Gritty thriller with lots of twists and turns and a few surprises. Good characters and a fast paced storyline.

This book was so confusing to begin with as the narrator of this story is not directly involved with the crime that occurred, as I expected During the course of the book, the reason the author chose this narrator becomes more and more apparent, and as the reader faces many twists and turns, the end is tough to predict. Really loved this one a lot!.

I really liked the premise of this book. The characters were vivid and well developed. I would have loved to have seen more development of the small town and more small town characters. We really only got a few main characters and a small smattering of outside characters. So it was hard to get a sense of the dynamic of this town. A little more development of the plot would have been great too. I liked the twist-ish at the end, however I figured it out really early on in the book. I think it could have been better if a few more twists and turns were added so it wasn't as clear who the killer was. Other than that, the writing was good and I would definitely recommend to other thriller lovers.

A young woman's murder continues to haunt an entire community. Even though a suspect confessed and sent to prison, the death seems to taint everyone who knew the teens involved. There have always been those who questioned the official story......

When Chrissy Cornwell was convicted of murder and sent to prison, the town should have been able to forget, it never has. And now, after 30 years, Chrissy is being released, she's served her sentence and is moving back to town. Natalie was 9 the night the police discovered Jenny's body in her parents' corn field. Jenny's family was not the only one destroyed that night. As Natalie grew, she always questioned what happened that fateful night. With Chrissy's release, she's going to find out, one way or another.

This book was a compelling read. The feelings of the individual characters and the community all were defined so well, I found myself holding my breath, waiting for the next page to set the actions in motion and find the truth. This one is a must read for anyone who loves mystery/ suspense/ thrillers.

Carissa Ann Lynch's novel She Lied She Died was a fascinating, bloodcurdling, unputdownable read for me!

Natalie Bryers was only 9 when she was awakened by a rumpus on her family’s farm. It turned out that a young girl, Jenny Juliott had been brutally murdered and dumped in the field. Later, Chrissy Cornwall, 14, admitted to killing her and was sentenced to prison. Now, 30 years later, Chrissy is back in her hometown in Ohio. But Natalie, unable to forget the night of Jenny’s murder, still has unanswered questions...

This was such a creepy story that really kept me guessing. The author set the small-town scene really well complete with the sombre and oppressive atmosphere. As the story progressed, the twists kept coming and each character had their own concealments. The chapters were quite short, making for a slightly faster read. I thought I knew where this story was going but I did not anticipate the powerful, gobsmacking ending.

I'm so pleased I took the time to read She Lied She Died and I will be waiting for more from Carissa Ann Lynch. 😊 ❄🥶

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from One More Chapter via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

She Lied, She Died is the first book I have read by Carissa Ann Lynch but it will definitely not be my last. I was enthralled from the first page and was so shocked when the truth was revealed that I had to put the book down to process it.

If you are a fan of thrillers and mysteries, this is definitely a must read. I will be thinking about this book for days to come.

The blurb of this book had me hooked before I'd even opened the first chapter but in all it didnt completely love up to what I was expecting.

Before I carry on be warned that this is a completely mixed review that even I cant quite get my head around and I'm writing it Haha.

The actual storyline was great, compelling and unputdownable, the characters were well executed and believable, the pace was fast and furious BUT what was with the ending?
Why did it stop so abruptly? It's like the author had a word count and wasnt allowed a smidgen over it! As a reader I expect 100% of a book to be the actual story, not 74% of it.

But to stop me sounding like a moaning myrtle, the positives do somewhat outweigh the negatives. Because the book is short there is a lot of action, its fast paced and you do get a really good feel for who the characters, especially Natalie, are.

It does have a lot of twisty turny moments which I love and the 'big'twist reveal was totally unexpected, even though once you think about it it all makes sense!

Just be warned it's not a long read (I'm not really a short story fan and this is what it felt like) but it is a good twisty fast paced read.

She Lied She Died by Carissa Ann Lynch was a excellent read. I was hooked within the first few pages and all my chores for the day was put on hold. WoW.....Just what did I just read!!!

Natalie Bryers was 9 years old, when a body of a young local teenaged girl called Jenny, was brutally murdered and dumped. on her family's land. Chrissy Cornwall who is 14 years old has confessed to her murder and was sentenced to life. Case closed!!!

However, thirty years later, Chrissy is finally released from prison and returns back to her hometown. She is now claiming she lied on killing Jenny all those years ago.

Why did she lie?

Who was Chrissy protecting?

Chrissy knocks on Natalie's door and asks her to help to write her story on what had happened all those years ago.

Can Natalie trust Chrissy?

Is she safe?

Will Chrissy kill again!?

