I have been seeking daily prayer books that would speak to my heart for a long time. When I discovered One-Minute Prayers or A Woman's Year I found it to fill that void. While I have read other prayer books, this one is fitting for me not only as a woman, but also it also speaks to very personal moments of hope, faithfulness times of waiting on God, purpose and so much more. It has the effect to bring moments of peace to my days.

Author Lysa Hope begins with verses of scripture to and then a prayer. By doing so, readers are encouraged to go beyond reading that one verse and become closer to God by delving into the whole chapter from which each verse comes from.. Each day that I read I grow more in my faith and in my relationship with God. It is inspiring to see that this author spent the time to share these prayers and help women on their personal journey in life. I believe that it will certainly enhance individual prayer lives of women of all ages.

This is a wonderful prayer book especially during these challenging times of Covid-19 for busy moms, front line workers, or someone that is new to prayer. It also has another benefit of being created to read year after year..

"One-Minute Prayers for a Woman's Year" would make the perfect gift for a friend, a wonderful addition to your bedside stack, or the perfect companion to your daily devotional. The prayers and blessings that Ms Lyda offers are uplifting and beautiful in their simplicity. For those who like to read a prayer before praying on their own, this book is for you.

Sadly, I found this book to be rather disappointing for a number of reasons:

Firstly there was no introduction, rather it went straight into the first prayer. Some information about the purpose of the book, how to use it etc, or even a background from the author would be valuable to the reader - especially if the book is being gifted.

Secondly, as someone who prays daily, but does not follow the Bible, I would have liked it to be made clear that each daily prayer starts with a quote from the NIV.

I also noticed that 'some material was previously published' in other books, and in honesty, it felt quite half-hearted.

These feel like very personal prayers, for example the first prayer begins "I have come to realise that as uninversal as your love is, Lord, you are very specific in how you speak to me". I was hoping that this book would be more universal in application, like 'Illuminata' by Marianne Williamson, or Sonia Choquette's 'Uplifting Prayers to Light your Way'.

It completely missed the mark for me.

This collection of prayers includes a passage from the Bible and a reflective personal prayer. It is like listening in on the author’s personal prayer time with God. It may inspire you to create your own prayers based on the Bible.
I think this book would really benefit from an introduction with hints and tips as to how the reader should use this in their daily devotions.

One-Minute Prayers for a Woman's Year. I am so appreciative of Hope Lyda's ONE-MINUTE PRAYERS FOR A WOMAN'S YEAR. Often times I want to pray more and be consistent on a daily basis. My dilemma is positioning myself to pray each day but not having the right words to say. Again and again, I routinely attempt to pray and just can't utter from my mouth what it is my heart is yearning to express. No more! Hope Lyda beautifully expresses my thoughts and feelings page after page. She has left no stone unturned and no intercession unheard. Needing encouragement? Covered. Needing Inspiration? Covered. Needing clarity of thought? Also covered. For every need, there's a supplication here for it. This book gives a whole new meaning to "the Gift that keeps on giving". Such a gem.

This book has many great verses and prayers to help you get through any day! My personal favorite was “Protector” as it was really calling to me. Such a special book to have in your collection if you are in need of a daily dose of wisdom and joy!

I highly recommend this book for everyone that is or wants to be close to God!

Handy bite sized pieces of hope. The small devotionals were perfect for reading at anytime, they didn't take any time to read but I found that the words stayed with me during the day.
This is an ideal book to help give comfort or hope in these strange times.

This is a great book. It's a great way to start your morning each day.
Each page is set out beautifully with a scripture to start and then a prayer relating to the scripture.
Each day has a theme and I think maybe having a contents page (my copy to review did not) may help the reader incase they wanted a to read a certain topic that morning instead of just following the book through.
Overall I would really recommend this book.

Hope Lyda inspires the reader with a short reading a day.with bible quotes to continue any spirtual journey.

This book is incredible! Very heart warming and touching! Each day starts with a number, subtitle, Bible verse, and prayer. It is 100% relevant to things we may be presently experiencing, have experienced in the past, or are expecting in the future. There are several days that I know I’ll go back to and read multiple times because the topic and prayer is exactly what I’ll need at the time. It covers topics such as praying to God and asking Him to help us do the things He wants rather than just the things we personally want, asking God to give us courage and insight so we don’t feel insecure or afraid to speak up, asking Him to give us inner strength, thanking Him for how much we’ve grown instead of focusing on our wrongdoings in the past, acceptance and thankfulness that even though our lives may not be what we had imagined, there is still a lot to thank and praise him for, not feeling overwhelmed by what we perceive as obligations and having the faith to know that He is with us, not feeling alone or isolated, asking him to help us navigate through life by going in the direction He wants us to go in, and so much more!
I think readers will enjoy the simplistic, yet important, way the prayers are written, how well they correlate to the verses, and most of all - how every single day is so relative to life! It’s not just random thoughts and prayers. It’s issues and feelings that we all experience at some time or another, or at the very least know someone who has. God is with us whether it’s a great day or a day when we struggle. The prayers are exactly what my heart says to God, but sometimes forget when I’m feeling troubled. It reached me on a very personal level, so reading them reminds me that I’m not alone. I think many readers will be able to relate and feel the same way. It’s such a strong reminder of how much God loves us! I highly recommend it! It didn’t take me long to recognize the significance of this because it really is that meaningful and special! In ages long past, people had to travel, follow Jesus and His disciples on foot, wrestle throngs of people, plead and shout to get their voices heard, or to present their offerings to priests and prophets alike to ask for blessings and prayers.

In this present day and age, regardless of how humans may be confined and forced to stay within their compounds for fear of viruses, God is already prepared.

Technology is the present day and age’s weapon used to counter distances, lack of physical materials and a medium for believers around the world to get hold of God’s words at the convenience of electronic and mobile devices.

I love how easy it is to search for words in an ebook when you need resources and God’s own words in your area of prayer as provided in this book. And yes, this is a delicate book dedicated to women who have prayer needs and one that I will use.

The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. There are moments in life when we turn to pray but can’t find the words. This book is pure gold for such moments. These beautiful prayers give us a scaffold on which to shape our conversations with our Heavenly Father and help to develop a deeper intimacy with our Creator and King,

I absolutely adore this book. Every woman should have this laying by their coffee maker in the morning or even by their bedside. Beginning the day with a short prayer has been one of the most uplifting parts of my day since reading this book. Each prayer coincides with a scripture so that the reader can understand where in the bible the theme of the day is located. I will definitely recommend adding The One-Minute Prayers for a Woman's Year book to every bookshelf.

Quick, concise, perfect to start your day. Very uplifting.
