Carol Wyre had done it again!

Another smashed to add to the fantastic series, once again full of mystery and suspense and twists and turns galore, you’ll be reading well into the night with this one!

This is a dark and sinister tale. It begins when Natalie, a detective, finds the body of a teenaged girl. The characters are very likeable. The tale is very realistic. The author has painted a dismal picture of the murder of a child. Natalie is sure to catch the perpetrator of this heinous crime. It is a fast paced and suspense filled mystery that you will not want to put down. If you are looking for that thriller that will keep you turning pages long after midnight, than this one is for you.

I absolutely love this series! I loved this book so much I truly didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait for the next one!

This is the seventh book in the series featuring Detective Natalie award and is another fantastic read. Natalie has recently promoted to Detective Chief Inspector and what a first case she has to,solve, her home life seems more settled as she has recently moved in with Head of Forensics, Mike but is struggling to bond with his young daughter. Natalie is still grieving over the death of her teenage daughter and her friend so when she is called out to the murder of a young teenage girl Amelia, it immediately touches her heartstrings. Amelia appears to have run away from home and has been forced into prostitution by her boyfriend Tommy. The next day another young girl is found strangled in the park and on investigation Natalie finds that she had connections with Tommy also. Is he the murderer? So when the body of a third young woman is found with GUILTY written on her forehead this theory is in doubt as she certainly wasn’t a prostitute and was wealthy. This is a fast paced thriller that I couldn’t put down. It was great to connect with all the characters from the previous books and to see how Natalie has developed. There are plenty of twists and turns in this clever plot and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Well this is the last of this series so far until book eight is published and I’m sad that for now the series has come to an end.

This book was one of my favourites. I could really connect with the characters and feel the pain and torment they went through. Great writing and another fabulous instalment of the series.

Each of the main characters have history that has been installed into the timelines of each book. With the new characters on the team, I’m keen to explore their lives in future novels.

In this book we found out more about Natalie Ward and her past which has intrigued me since book one. It’s great to find out what really happened there in her past. It also is set up for her future too.

A great novel and really looking forward to the next!

I fell in love with this series from the moment I started to read book one. I have recently binged the last 3 books in the series in as many days. And finishing with this most current installment was just the icing on the cake for me.

The storyline of Somebody's Daughter had me absolutely enthralled in the words on the pages. I struggled to put it down, and when I did I was constantly thinking about it, and which way it could turn.

I would never have guessed who the perpetrator was, and in a strange way I found the way that all of the questions were answered very satisfying.

What I have come to love about this series, is that you are questioning the motives right up until they are revealed.

I have come to look at D.I Natalie Ward as a fond friend and her team feel like family. This installment answered a lot of questions about Natalie's past also that I have been dying to find out.

I cant wait for the next book in the series to learn more and see how things progress.

Somebody's Daughter by Carol Wyer is the OMG seventh book in this brilliant Detective Natalie Ward series.
As all of these books in this series I was hooked within the first few pages and I didn't want the book to finish.
Carol you have done it again and I am so looking forward to the next book in this fantastic series.

I highly recommend this Detective Natalie Ward series and any book Carol Wyer has written. They have all been an excellent read.

Excellent book and good story line

Natalie Ward is one of my favorite detectives in the book world and I still haven't fully recovered from the death of her daughter. When Natalie is ask to work the case of a dead teenage girl it's not easy for her. Amelia Sanders is a runaway girl, working the streets. But how could that happen, who is the one responsible for her death. Could it be drugs or maybe the one she worked for? Highly recommended series!

Carol Wyer is one of the best at British police procedural and this was one of the best of the best, in my opinion. The story itself was complex and a really dark and tragic tale of teen runaways who end up being turned out as prostitutes and then murdered. This book features the newly promoted DI Natalie Ward and her protégé Lucy who is now head of this case but has Natalie guiding her through it. There are some definite twists, beginning when a wealthy young woman is found murdered who may or may not fit into the teen case. I really enjoyed how the author included so many details about the police investigation but also gave me a glimpse into the private life of Natalie and her colleagues. The author strikes a good balance between Natalie’s job at HQ and her life at home, with the home scenes providing a a respite from the horrific crime scenes. This is a really dark story, with ugly truth as its foundation, so it may not be for everyone. However, I think fans of police procedural, mysteries and the Natalie Ward series will be well satisfied with this book.

I love Natalie Ward. The last couple of books have been hard for her but I love how strong and determined she is.
I liked this book and the storyline I was compelled to keep reading.
Carol does a fantastic job with twists that you do not see coming.