Can Natalie clear Chrissy's name and learn the truth what happened over thirty years ago?

But, is Natalie ready to learn the whole truth of what really happened that night…

OMG What a book! Then Bang! what fantastic ending chapters! Now breathe........I can't wait for Carissa Ann Lynch new book.

Natalie was nine when a body was discovered in her fathers field. The victim was teenager Jenny and she was brutally murdered and dumped. Christie Cornwell aged fourteen confesses to killing her and she is imprisoned.

We fast forward thirty years and Chrissie has been paroled, local residents do not want her to return, but Natalie wants to know the truth and Chrissie is adamant that she wasn’t the killer. Who was she protecting? Chrissie wants to tell her side of the story and have Natalie write a book about her, she says she has new evidence that will prove her innocence

A book that drew me in and kept me captive until the shocking ending. There are twists galore that kept me turning the pages frantically until I finished.

WooWee! Carissa Ann Lynch just took me on a spell binding, thrilling ride... And I enjoyed every single word of it! I’m not sure how she does it, but she lures you into the story, flawlessly.

She Lied She Died had me hooked! I devoured page after page. Having no idea what was going to happen. Once I THOUGHT I had it figured out, Carissa Ann Lynch comes in with the jaw dropping twists and turns.

Another FANTASTIC read!

Natalie can’t forget seeing a dead girl in her family’s farm field, who could? A neighborhood girl confesses but the crime has always stayed in the minds and influenced the lives of the small town. Yers later, Natalie is prepared to write the story of the killer in her own words, vowing to tell the truth, no matter what. Does that promise stretch to include difficult truths about her own family? Although I didn’t really warm to either Natalie or Chrissy, now released following her murder sentence, I was kept enthralled with the story. Until it suddenly ended. I was 75 per cent through the story according to my kindle so I expected an epilogue with another twist and more explanation but the novel really did end.

Loved it! It was a great mystery from the very start. I wasn't sure if I could believe Chrissy. Don't most guilty murderers claim innocence? Why after all these years is she changing her story? If she didn't do it, then who??? Chrissy even confessed. If Chrissy didn't do it, then who?? Natalie had so many issues. She's all alone. Her father and brother are dead, her mom abandoned the family years ago and her only living aunt hates her. Loved the ending when everything was finally revealed about Jenny's death. There were so many secrets and lies surrounding that farmhouse. I never expected what Natalie eventually finds out. I was completely surprised.

Definitely recommend the book. Loved the characters, story and writing style. I look forward to reading more books by the author.

That was some ending! Talk about a twist I didn’t see coming! 2 twists actually. This was a good book. Good characters, and good storyline. Thank you Netgalley for the ability to read this one. New author to me. Glad I got the chance to enjoy it.

I struggled really hard with this one, and I'm not sure why because I have read and enjoyed other books by her. Something about the main character just wasn't very likeable and as a result I found myself very disinterested. I would still read more from this author, and am looking forward to "Whisper Island", this one just didn't do it for me.

Natalie lives on the family farm that she inherited after the suicide of her brother; he in turn had inherited it upon the death of their parents. So she now has the responsibility of a run-down farm and associated buildings. The decline of the farm can be put down to several things, economy, bad husbandry – or something more sinister – the body of a young girl was discovered in the field overlooked by her brother’s bedroom window. Natalie herself was a young girl when these events occurred and all she has is vague memories of the night in question.

Present day finds Natalie dwelling on these events, prompted by the news that the killer, Chrissy – a girl friend from school, who had confessed to the crime, had completed her sentence and returned to the community. Long intrigued by the crime, and a frustrated writer, Natalie contacted Chrissy as she wished to write about her story.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Easy to read but not simplistic. Twists and turns and a reveal that I had not expected. Great book.

Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

This novel is all about a little town in Austin that has had a hard couple of years and it's just about the get worst when Chrissy Cornwall is released from prison. She had confessed to killing another girl almost 40 years ago. Nathalie Bryers's family farm is where the body was found and it haunts her to this day.

Did Chrissy lie then or is she lying now? Did she really kill Jenny? And if so, will she kill again? Will things get worst? You'll just have to read to find out.

My review:
You guys this book was so good, a real page-turner it was so easy to read and it flowed well. I couldn't stop reading I just had to know what happened next. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The mystery is kept till almost the end it wasn't very predictable. It's a very dark and eerie book I loved how the other put so much detail in this book really makes you think like your part of the story. I really liked the character of Nathalie. She is a hot mess but a badass. It's a really awesome thriller and I didn't expect this ending, I loved it! I will for sure be checking out more books by Carissa Ann-Lynch.
