Perfect escapism with a charming story and relatable characters. All you need is a comfy chair and a hot chocolate to go with it. I love this author! Can’t wait for her next book. |
This book is an easy light read! I read this in two sit ins and i cant wait to read more from this author. I loved the story and really connected with the characters! |
Meet me in London is a light frothy read, pure escapism! The characters are strong, believable and extremely well written. . This is a real feel good romance. Victoria and Oliver are fantastic characters and I enjoyed their story. The reader engages with this book and I really enjoyed Georgia’s writing style. I would recommend this book Thank you to Netgalley, Mills and Boon and Georgia for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review |
This book reads exactly like those Hallmark romantic movies I wouldn't watch at any other time of the year but suddenly love at Christmas. It's pretty predictable but I had such a good time reading it. I liked the main character Victoria and there was a good supporting cast. Its not super festive so you could read this any time of the year. Hopefully Georgia writes another Christmassy romance in 2021. |
Meet Me In London is a sweet romance with the trope of pretend relationship turned real. What starts as a matter of convenience, develops into chemistry and hope. There's very little original about this story, but that doesn't always matter. When it comes to romance, we want to be invested in two characters and their relationship, and that was true for me of Meet Me In London. The characters are well written, with the perfect amount of backstoryr. Their relationship was touching and believable. There is a whole host of secondary characters - a few too many for my liking, but they're well written and I'd definitely be interested in the stories of Victoria's friends. An easy to read, light romance that left me with a smile on my face, just the ticket for a down-day when I want a few hours of happy escapism. |

I wasnt sure what to expect from this author but thought I would give it a go and pleased I did! Yes it is a typical boy meets girl, something goes wrong but it all works out in the end type story but it is fun, flirty and a very natural read. Yes it does feel a little immature, but this is a new writer and I think she can only go from strength to strength. I liked both main characters and was obviously rooting for them and they got there in the end! Would definitely try another book by this author in the future. My thanks to netgalley for an arc of this book in return for my honest opinion. |
A real surprise. I’m not sure what I was expecting in a book by Georgia Toffolo, but she surpassed my expectations with this book, Perhaps a little predictable (as can a lot of books in this genre, especially in the Mills & Boon style such as this), and taking on a very well-worn route from ‘fake-romance to real romance’ between the two main characters, it was still an enjoyable read. Set in the run up to Christmas it gave it that little extra touch of magic, but it is a story that can be enjoyed whenever, not just reserved solely for the month of December. |
This book is published by Mills and Boon and is clearly in the Romantic Fiction genre. The story centres around Victoria Scott and Oliver Russell. She’s a budding fashion designer, working in a pub to make ends meet, he’s the heir to a department store empire. Naturally there is a little tension when they first meet, but that doesn’t stop Oliver asking Victoria to be his pretend fiancé for the sake of his sanity, as well as to keep his mum from constantly trying to meddle in his non-existent love life. She agrees as Oliver has offered to showcase her fashion designs at the opening of his new store. Victoria does have some qualms about the store opening and she uses her influence to have Oliver invite the traders from the local area set up stalls in his store on opening day. To convince Oliver’s parents that this relationship is real Oliver insists that they have dinner with his parents. This has Victoria worried, they are only a fake couple, is it fair to dupe his parents in this way? After meeting them, and hitting it off with them right away, Victoria is more concerned than ever that what they are dong isn’t right. The lines between fake relationship and real feelings begin to blur, for both of them. But just as everything appears to be going in the right direction for them both, Victoria’s past rears its head, and Oliver’s cousin finds out her secret, threatens to expose her unless she leave Oliver. Believing she’s doing the right thing, Victoria calls off the arrangement and heads home to Devon. Both Oliver and Victoria are miserable by Victoria’s decision, but will either of them push their pride aside and reach out to the other before it’s too late? I did enjoy this book, I wasn’t sure if I would as I had read some negative reviews by people so wasn’t sure what to expect. The storyline is in keeping with the Mills and Boon remit, so if you love this publishers titles you won’t be disappointed. The story is set in the run up to Christmas so it’s obviously an excellent choice to read at this time. I do feel that you could read this book at any time of the year though; it is part of a series by the same author so reading this at any time of the year would not feel out of place. A lovely read. Enjoyed it very much. |