Somebody's Daughter is the 7th book in Carol Wyer's Detective Natalie Ward series. If you have read my reviews of her earlier works, you know I enjoy her series. Somebody's Daughter is no exception.

This time, significant changes have shaken up and changed the dynamics of the team. Detective Natalie Ward has been promoted to DCI and Lucy Carmichael is now the DI for the team.

The new team's first case finds Natalie not sitting behind the desk as much as she should. But would anyone expect anything else from her? At first, the killings seem unrelated, and Lucy is unsure if it is even one murderer or two. The bodies pile up, and the team begins to doubt themselves and feel pressure from the top to close the case.

Wyer's police procedurals are well-written with relatable characters. She focuses on solving the crime but also on the police team's interactions with each other and with their home life. By now, they are so familiar they feel like old friends.

No future books are listed on Goodreads, but Wyer recently tweeted she completed the first draft of her 25th novel! Of course, I will be on the lookout for it.

Detective Natalie Ward is back! I adore this series.

In this case, we have a number of seemingly unconnected murders. The first 2 murders seemed connected but after that, I kept scratching my head as the bodies started piling up. I wasn’t the only one baffled of course. Detective Natalie and her team were equally puzzled and together, we began trying to complete this complex puzzle.

There is a new twist in this installment. Over the last 6 books, readers have come to know Natalie at a professional and personal level. Her character development is one of the best parts of this series. She is a detective that I have always loved and rooted for. The author has also done such a great job in developing all the support characters such that I feel like I really know her entire team and family too. The change of roles for Natalie and her team members had me excited. I wanted to see how it would play out though I was nervous about Natalie not being in a role I was used to seeing her in. Needless to say, it all worked out well in the end and I can’t wait to see what happens next for this team.

This was another complex case where I couldn’t guess who the perpetrator was. I tried to but I was so wrong at every turn. I have always loved how the author presents the cases in a way that we have to work with Natalie’s team and not solve the mystery ahead of them. We interviewed people, collected evidence, chased suspects, attended autopsies, watched CCTV footages, it really wasn’t an easy case. I enjoyed being part of the team. The ending was deliciously unpredictable and satisfying.

This was another emotional case that left me thinking about the perp and the crimes. My country, Kenya was briefly mentioned in the story in a way that reminded me of a special group of Brits who I frequently see around my hometown near Mt. Kenya. This little detail made me appreciate just how well researched Carol Wyer’s books are. She just doesn’t stop at the detailed investigations, all aspects of the case sound so realistic hence making this an even more enjoyable read.

Somebody’s Daughter is yet another great installment in this series. Captivating, suspenseful, well-written, an absoluter stunner of a crime thriller, Detective Natalie Ward series is a must read.

Every time I finish one of Carol’s books, I’m amazed at how she’s manages to top the last!

The books are fast paced from the very beginning, and especially with the new instalments - take me on a ride a won’t forget, tapping into my own feelings and I now feel SO connected with Natalie.They have been intense, creepy and heart-breaking all at once – I was unable to put them down, and normally read it all in one sitting neglecting my family for the day! There’s been some shocking endings which have just made me so impatient and willing Carol to hurry up and write the next book! My three favourite words to sum up one of Carol’s books: Spine Tingling, gripping and exhilarating.

Keep them coming, Carol!

Well now I’m hooked. I must go and devour all things from this author. She has definitely become a must read. This genre is so dang fabulous.

Detective Natalie Ward has been given a new promotion that will supposedly be taking her off the streets and hoping this new position will give her more time with her new family. Lucy Carmichael has also been promoted to Natalie's old position of DCI and has big boots to fill as the new leader of the investigative team. When the body of a young teenager who may have been a prostitute and addict is found in a seedy pad of town it seems an easy to close case until another body of a young woman is found from a completely different background but with similar signs of the same killer except this time GUILTY is written across her forehead. The pressure is now on because the team may have a serial killer on their hands and no suspects and the rush is on because this is only the beginning of a brutal murder spree that will take a dramatic toll on each of the team
members and especially for Natalie whose life will be put on the line working this harrowing case.I

This series continues to keep growing and getting better with every new book. The stories revolves around police procedures that intertwine with the personal lives of the team of detectives keeping a more realistic and interesting view to all the stories. I can't get enough of this series and I am always looking forward to reading the next book when it hasn't even happened to have been written yet. I enjoyed how this book delved more into Lucy's character and learning more of her background and struggles that she was having in her personal life and the hardship of being promoted from within a department to becoming a leader of her workmates who have always been her peers and friends and now she is their boss. This was another dark and gritty book that was very satisfying to read and I can't wait to read the next one. Please, Carol Wyer, please continue to write more books for this series.I
