I’ve always wanted to read a JP novel. There are so many of them and be sells so well that j thought I was really missing out on something but after a few chapters I just couldn’t get into it and decided it wasn’t really for me I’m afraid.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
James Patterson is a saleable author-he does tend to churn the books out a bit. This one was a typical JP book, still full of intrigue and a great ending. A recommended read.

A new book in the Maximum Ride series.

I remember this series. I loved those books and read them all. Initially I wasn't sure about introducing a new book so much later. But this one was great and I really enjoyed it.

The book is about Hawk, the daughter of Max and Fang. It has all the same characters, only older. An exciting story line. Good writing. Characters great - it was so good to meet them all again. The story was more dystopian than the older ones. Hawk is great - totally kick-ass tough and irreverent, just like her parents.

What a great read. I read it all in one sitting. I can't wait for the next book. I loved it and totally recommend it.

Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the authors for sending me this ARC.

I rate this book 4 stars
Maximum Ride lost her fight to save the world. But from the ashes of the old world, a phoenix has risen… she calls herself Hawk.
Disclaimer l hadn't read any of The Maximum Ride books first .
A fantastic and a fast paced read that made me keep turning the pages.
The story weaves between Hawk and Max.
I found it imaginative, interesting and adventurous, like nothing lve read before!
Highly recommended
Thanks to Netgalley, The Author and The Publisher for my chance to read and review this.

You can read this either as an independent book or as part of the series. Either way it is a powerful combination of Sci-fi fantasy and the more normal down-to-earth struggles of a teenager.
Sci-fi fantasy has to have a really powerful link with realism for it to be believable enough for me. Patterson ensures ‘Hawk’ has just that with its descriptive passages and emotional narratives.
I really enjoyed reading this as an adult and would certainly recommend it to teenagers and young adult readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Young Arrow (Penguin Random House) for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t enjoy this book and I really wanted to, it just didn’t feel necessary or add anything new for me :/

This book is such an amazing continuation of the Maximum Ride series I'm so excited to see that that series can now continue with this new series.

Maximum Ride is a book series that has always been close to my heart and to see the Next Generation spawn from that is amazing I was not let down at all

A fast paced and highly entertaining dystopia that kept me hooked till the last page.
Mr Patterson never fails to deliver and this story was no exception.
Great storytelling and character development, a fascinating world building.
It's strongly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, made me want to go back and read all the maximum ride books again. The writing is familiar and easy to read and the overall story engaging.

Hawk an orphan left by her parents in the City of Dead, spent 10 years waiting for them to come and get her. She is waiting on a street corner every day since she was 5 years old holding to hope that they will return. In a city full of violence she learnt to survive and build a family by looking after children with gifts. She herself has a secret... she has wings and feels free only when she soars in the sky. One day she loses everything, her family is taken and as she embarks on a rescue mission she meets a prisoner who clames to be her father. And then she finds the Flock and finally her life changes forever and so does the world she knows.

I've been meaning to read a James Patterson novel for ages - I thought they must be popular for a reason. It turns out that after reading one, I have NO IDEA why they are so popular. Everything about this was bad! Characterisation, world building, writing, everything. It was a quick read - under 3 hours - which is a good thing because I don't think I could have read it otherwise. Definitely an author for me to avoid!

Max is back!
If you're a fan of the Maximum Ride series and, like me, have really missed Max and the flock, then put your glasses on (unless you don't wear any), grab a box of tissues and get ready for a rollercoaster of thrills.
Fast-paced (as you'd expect), full of surprises (as you'd expect), with villains (ditto) and nail-biting situations ("), it's everything I wanted...
...and more... you'll never guess who Hawk is. [squeal] I should have guessed.

I hadn't realised that this was a young adult book and a follow on to Maximum Ride and her Flock series but that in no way detracts from the story . The Author always manages to craft his stories beautifully , with well developed characters and fast paced events .

A young girl abandoned on the streets , Hawk , lives with her gang of misfits .......always waiting for the return of her parents . She has managed to keep her secret from those around her , but the fact she has wings can no longer be denied , life around her is now becoming much more dangerous .
Will she ever be reunited with her parents - will she survive to see them again ?

This a well crafted dystopian book , full of action ....... showing the growth and development of our central character with great empathy . I will now look forward to reading the previous series which lead to this new character .

I was given an arc of the book by the Publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This is one of those genres that is either a hit or a miss for me - but this was a hit.

I enjoyed reading the book. It wasn’t very difficult to get through and was a welcome change from other books I’ve recently read. The characters are interesting (and there’s just enough mystery to keep them interesting throughout the book as well) and it was action-packed from start to finish. Most of the chapters end on what could be considered a slight cliffhanger and it left me wanting to continue - for me, this was rather important as most of the chapters are pretty short.

One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the writing style - I have a slight preference for first-person narration and it worked perfectly. The pace was perfect despite the short chapters - it meant that the story didn’t linger too long on things that did not matter. Overall, the story was rarely ever boring or dragging. The fact that the narrative switched between people definitely added to the experience.

No matter the age, readers will definitely enjoy this book!

This was a "so-so" read for me I'm afraid.

As it follows on from the "Maximum Ride" series, from the point of view of finding out what happened to certain characters it's worth a read.

However if you're new to the Maximum Ride concept, I'd give it a miss (read the original books instead) - it felt like this book had been written for purely commercial reasons to be honest, which is a shame.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC. All opinions my own.

Another gripping, fast paced book by the master story-teller himself. James Patterson introduces us to characters so quickly and the action is non-stop. I loved the Maximum Ride series and this is a perfect introduction to a new set of characters intertwined with old favourites. The book does not depend on any prior knowledge of the previous series but will encourage readers to go back and explore them I am sure. As books for YA and those who are reluctant readers these books are perfect. I can't wait to go on the next adrenaline filled, emotional rollercoaster ride with Hawk.

Huge gratitude to the publisher, author and NetGalley for allowing me to read this copy.

Honestly i did not like this book at all. The writing was so simplistic and i hated the way it just constantly cut from one perspective to the next, I like dual perspective books however when each chapter is 2 pages long and one chapter its hawks perspective and the next is the perspective of max it meant that i could not get into any of the characters stories and backgrounds. Some of the chapters could easily have been made into one chapter and explained a bit more. Also the plot of this book was so easy to guess. i have not read anything by this author before and i wont be reading anything else.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! I haven't read the Maximum Ride series but that in no way affected my review of Hawk as the book works really well as a standalone. I very rarely delve into YA and felt this was really just a simple palate cleanser of an in-between book, no convoluted plot to focus on and quick, easy chapters that were pretty bite-sized as per Patterson's usual writing. I didn't find anything hugely exciting about this book but it was a very fast-paced YA action story that I breezed through with no major problems, just no major hooks to catch me either! I enjoyed the characters well enough (though wished for far more development in some) and didn't mind the slightly cheesy vibe of the writing at times. A nice summer read!
