Well written, with a well thought out storyline.
The characters were all unique, and the ways their qualities impacted on each other was interesting, but I have to admit the story just didnt capture me like I so hoped it would.

We were introduced to four women: Sophia, Andrea, Hannah, and Rosalie right at the beginning of the novel. It was all very confusing from there. I honestly tried to start reading this four or five different times and I could not get into it but I had to power through because I needed to write a review for this. I really did think I would enjoy this because of the setting of the music industry but I should not have wasted my time.

Very enjoyable story of 3 friends/ family set in New York. They have arguments and fall out, but you hope that they will make up again.

Wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't connect with the characters to the exception of Hannah somewhat. Mind, it was all very well-written, but at the same time so well-written that the characters of Andrea and Rosalie rubbed me the wrong way throughout and I had the feeling I would not want to be friends with such women IRL, so I couldn't really root for them in the book. It's a good story, but not for me because it was so well-sketched to be so insanely realistic and make these women unsympathetic

Great story looking at female friendships and they impact on our lives. Glamorous locations and lifestyles. Really enjoyed this book. Thank you for letting me review this book.

Thank you to netgalley and Canelo for the arc of this book.

This involves a lady named Andrea, her younger sister named Sofia, her assistant Hannah and then her boss’s daughter named Rosalie who have been close friends for years. In this book Each woman is someway connected in some way to the music industry but each of them are actually in some sort of struggle one way or another.....

Andrea, her younger sister Sofia, her assistant Hannah and her boss’s daughter, Rosalie have been close friends for years. Each woman is connected in some way to the music industry and as strong as all of them are, every one of them is struggling in some way. Andrea, a tough, straight-talking music executive who after her mother’s death when she was young, practically brought up her younger sister, Sofia who is now married to Jay, a complete waster that everyone dislikes apart from Sofia who loves him. Andrea and Sofia worked together in the family music business until Andrea left to join a far bigger company leaving her sister feeling resentful because she didn’t know all the reasons for her sister's move.
Andrea’s loyal assistant and one of her best friends, Hannah struggles to fit everything into her day. She works long hours for a demanding Andrea, while bringing up her baby and two other children and running around after her oblivious husband who doesn’t seem to have realised that he’s not a college student any longer. Then there’s Rosalie, spoilt, never wants for anything and always has the latest new ‘must-have’ accessory. There’s much more to Rosalie than meets the eye and she’s determined to let people know it.
I loved the relationships between the women from their closeness to their clashes when three of them discover the truth about one of the others and how they deal with it while coping with revelations of their own. Their relationships with the men in their lives and their struggles and battles with each other are brilliantly depicted. This is a story about friends, their journey to self-discovery and their battle with others and within themselves to try and make the life for themselves that they ultimately discover they want. I loved it.
My thanks to Canelo and NetGalley for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

Friendship at its finest point is overcoming what life throws your way! Having a circle of friends by your side is one of life's greatest gifts!

Laura delves into the lives and challenges of four childhood friends, a good story, and an enjoyable read but for me I struggled with all the characters and occasionally got lost along the way, having to skip back to check what was going on, too many people featured at once but if you enjoy a busy book then pick up your copy today!

I’ll have to be honest. I started out loving the book. Four women. Close friends and some family. But the part with Rosalie I lost interest because there was a lot of detail with the music world. I skimmed through the beginning when it talked about the music industry.
When it finally got interesting was the middle where the drama was beginning between the women.
I wish the ending had actually been longer.
Like more of how everyone was after the drama happened. But I did overall like the book.

I was totally captured of the story of childhood friends and their families. Thinking back to my own childhood friends and what we are today - I'm a bit jealous, even if I don't want all the drama.
It was an extra plus with the surrounding to be the music business.
I'm always looking forward to a new story from Laura Carter. I know it will be a good one.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I am sorry but this book was not my cup of tea. It could not hold my interest enough for me to keep reading.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher ~Canelo for the ARC.

This is a story involving the complicated friendships between three women connected to the music publishing/ producing business. Told from each point of view:
Andrea is work and success driven, 38 years old and unable to commit to any long-term relationship. She moved from the family music business to become CEO of Steller, leaving her little sister Sofia to run that with her waster of a husband Jay.
Hannah has worked with Andrea for years as a personal assistant and despite having pressures of juggling home life with a lazy husband, a new baby and two older boys, also has to bear the pressure of working with Andrea in her new high-powered job.
Rosalie is a socialite; her father Hunter is Andrea's boss at Steller. Seemingly reliant on spending her father's money on all things material she is more than what she seems and yearns to be taken seriously.
As each of the women re-evaluate their lives rivalries and jealousies emerge, threatening the strength of their friendships.

The characters are interesting and there are many moments that made me smile as they talked about their individual problems and Rosalie and her antics really amused me.

A solid 3* read.

Times Like These by Laura Carter a four-star read about four friends. This one took a while to get going and it took me a couple of tries to get into the story, but honestly once I got into it, It go better, it just took a while to get to that point. The one thing this did have for me, it didn’t show women in the usual glossy bestie manner, it showed that they drift and hurt and don’t stand up in life always, they weren’t your typical characters but they ended up being that way at times. There were a couple of good dramatic moments in the story and this brought it up, but I have to admit it wasn’t my favourite of this author.

We are looking at a story of Andrea, Heather and Rosalie through their eyes and how they see each other. This book brings back the female friendships and the story not keeps you engrossed but also brings in the conflicts we often forget have always existed in our own lives. I could relate to the characters and the confusion, lack of understanding and selfishness that has been there with our friendships. A very good story and good time invested in the book. I loved all the characters and the self discovery and self reflection of each character is a treat to read about and reminds us how we do take friendships forgranted sometimes and we need to do our bit too. A great read.

Even if it's well written the story didn't keep my attention and it fell flat. Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

A story about 4 friends having different lives and wanting all different things. While I felt like the story took a while to get going, once it did, the plot was interesting and captured my attention.
