This was a very enjoyable, historical Christian romance. And it's set in such a wonderful setting, Yellowstone National Park. I loved the characters and the plot kept me engaged the whole time!

First sentence: What was it about men and danger? Did they all want to die? Kate Tremaine leveled her rifle at the back of the stranger standing beside the rainbow-colored mud pots, a long, twisted branch in his hand. “Stop right there, mister. Drop the stick.” Broad shoulders stiffened in his navy cavalry coat. Normally she had the utmost respect for the military, especially after seeing how Captain Harris had worked to protect Yellowstone since arriving last month. But she’d caught more than one of the horse soldiers a mite too close to the boiling geysers and heated paint pots.

Premise/plot: Kate Tremaine is a widow raising a son in Yellowstone National Park. She's the keeper of the Geyser Gateway hotel. Her lease is up in the spring and she worries about the future...

Lt. Will Prescott has a trouble past but he is absolutely loving his new assignment at Yellowstone patrolling the park. He trades his handy skills for a personal tour guide of the region he'll be patrolling with his six men. It's a fair trade when all is said and done. And during this time, he becomes buddies with Danny, the widow's young son.

But both Kate and Will have reasons to be hesitant about acting on their mutual attraction for one another. Is he there for the long haul? Or is Yellowstone just a temporary assignment?

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this one!!! I thought it was a lovely historical romance. There were a few times I wanted to really yell at the book, because I guessed a plot point many, many chapters before the hero and heroine--but overall it was a good way to spend my time.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romances OR to those with a particular interest in Yellowstone. (I went in 89 a few weeks before the big fire.)

Absolutely the best characters! I felt as if I was amongst friends and family with these wonderful characters. This book captured my interest from page one, I love everything about this National Park. The author did a fantastic job honoring the park and all the beauty that is found there. My heart was captured by each page, the tragedies and joy that came Kate endured only made the story sweeter. If you have never been to Yellowstone you will definitely want to after reading this fantastic book. The sweet clean romance dazzles the reader with such tenderness and emotion. Regina Scott never fails or disappoints, after reading her books I feel as if part of my heart has been left between the pages. Her beautiful stories touch so much of your soul leaving you pondering on it for days after!
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

A wonderful historical adventure romance set in the early days of Yellowstone National Park! The year that the army moved in to help patrol and protect the park, 1886, presents a unique set of problems that bring the main characters together: a lack of reliable guides and maps, the threat of poachers, cut throat competition between hotels, and few safe roads through dangerous terrain. Lieutenant Will Prescott strikes a bargain with widowed Kate to trade building maintenance on her hotel for her guide services in the park.
I enjoyed all of the descriptions of park landmarks, and could easily picture the wonderful landscape of this unique park! The author does a good job of painting the background, including the wildlife and the thermal features, as well as the threat of illegal hunters. Some peril, danger and a little mystery added interest and moved the story along at a faster pace in parts.
I loved little Danny and his part of the story. Kate had it tough being a woman in business and as a single parent. Her independent nature put her at odds with having to rely on anyone too much. The need for grace, redemption, and a second chance at love are a common thread between Will's and Kate's stories. I liked how the circuit riding preacher gives a bit of a nudge to Kate with the story of Martha and Mary. It was a good reminder to stop striving and be still, lean on God and trust Him. "Stop and listen to the words of the One who created all this for your pleasure."
A wonderful read for fans of clean historical romances. Recommend for teens and up. 4.5 stars

Through the eyes of the author we get to see the beauty of Yellowstone, and yes I have been there, but this is when the government has given the US Cavalry control.
We are given a widow who is running a hotel in the park, and raising a precocious six year old boy, he is such a delight. We find out why she is a widow, we see and meet least savory characters that make an illegal income poaching, and we meet a Lieutenant with the Calvary, that is determined to stop this horrible crimes.
Our Lieutenant has a secret that took him down once, and we learn it and. The effect it had on his career and life. We see sparks fling between Kate, our widow, and Will, our Lt. but can they overcome the obstacles that are thrown at them?
Now this is the second book in this series, and yes, it can be read alone, but you might want to read the first once you pick this one up!

I received this book through Net Galley and Beyond the Page Publishers, and was not required to give a positive review.

It is 1886, and the government has given the US Cavalry control of Yellowstone. For widowed hotelier Kate Tremaine, the change is a welcome one. She knows every inch of her wilderness home like the back of her hand and wants to see it protected from poachers and vandals.

Refused a guide by Congress, Lieutenant William Prescott must enlist Kate's aid to help him navigate the sprawling park and track down the troublemakers. But a secret from his past makes him wary of the tender feelings the capable and comely widow raises in him. When her 6-year-old son is kidnapped by a poacher who wants the boy to guide him to the place where the last of the Yellowstone bison congregate, Will and Kate must work together to rescue him, save the bison, and protect the park. In doing so, they may just find that two wounded hearts can share one powerful love when God is in control.

