I have absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish. It was so well written and flowed nicely from chapter to chapter. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters especially the two sisters, seeing how they interacted with each other and learning of their stories which were both so very different to each other.

I think Julie was my favourite of the two sisters, I felt and related to her in more ways than I did with the other one. Truly felt for her to, with all that she had to go through with Patrick her husband.

I loved the premise of the story, of their Nan’s secret clever plot/plan to get the two estranged sisters back together with a view to repairing their relationship. Lots of drama and emotions of varying degrees. It had me turning the pages very quickly indeed.

New author to me, but I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to read more of her books in the future.

An emotional book that doesn't shy away from difficult issues. I was fascinated by the story of the two sisters which worked really well by their stories being told in alternating chapters so that you always got the full picture. The characters were well defined and you really felt for them and the difficulties they faced while getting to know each other again after so many years and I am looking forward to future books in the series.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would ever... This book made you feel like you were a third sister who was eavesdropping on the lives of the other two sisters..

Julie and Cassie are sisters, but lived two different lives. Summers were special for them, as it is the only time they spend together. Years have passed and the two don't even speak anymore. Their grandmother passed away and her will states that they spend one summer together and then her home is theirs. It seems pretty impossible that all the hurt they have faced can be pushes aside for the summer.

THE SUNSET SISTERS was a captivating and emotional book that I happily lost myself in from start to finish. I really enjoyed the alternating POV style and how the story was woven together by each sister. The writing was crisp and easy to read and all of the characters (both main and secondary) were well developed.

I will certainly be picking up the next book in this series and look forward to reading more from Cecilia Lyra in the future.

This is a story of sisterhood and finding your way back to love despite brokenness, heartache and a total breakdown of trust in the people closest to you.
There were so many complex characters and layers in this story. I couldn't put it down.

I did enjoy this book but at times I got a bit muddled between the characters and which relationship was whose.
The basic premise is Cassie and Julie are half sisters who were best friends every summer when they stayed at their grandmothers house. When she died they can only inherit the house if they both stay there for a month. The catch is they haven’t spoken to each other since a fallout when they were in their late teens.
The book was written in alternating chapters from each sisters a POV. Both sisters have relationship issues but don’t want to discuss it with each other.
This was a great read and would definitely recommend for a beach read.

Warm, emotional and completely unputdownable...

I was riveted from start to finish and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

This warm and emotional book is the perfect summer read.

Cassie and Julie are sisters, they share the same father. As their Nana said: 'there are no halves in this family.' You could say that goes both ways, both positive (Julie and Cassie love each other deeply) and negative (when they fall out, they do so quite thoroughly). Nana passed away, and they have to spend a month in her home, together, to inherit the house. It's Nana's last time trying to get them back together again.

I love how this book is heartwarming and at the same time does not shy away from difficult subjects. It dives deep into what abuse does to people, and can make people choose the relative safety of new abusive relationships, people struggle with themselves and their and others' emotions. Still, there is the relative safety net of love. While love for and from others does not heal all, it does provide a place to heal and a place for self-love.

I had to put the book down at some points because I needed a break, and on the other hand it often was hard to put down. It got to me on a deep level, and it often made me laugh or smile too. Here's to sisters!

