The family vineyard is in danger of being lost and the patriarch is suffering from a grave medical condition. The Alvarez sisters must pull together to salvage the family business plus stave off an avaricious take over plan. The plot was good, if not predictable. The characters were decent. The ending was satisfactory.

Carmen comes home to help with her family winery. Her father was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Her sisters call her in a panic when they realize that the winery is doing so badly that her poor father is in debt and at risk of losing his winery.

When Carmen gets back home, she immediately forms a love/hate relationship with the man next door , Evan. He is trying to buy her father’s winery.
She seems to see Evan as everything that’s wrong in her world. She hates that her dad might lose his beloved winery and she blames a lot of that on Evan. Evan is very wealthy from his previous career in technology. She hates that he can throw his money around and just try to buy whatever he wants. And she also thinks that he could not possibly really care about his winery or her dad’s winery.

She’s very attracted to him and thinks she would like him under different circumstances. If they weren’t each other’s competitor, maybe they could have been perfect together, she thinks.

But because they are competition, they both start acting very childishly trying to win. I really didn’t like the way they handled it in the beginning. Both of them had weddings booked at their respective winery. His happened first and Carmen made every attempt to sabotage it. When Evan found out what Carmen did, he made every attempt to sabotage the wedding at her winery. I really didn’t like that because I’m supposed to believe they are both decent people, what decent person would ruin someone else’s wedding day? I don’t think either one felt any remorse over it either. I was incredibly grateful that it only happened at the beginning of the book.

I liked Carmen and her sisters’ ideas to get people to help at the winery. I thought that was clever and entertaining and it brought the sisters closer.

The book didn’t focus on the sisters much, I appreciated that because I felt it made sense for it to tell one story at a time. This looks like it’s going to be a series, so I bet each gets her own book.

I really liked the sideline characters Stella and Paulo.

I got to read an early ebook edition from NetGalley. Thanks!

I really enjoyed reading this book. A story of coming to America for the American dream. In this case a very successful endeavor and wonderfully told. You will fall in love with each character, the town of Chelan, Washington, and wine! How do you rescue your fathers empire, without loosing yourself, or the most important thing in the world to him, his vineyard. Setting aside your life to take care of family no matter what needs to be done, and at all cost. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to pre-read this great summer read. Fall in love with this story as you relax with a glass of wine. Enjoy!

Firstly thank you to Bookouture & Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this advance publication copy of Summer at Orchard House.

This book made me feel such a bizarre range of emotions, first I went from struggling to actually get into the book, at first I was slightly lost between characters, I felt I couldn't differentiate between which character was speaking, however once I had settled in I found I was completely hooked and I ended up reading the entirety in one evening.

I absolutely love the female lead 'Carmen' she is incredibly sassy and as plenty of fire in her belly along with a fair amount of stubbornness and resilience. After discovering her families business and her Father's pride and joy is in danger she returns home to Chelan, although she has grown up on the vineyard she hadn't learnt as much as you would think for someone who had spent the majority of her life there with a parents that were so passionate about they do. She quickly discovers her love for Blue Hills and makes it her mission to save her Father's land from being sold to the latest 'Big Shot' in town.

The story is about friendship, family, love, romance and never giving up. The way Ellyn Oaksmith describes the location is so perfect that you can imagine yourself being there, from the description of the vine fields, the lake, orchard house along with wonderful descriptions of the characters that you can instantly warm to. It is a , perfect along with a glass of wine in the late evening sun. I eagerly anticipate the next Ellyn Oaksmith's next book.

She engaged the help of her Dad and her sisters to do this She even got over on Evan a few times, especially with the weddings. To find out how things turned out you should read the story as it A GOOD READ.

Carmen, currently working/living in Seattle leaves it all behind to go back to the family business in Lake Chelan.

What she realises when she gets there is the business has bigger problems than she first thought and that maybe her life isn’t in Seattle after all.

I found The story was beautiful, in the way the author describes the vineyard, and the surrounding area left a beautiful picture in my mind.
This book was a nice easy summers read with an combination of wine and romance.

Await the next one.

