reading these extracts, giving us the readers a taste for new novels.

Hope net galley do more of this and for other genre too.

The first pages are absolutely intriguing. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Also, I’m a big fan of the writing style!

What a good idea to give us a taste of several books. So much easier to decide if it appeals before committing to reading and reviewing the whole book.
What I like most is that some of the books would not have been my normal choices but have now encouraged me to go on and read more by the author.

I love the opportunity to read a few chapters of some upcoming books and some had me gripped from the first page and others, I needed to know more to make a decision.

A really clever idea to introduce readers to some new material and I hope there is more of this coming!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I like the samplers, they give enough of a flavour of the books to give you a good idea of the writing sample before you commit to the whole book. Well worth a read!!

Enjoyable Preview....
Enjoyable preview of what’s to come from publishing house Orion in the Crime/ Thriller genre. Both useful and entertaining. Some exciting prospects here and reading the sampler, for me at least, is more useful than the promotional blurb on a book when deciding whether to read. Many thanks, a great idea.

A fantastic idea to get a taster of four crime thrillers from Orion.

Book 1 seemed like a really interesting domestic or psychological thriller. The main character was unusual and was obviously dealing with trauma caused by an incident her ex.

Book 2 had a really explosive start. Action right from the first couple of pages when two sisters are attacked in their home. This one was really left on a cliffhanger and I’m desperate to read on and find out what happens.

Book 3 is about a detective who is hunting the ‘Neon’ serial killer. It sounds like a very unique storyline, and I’d love to read more.

Book 4 is a crime novel set in a law firm. From the sneak peak it’s difficult to say where this one is going.

I would say that out of the four books - Book 1 is the one I would pick out to read first but I will definitely be adding all of them to my TBR.

This sampler contains the openings of 4 new crime/thriller novels. For me, the police one by G S Locke looks very promising and right up my street!

A Crime and Thriller Debut Sampler from Orion Publishing Group!

This sampler includes excerpts from four crime/thriller books of debut authors. I read each sample and was encouraged by all four! Great beginnings that are intriguing and some packed a punch indeed.

Three titles have been published late 2019/early 2020 and are available now ("All in Her Head", Nikki Smith; "Remember Me", Amy McLellan; "Neon", GS Locke). The fourth debut is due out in August 2020, titled "The Boys Club" by Erica Katz, and is available now to request on Net Galley as of this review date!