Julie and Cassie are half sisters, brought together by their grandmother. After Nana’s passing, her will stipulates Julie and Cassie must stay together in her Montauk house in order to inherit it, after 14 years of the girls being estranged. Julie is in a broken marriage to a controlling husband, while Cassie is in a relationship she is not sure of, with Daniel. Much of the plot involved the issues the half sisters had dealing with their situations with their mothers and their shared father. I really enjoyed it, and look forward to more in the series. Two sisters torn apart by their circumstances. Julie and Cassie share a father but while Cassie was the product of his violent marriage, Julie was the result of an ongoing love affair. Now in the present day, their grandmother's will forces the two women to spend a month together in the family summer house. Julie is now in a controlling marriage and Cassie is having an affair with a married man. Can they survive a whole month in the same house, can they rebuild their sibling relationship?
The Sunset Sisters was a highly emotional book to read. Both women are dealing with psychological and relationship issues due to their parents' behaviour. I was so angry with Stephan and his wife and mistress for being so selfish and putting the girls in an awful situation. I found my sympathy for the sisters vacillating as we discover more about their past and present family situations.
Cassie and Julie are both likeable characters and from the offset we as readers are rooting for them to heal old wounds. Guilt, secrets and lies continue to haunt their relationship as they struggle to cope with each other's company after more than a decade of estrangement.
The narrative is split between the two sisters, with each taking a chapter in turn with a first person perspective. This gives us an awareness of their secrets and viewpoint which endears them to us as well as increases the anticipation of events as we guess what will happen next based on what we know but they still hide.
Money and social status are important themes in the book as it is made clear that family is the most important factor in life. Most of the characters seek love and acceptance whilst some have a misguided sense of entitlement that causes catastrophic consequences for themselve and others.
The Sunset Sisters was an impressive and captivating read. The family drama is superbly written and the characters and situation were realistic and engaging.

Loved this book and didn’t want to put it down, highly recommend if you’re looking for a beach ride. Julie and Cassie are sisters who haven’t talked in years who agree to spend a month at their grandmother’s home in Montauk after she dies to hopefully rekindle their relationship. While a little predictable at the end, overall such a good book.

I love stories about Sisters! If you are lucky to have one (or more) you know you have a staunch supporter and big critic rolled into one.

This story is about two sisters that find each other when they are preteens and form a close bond. But, unfortunately for Cassie and Julie, they didn’t win the parent lottery. But they do have a loving and supportive grandmother. Then, tragedy strikes and tears the two apart. When their beloved grandmother dies, she leaves the sisters her beach house. BUT first, there is one major stipulation that must be met. So much drama in this book, but very easy to see how these sisters acquired their issues with relationships.

Enjoyable read, two strong female protagonists. Family drama and then some. Characters are well written and develop well thru the story line. Told from Cassie and Julie’s point of view so you get back information on their emotions, family lives and fears. You will cheer for these two to put their relationship back together and hope for the happy ending they both deserve. Great beach read!

I was so excited to learn that this is the first book of a new series - by a new author that <3 Now, I just have to wait for the next installment lol. Cassie and Julie (with a "soft" J) are step sisters, meeting for the first time as young girls (9 years old maybe??). They meet up every summer at Nana's house and make the most amazing memories and discover a true sisterhood. Until the unthinkable happens. The dynamics of their families shift, hearts are broken, guilt comes into play and the girls have nothing to do with one another for 15 years. Nana's passing brings them back to the house on Montauk to fulfill her final wishes. We get to see a little more of what makes each of these women tick - and how their pasts have shaped them into the women that they are. Sprinkle in a touch of parental nightmare (Daddy is a dirt bag FYI), a psycho soon to be (ex)wife, a controlling soon to be ex husband, a couple of handsome fellas, a gaggle of kids and a lot of forgiveness - and it's a fabulous story!!! Seriously can NOT wait for the next one in this series!!! This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I'm so excited to have found a new author to stalk <3

This book is about two half sisters who were very close in childhood but have now been estranged for fifteen years. Their grandmother left them a summer home at her death with the stipulation that they spend 30 days together in the home. The story is told from both characters point of view and is very heartrendering. This is a great warm and realistic story.

An easy beach read with an an interesting premise; two half sisters whose father had kept his second family secret from his first, and the sisters later forced to reconcile in order to inherit from their shared grandmother. However, I found the characters rather shallow and poorly developed, and the story, which could have been psychologically much more intriguing (and realistic!) failed to involve me.

Just like the saying every good thing must come to an end was this beauty here.
This was my first read from the author so i didn't expect to be blown into smithereens of how good this book
I fell in love with my main characters and Nana and i have to stop here if i don't want to spoil it for anyone
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for something to transport you into a heartwarming life.