Wine? Romance? Lough out loud moments? A story with tension, beautiful and well crafted characters, high stakes and a perfect scenery? I AM IN! ALL THE WAY!
This was my first Ellyn Oaksmith read and I am hooked. Give me more any time of the day and I’ll curl up on my sofa with a massive glass of wine and a smile on my face, devouring another story.Summer at Orchard House will make you roll over laughing and it will make you cry as well. I have to admit that this book reminded me that unexpected things are always guiding us on a path we never imagined existed and also that it’s never too late to start over. Ellyn Oaksmith created Orchard House in such detail that I could just close my eyes and imagine myself on the vineyard sipping that wine and wondering around the house from room to room, discovering a family history that means so much for the Alvarez’s.
The strong connection between the sisters, their unconditional love for their father and their determination to stick together and save the winery are amazing and the romantic tension between the two main characters, Carmen and Evan is just charming. I smiled as they got together and I wept every time they pushed each other away, always hoping that love will win in the end.

Summer at Orchard House is the perfect lockdown read.

This is a beautiful book, full of passion and deep feelings. I enjoyed the rivalry of the main characters, a great enemies to friends arc that ended very nicely. In my head they were going to share the vineyard, but maybe that's going to be in Book 2!

Carmen leaves behind her life in Seattle to help save the family vineyard and quickly meets their neighbor, and vineyard rival, Evan. There is an instant attraction, but since Evan is trying to convince Carmen's father to see the vineyard to him Carmen treats him as an enemy. I loved this book. I love an enemies-to-lovers romance novel, but this one was more of a enemies/neighbors/sort-of-friends to lovers books. I loved reading about Carmen's family, her father's struggles to start a vineyard, and Evan's lonely childhood. And there's a dramatic twist towards the end that I really loved.

Woohoo Loved This Book! I’ve found a new author to love. Her writing was so full of life, so descriptive, you learn about wine and grape vines, a romance that is a slow burn, so many laugh out loud moments. The main character Carmen is one sassy Latina. I loved the combination of Carmen with her sisters and her best friend. I can’t wait for Ellyn Oaksmith’s next book!

I received this book as a free kindle advance reader’s uncorrected copy from Netgalley.com. My

Description as found on Netgalley:
The Alvarez sisters have grown up and moved away—but now their father is in crisis, the family business is collapsing and it’s time to go home to Lake Chelan.
Carmen Alvarez is the reliable one. When her vulnerable father’s livelihood is threatened, she’s the person her sisters call. Abandoning her job in Seattle, Carmen races home to the family vineyard her dad built up from nothing to set things straight. But soon she’s fallen back in love with the dusty sage hills, the turquoise blue lake, the fragrant June orchards… Maybe she’s not just home for the summer?
Standing in the way of Carmen’s happiness is one very attractive obstacle: new neighbor Evan Hollister, who’s after her dad’s land. He’s arrogant, entitled and spoiled—everything Carmen hates—and she is all set to have a bit of fun driving him out of town so things can get back to normal. She isn’t ready for their relationship to get complicated…
But Evan is the least of Carmen’s worries. The business is falling apart and it starts to look like Carmen might lose much more than just her pride: employees have quit, the bank keeps calling and everything her father worked so hard for is slipping away. As she is pushed to breaking point, Carmen will learn that her true family are the people who will see her through the worst of times, and that love can be found in the most unlikely of places.
A heart-warming romance about embracing the unexpected, Summer at Orchard House will make you laugh, make you cry, and remind you that it’s never too late to start again. For fans of Robyn Carr, Carolyn Brown and Debbie Macomber.

A lovely, lighthearted story about family... Carmen feels that she is needed to help save the family vineyard business. Feeling uneasy about her decision to pack up and move back to Seattle to work the family business, she soon realizes that nothing is ever easy and going back can never be the same as when you first left. The vineyard is described so beautifully, the writing in this book is so picturesque... you can almost feel as though you were there. A perfect beach and vacation read. There is much here to make you want to keep reading until the end. No spoilers... but this is truly a great read.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to review this book in advance of publication. My review is my own and is in no way required by the publisher.