The most beautiful of unexpected love stories. Packed full of beautiful clothes and beautiful people I just could not put this down. The perfect escapist read for a rainy Sunday. |
A lovely romantic read with a slight reference to Christmas. Highly predictable but that didn’t effect my enjoyment. At every twist and turn I was hoping it would work out. Thanks to Netgalley for the early e book copy. |
This is Georgia Toffolo's first novel, fresh from her win a few years ago on I'm A Celeb, where she captured the nation's heart and this is a fabulous read. This filled my little romance heart with so much joy and I loved how Oliver just basically proposed to Victoria the first time he saw her. Fake relationship tropes are my favourites and this was spot-on. I can't wait for Meet Me In Hawaii. |
Ohh I loved this book, it was sweet, fun, warm & fluffy. Easy to read, written very well, thoroughly enjoyable. Cannot wait for the sequel! Would definitely recommend! |

Very cute romance with plenty to warm the heart, this is a decent first novel from Georgia Toffolo. The book is centered around Victoria, a bar manager by day and fashion designer by night and Oliver, the owner of a department store, who pair up to solve both their problems. These main characters are well fleshed-out and likable, leaving the reader hoping for their happy ending. Set in Chelsea, London, this novel is Georgia Toffolo writing what she knows, which works perfectly. This is a cosy, charming read which is a little predictable in places, but ultimately worth a read. Many thanks to Netgalley for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. |
This book features one of my favourite tropes: a fake relationship. I did enjoy this story and the characters. I liked the relationship between Oliver and Victoria and enjoyed seeing this develop throughout the book. The characters felt very realistic and they were experiencing difficulties that made them feel relatable. Whilst the overall tone of the book is lighthearted there were some moments of darkness and reality that I really appreciated. This is a debut novel and I did feel that in places the writing felt a little clumsy particularly at the start of the book when the characters were being introduced. I did feel that this improved as the story progressed. I was pleased to hear that there is going to be a sequel following another one of the characters that were introduced in this book. I will certainly be checking out the next book. |
Oliver and Victoria both do not date and have different reasons for that. The way they interact and hide their feelings is so cute. Oliver is very focused on his business but starts to realise how important other things are. Victoria is the sweetest character and I really connected with her. This book is like a warm hug after a long day, it is so cute. Before reading this, I had my reservations about but the characters and story just drew me in! This is such a light, easy read with a fake dating trope (which I love) and I really recommend it! |
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book - I thought the characters were well written and being set in London (being an avid lover of London) I thought it was very relatable. The characters felt like people I could know. I thought the story evolved really well and as the story progressed you fall more in love with the characters and by the end I was wholeheartedly routing for them! Definitely one I'd read again. |
A lovely Christmas book, with some deeper issues touched on that keeps it from being completely light and fluffy. The first in a book series, it introduces you to all the main character and gives you a hint to a backstories that I guess we will hear more of in future books. A sweet book that you can read not only at Christmas time! I put a review of this on my Instagram stories and sold it in my bookshop also. |
As a debut novel, this was good and I will definitely read the sequel coming out this year. It took me a while to get into this and I did feel that the romance was a little forced and perhaps not relatable. Nevertheless I enjoyed picturing Victoria’s adventures around London, pursuing her dreams and not letting a man get in her way. |
Georgia Toffolo has really hit the nail on the head with this ‘peng’ feel-good romance novel. It is Next Level. Not only has it got the pretend-but gets a bit steamy- love story of Oliver and Victoria, it touches on difficult subjects such as illness, depression, guilt and a huge one that I am so pleased to see delicately handled INFERTILITY. 👏🏻 I couldn’t put this book down, it was so beautifully written, a brilliant story and lovable characters (aside from Andrew). I can totally see why this is a Sunday Times Top 20 Bestseller. Oliver is an absolute dreamboat, And the Lost Hours girls are what you want from your girl gang! I cannot wait to read Meet me in Hawaii (which I am so fortunate to have an ARC paperback of) and of course, the further 2 books in this series! I definitely recommend this book! My only regret is waiting so long to read this book. |
This book was a cute & easy read, and I enjoyed it. Sometimes the scenes between Victoria and Oliver were a bit too repetitive and drawn out. Also not sure why they called the book Meet Me in London. It doesn't really seem to fit the story that well. I would've liked the book to feel more festive. Although it's set in the build up to Christmas, it didn't feel it at all. Not a bad debut, but I think it could've been polished up a bit more and improved. |