I love the imagery that this book evoked! I love Yellowstone and the author perfectly encapsulated the beauty of that region. It was also terrifying to read of the horrific events that happened because they were living in the wild. I love the storyline and how the characters each had to grow and learn from their past to be able to come together. Great story!

***ENJOYABLE YELLOWSTONE NATL PARK ROMANCE ***
// 1886 - Widow Kate Tremaine and her son, Danny, run the Geyser Gateway Inn set in the world's first National Park, rugged Yellowstone, surrounded by erupting mud pots, pine trees, bison, bears and beauty, and occasionally poachers.
// Kate has such a passion for Yellowstone that I really like.
// Lt. Will Prescott has been assigned to patrol the area. For more than 10 years he's been a cavalryman, but he carries a heavy burden: "Sometimes, he feared even God wouldn't forgive what he'd done."
// I loved how Will was immediately drawn to Danny, wanting to make sure he could be a kid and enjoy life. He is a good man and I was drawn to him throughout the story.
// I received a complimentary eBook from the publisher via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own without compensation or further expectation.

This was a good story but a bit predictable. It went a bit slow for me and took me a while to want to finish it.

For those times when you have to stay where you are (like right now), it doesn't get any better than taking a mental vacation by reading about a plucky young mother running her own hotel in the heart of Yellowstone country and falling in love with the handsome lieutenant who's assigned to protect the park.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable novel set in the late 1800's, when tourism in Yellowstone was on the increase. The widowed Mrs. Kate Tremaine is introduced as the managing genius of the Geyser Gateway Inn. Between charming the guests and threatening to shoot the guests if they dare lay one finger on any of the park's natural features, she has plenty to do. But when a cavalry detachment sets up camp nearby, she finds herself with one more job: act as guide for the soldiers until they know their way around. In return, Lieutenant Will Prescott promises to help her with odd jobs around the inn. The two of them immediately spark each other's interest, but first they have to deal with poachers, hotel rivalry, forest fire, and the looming challenge of a Yellowstone winter.

The story pulled me in. I loved the setting and thought the characters of Kate and Will were well drawn. Even though Will had a tragic backstory, it was nice to see that it didn't derail the relationship or create melodrama. What the reader wants from a book like this is just to see two nice people enjoy each other's company and learn to trust and love. And that's what the reader gets here.

I requested this book because of the setting. I absolutely love national parks and visit them any time I can get. I loved visiting Yellowstone again through the pages of this book. While I love me a good romance, the way it was written here wasn’t exactly to my liking. Some pluses. Some minuses.

Regina Scott is releasing her second book in her American Wonders Collection. What is nice about this collection is that each one stands alone, but the connections to America's greatest treasures make them worth reading, in any order.

Nothing Short of Wondrous takes place in Yellowstone National Park, soon after the National Park system was enacted into law. Kate Tremaine runs the Gateway Inn, within the park. She provides rooms, meals, and some tours for people coming to enjoy the Park's particular beauty. She also protects her area of the park as well as the people who come to her Inn.

The Army is providing protection for the wildlife and the people, as well as rounding up poachers. However, the Army is not provided with guides to help them navigate the dangers of the park. Lt. William Prescott prevails upon Kate to help him get to know the landscape and the areas of the park she knows best. In return, he and some of his men will provide some much needed repairs to her Inn.

This book offers intrigue, romance, and incredible descriptions of natural beauty--something for nearly every reader. Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a personal guide through the wonders of Yellowstone.

Revell Publishing and NetGalley.com provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book was pretty good from the beginning to the end. It never seemed to lag, though it did feel at times as though I didn't know why characters were doing certain things.

From a writing standpoint, the book was very well written. The dialogue was strong. The beauty of Yellowstone was portrayed very well within the pages and I found that I could really see what the author was talking about.

The characters were well-rounded and wonderful to get to know. I found that I liked Kate's personality very much, and Will was a very good contrast to her old husband--but also an even better fit for her--who was mentioned quite a few times. I loved that Danny, Kate's son, was not stupid or annoying, but I could really see him as a kid that just wanted to have fun and follow a good example.

Great book by Regina Scott! Thanks to Netgalley and Revell for providing the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was great from start to finish! I enjoyed the setting around Yellowstone national park and I loved the way the author incorporated many things about the park in the story. She made me feel like I was part of the story as I was reading. I can't wait for my library to get this book!!

This was part mystery and part romance. It had themes of trusting God and forgiveness of self. The setting was Yellowstone park and it definitely made me want to visit there one day!

I got this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed it and will look forward to the next book in the series which I believe is set in another US National Park. If you enjoy authors like Tracie Peterson and Melissa Jaeger, then this is a book you should definitely read

Beautifully written story of a widow, Kate, who runs a hotel in Yellowstone National Park, and a lieutenant, Will, who is stationed nearby to help discourage poachers. Their friendship of course grows into more, and her son Danny is fond of the lieutenant. A poacher is illusive, and keeps starting wildfires in the park. They must find him as quickly as they can before he destroys much of the park. It's a great clean story with a fabulous ending!
