I loved this, great story of family and friendship, was a bit muddled with the conversation with Joyce and Simon over baking but I'll assume it will be corrected. Such happy ending too, I hope there will be a follow up.

A great start for a new series.
I loved the well crafted plot, the fleshed out characters and the vivid and well researched historical background.
It's an engrossing and entertaining read, highly recommended.

Themes of friendship, good neighborliness, family,pains,war,forgiveness, reconciliation etc were navigated in this book. There is so much to learn in this book.

I love Annie,she stood up for her dream despite the situations in her life.

This book is a clean book and it can be recommended to anybody interested in historical sagas.

I loved the Foyle Book Shop Girls and was so excited to read the next release by Elaine Roberts and this didn't disappoint. Historical Fiction is a genre I love to read and the characters created by Elaine make you feel like you know the girls and have a front row seat as the story unfolds.

I loved getting to know The West End Girls as Rose and Annie leave their families behind and move to London to follow their dreams. The duo soon becomes a trio of girls as you meet childhood friend Joyce and her heartbroken Uncle. The girls have very different personalities and are fiercely loyal to eachother and through the descriptions you can visualise them as they explore on their arrival walking round the lively capital.

Set against the outbreak of WW1 and with a subtle nod to Mr Leadbetter and the girls from her first series, I was totally swept along by this story and the contrast offered between Annie's life on the farm and her new life in London. This story provided emotional highs and lows through loss and love and left me feeling warm and fuzzy as I reached the end.

I am really excited to see where this new series takes the girls and whether following their dreams gets them the end prize they are looking for.

When I revived the email asking me to read and review The West End Girls a brand new WW1 saga from Elaine Roberts I was intrigued and excited. I was not disappointed this was a brilliant read.
Annie lives in the country side on a farm and her family have dreams of her settling down with a local lad, however Annie has big dreams of her own. Moving to London and making it on the stage, so she moves with her friend Rose and they both get jobs in the theatre hoping to make their dreams come true, then the war breaks out and things begin to change with theatre being more important than ever to the nation.
I enjoyed this read. The West End Girls is a brilliant start to a new saga and one I am looking forward to. Elaine has sure done her research as the plot shows this throughout. I partially liked reading about what the girls got up to in the theatre, the characters are strong sticking together through whatever the war throws at them.
I am excited for whats to come next in this new series.

Such a cosy read! That's probably the best way to sum up my experience with reading this book. In these difficult times it gave my nice hours of reading, enjoying lives of other people and being completely away from reality. At the same time I could visit my favourite city, I recognised many streets mentioned and was walking together with the characters through place and time. The characters were like friends I wish I could meet in real life because they felt quite real in their actions and thoughts. I also know how it is to have a dream and have bad conscience of leaving family, as well as being a bit too much outspoken. So the author created for me very real persons and I am happy to have spent time with them.
I clear recommendation from me!

Another wonderful story by Elaine Roberts. She really captures the era so well.
This new series is going to be great.
I'm looking forward to the next book and reading more about the girls of the West End.

This book is about friendship, love, family and peoples dreams and aspirations. Rose, Joyce and Annie all have different dreams but their friendship binds them together, Annie is the main character, we follow Annie through her dream of life on the stage. Unknown to the girls their life’s help them to help others achieve their dream. I have to confess having a soft spot for Arthur from the off. I felt lost whenI finished it then thought, this is the 1st in this series so we may visit them again. I’d definitely Recommend it.

I don't often read stories set in this time period but enjoyed the friendship between the village girls and reading about life backstage at a theatre and how they all adapt to London life. Lots of family connections, a hint of romance and the worries of a brother going off to war. An easy read.

I was excited to receive a copy of The West End Girls by Elaine Roberts. I loved the Foyles Bookshop series, so I was curious to find out about this new series from this author. I should not have worried. This is a great start to a new series.
It is 1914 Annie Cradwell lives on a farm with her family in Worcester. Her family wants her to settle down an marry the local lad and start a family but, Annie has her own dreams. Her dream is to move to London and get on job on stage. Since she was a little girl she loves singing. Her tells her parents of her concerns and they give her their blessing and with her friend Rose she moves to London staying with her friend Joyce and her grumpy uncle. Rose gets a job as a seamstress at the Aldwych Theatre and Annie gets a job as a dresser for the actress Kitty Smythe. Not what she really wants but she hopes to get an opportunity to show her talents whilst she is there. At the same time war breaks out, her brother enlists, and the theatre plays on taking peoples minds off the war.
The West End Girls is heart-warming tale of love and loss, second chances and following your dreams. Which like the previous books from the author I loved. I liked the characters of the girls and how they were always there for each other in the good times and the bad. and the storyline, with the antics of the girls and the staff at the theatre. I wonder what next is going to happen to The west End girls.

I am always scared of starting a new series. But the synopsis for this book sounded so good. This books contains following your dreams, falling in love, second chances and most of all it tells the story of a family's love for each other. I enjoyed the book , But some parts of IT got too bland for me. But thank you to netgalley for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest opinion

It's 1914 in a little village not far from Worchester, eighteen years old Annie Cradwell has a dream and it's not to be a farmer's wife, she wants to be on the stage . Her and best friend Rose Spencer jump at the chance to go down London and stay with friend Joyce Taylor and both get jobs working for Kitty Smythe as dresser and seamstress its a start for Annie. Moving to the Aldwych theatre and the breakout of war starts but music halls still keep going. I loved this story, it follows Annie through her taking singing lessons to get her dream full filled, but her so called teacher has more than singing in mind and Kitty keeps an eye on her. It's has emotional moments that touch the readers and so look forward to reading more in this new series from the author, and a lovely touch added from the foyles bookshop as I read and enjoyed them all. A great start to a new series with lovely characters that will grow on you.
