I received this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
The illustrations and the story of this picture-book is very nice, and I love the intention of making school seem less daunting. However, I feel like it tries too hard to create rhyme and work in prose. The lines/sentences are so long that even I am struggling to make them rhyme because there isn't a good flow from line to line. It would be better if it was not written this way, in my opinion.

Thanks to Netgalley from giving me this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Dudley and Friends series. In this story, Dudley is returning to school after summer vacation. The first lesson is "nouns." There are much better picture books on nouns (Merry-Go-Round, A Lime, A Mime, A Pool of Slime, etc.) but this one is not without its charm. It pulls double duty by also being a first day school book. Thanks to Netgalley from giving me this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. The illustrations are cute and a little different than you would normally see. The story was too much of a stretch. The author wanted to rhyme so badly that she used odd words at odd places and it just felt forced. On top of that, it was boring.

The book successfully taught the basics of what common and proper nouns are. The students' answers to that lesson and the teacher's responses were clever and well done. However, the first day of school story of the whole book wasn't really addressed.

It is a cool idea of a book for pre-schoolers or first graders, but somehow it becomes complicated when it delves into serious grammar stuff - like exploring the meaning of the word ´noun´. However, the friendly animal schoolmates are a great choice to introduce the ambiance of a daily school day to little ones. Going to school may be a very difficult experience for children, therefore a bit of preparation is more than necessary, especially by using the proper literary tools. The graphic part of the book is just satisfactory.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me the e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was a fun read. Perfect for kids who fear going to school. The illustrations are so cute. I would want to buy something like this one when I'll have kids.

This is an adorable read for any child. I think making a whole series would be great. I do think it ended too quickly though.

Dudley is worried that school will be too hard, but when his teacher explains what a noun is and the students play a game, this little pup becomes excited about school and learning.
I can't wait to share this book with my first and second grade students. The illustrations are adorable, and the poetic scheme is fun. The reading level is just right for emerging readers as well.

My four year old quite enjoyed this book. We read it a few times as we snuggled into bed. It was good stopping at a part in the book to see if he could find nouns in his bedroom using the people, place, animal, thing as suggested from the book. Would be interested to read more of these with him.

This is a cute book. There is a learning aspect to it that is great for kids. The beginning starts off kind of random and then the end is abrupt but all in all, a cute and helpful book with cute illustrations.

Dudley & Friends: Nouns is about the first day of school. Dudley is worried, but also excited to learn. His first lesson is using nouns. This was a fun story for entertainment. It is also useful to help kids in two ways. One, it helps calm the nerves of kids worried about going to school. Two, it makes nouns really easy to understand.
