The jokes in this book are delightfully silly and guaranteed to make you smile—or laugh out loud. It’s a great book for both parents and teachers to share with the young people in their lives. Hand this book to someone to read and watch their smiles begin. The jokes are clean and suitable for all ages. This is a fun book to have on your bookshelf! This book would make a great present for someone who loves to giggle about silly jokes.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This was just great. We loved it. It was light so my boys could read away without my input but we read it so often together and loved it. They’re still quoting from it.

Who doesn't love a good, clean, silly joke? These days, with so much chaos going on we can all use a little pick me up and why not do it with a joke? We have weekly family dinners over Zoom and go around sharing jokes and riddles. Of course, since there are kids present we keep it clean and Mr. Phillips' book provides! A great joke book worth every penny if just to hear the giggles of the kids. It makes the world seem right, even if just for a moment.

This book is just what it says, a collection of jokes for children. Some are good, some are as silly as you would expect. However, there are a number of jokes in here that just seem out of step with the times, referring to items that were out of date in my childhood and that was a very long time ago, I remember black and white tvs.

I'll be honest now there were more groans from me reading these jokes than laughs. If it was me scoring it it would be much lower. However I threw a few out at my 9 year old and she found many of them hilarious and has been sharing them with her friends online. The only problem for her was this has definitely been written for a US audience. A little editing could have made it more accessible to non US readers.

Some of the jokes would be good for younger children. However I found the jokes repetitive. Due to this repetitiveness I found the book (barrel) difficult to get through.

Fun little joke book that also includes many facts about animals in a silly joke way.

Really enjoyed going through this book. There are Bible facts and jokes over a portion at the end, which many children would rather skip unfortunately.

Well written and thank you Netgalley for my ARC

This book is defining full of "jokes" but many were just not that funny to me or my 9 yr old. He was just like, that wasn’t funny Mom or I got the “oh, realllllyyy” with a head slap reaction. Unfortunately we only made it in about 20 pages and he walked away and wasn't interested any longer.

I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I was excited to receive this book as my 2nd grader loves jokes and I saw on amazon that it was for grades 2-7. The jokes were cute and clean, but most were way above my son's head. He enjoyed the countless animal jokes, but many we had to explain to him. They were funnier to us. These are more like fun Dad jokes.

If you are looking for a wholesome joke book for a younger audience, this would be a good choice. I think this would be a good book for kids in the age range of 6-9 years old. The jokes are (mostly) easy to understand, and easy enough for kids to read the book on their own or aloud to family/friends. There are a ton of animal jokes and school related jokes.

Personally, I did not like the repetitiveness of some of the jokes. This could probably be fixed if they were mixed in a little more, instead of being one after another. A lot of them also did not seem like jokes, more like statements. I did laugh a couple of times while reading, but unfortunately, did not find a lot of content entertaining. There were a few times I was questioning why certain jokes were in the book, either because they didn't really make sense or was left saying " That's it? That's the joke?"

I do think the problems I have with this book stem from not being the target audience. Kids I have been around in the past have told jokes just like this; those "Huh, huh, did you get it? *nudgenudge*" kind of jokes. They think they are hilarious!

Overall, not my cup of tea, but would definitely consider getting for one of my younger family members.

A Barrel of Good Clean Jokes is a joke book for children with some funny jokes and some not so funny jokes. They are all child friendly jokes though. I think this book could have been made better with some illustrations spotted through the book and some knock knock jokes too as I find children always enjoy those.

Being able to share jokes with your kids is fun. There are many times that a joke had created a lasting memory for families. However, finding ones that are kid friendly is not always easy. Bob Phillips solves that with his latest joke book, A Barrel of Good Clean Jokes for Kids.

I have read many of Bob Phillips’ books, and I have always enjoyed the fact that they are clean. Too many joke books contain cuss words and innuendo that take away from the humor of the jokes. This book is aimed at kids, so some of the jokes are not going to be as funny to adults. They can still have fun by telling the jokes to their children and watching them laugh. Either way, there is plenty of enjoyment to be had with the book.

I read these jokes with my almost 8 year old and most were above her head. Some were funny but some were not. Everyone has a different sense of humor so others could find these hilarious.
Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion.

A barrel of good clean jokes for kids by Bob Phillips is an excellent compilation of clean jokes. I like the themed collection in each chapter. Will make a great gift for younger kids. Can see my under 10 niece and nephews totally enjoying this book! Also a good addition to any elementary school classroom or library.

Fun, corny jokes of all different types and subjects: sports, animals, hobby-related, job-related. Some are question/answer jokes such as:

""What has antlers and likes to be outside when it's wet? A rain deer."

Some are more in the style of fun conversations between teachers and students or parent/kid or two kids talking:

"Teacher: Tell me about the Iron Age.
Student: Sorry, I'm a little rusty on that subject."

I used my family members of various ages to test these jokes out on. It turned out to be a fun way to break up the monotony of having to stay at home/quarantine. All of them are clean and family-friendly and were mostly easy enough for the kids to understand, depending on their age of course. The adult had fun too trying to figure some of them out.

A book on jokes, some funny some not so much. It has jokes related to animals, strange breeds, insane inventions, long day at school, waiter, oddball definitions, looney riddles, elephants, why do they do that, colourful characters, whats what, from a to z, when, then, who knew, how now, where oh where, why in the world, Rob and Bob, Bible fun.

Some examples:
How does a rhinoceros cross a busy road? He uses his horn
What do you get if you spill boiling water down the rabbit hole? Hot cross bunnies
Why was the mouse crying? Because he was peeling an onion
Whats black and white and red all over? A sloppy zebra eating tomato soup
How do you make number seven even? Take away the S

This book contains a lot of one-liner or question-and-answer jokes. As is typical of children's joke books, some jokes are on this stupid side or are real groaners, but kids do like that kind of humor. The jokes are divided into sections. Several of these are about animals, but there are also some ones about school and even the Bible. There’s also a section of riddles. I did receive a review copy of this book, so I am not sure of the final format of it. But my review copy is very plain. It's basically just the jokes and separators on a page. There are no illustrations, no interesting font. There's nothing to really make the page interesting except the jokes. I hope that changes by publication time.

This was a great book filled with lots of clean jokes and punny humor. I shared it with my children during dinner. This book led to a memorable, laughter filled dinner. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this.

A whimsical book full of chuckles. Much enjoyed by mom, dad, and one eye rolling tween.

Child reports “corny but I like them.”

Good clean fun for the whole family!
