This is the first book I have read by Miranda and it certainly won’t be the last. Exquisitely written with characters you won’t forget in a hurry. I will be reading all her others now.

OK, but not the best I've read from the author!
I hate to say it especially as I have been an avid reader of Amanda Dickinson's books for years, but this one wasn't up there with the best; true it's a delightful and charming story but it didn't hit the right marks for me - sorry!
I did like the characters, the two engaging leads at the centre of the story and it's them that really kept me reading.

Miranda has done it again, amazing! Have some tissues ready, what an absolute treat of a book. I was hooked from page 1 and didn't want it to end

A lovely, lighthearted read, which I really enjoyed.

I really enjoyed following Otty and Joe's story. They were both lovely, likeable characters.

I liked that the chapters alternated between both Joe and Otty's perspectives.

It was really well written.

Thank you to Miranda and NetGalley for the chance to read this book.

Sorry, very underwhelmed by this book. Typical 'will they, won't they' story. Boy meets girl, bicker bicker, fall out, bicker bicker bicker, fall out again, bicker bicker bicker bicker, big fall out. Predictable, but very uninspired ending when they get together. The arguments seemed over inflated and not worth falling out over. They couldn't communicate properly with each other, which just led to misunderstandings and fall outs. I'm afraid I got sick of the pair of them.

I was really looking forward to this book, but I just couldn’t get into it. So sadly, this wasn’t for me and I didn’t finish it.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

Quite difficult to get in to, and I found the main characters a little annoying. I did get in to it after a while, but then found the ending very predictable. An OK easy read.

I had no idea of what to expect from this book - despite liking the sound of it from the blurb.

The two main characters were introduced well and we have chapters told from their points of view.

I found myself becoming frustrated with the immaturity of Otty and Joe and couldn't understand why their relationship was the way it was.
There was something that I imagine was supposed to be a twist toward the end, which was massively predictable, almost from the beginning which also annoyed me.

Maybe I'm just too old for this kind of book.

When I first began this book, I found it difficult to get into it. And just when I started to really get a feel of the characters and the setting I found myself becoming annoyed with the two main characters.

This is a personal thing for me, I'm not a massive fan of the "miscommunication" trope. If it's done in small doses, it bearable. However, the two main characters just can't communicate effectively at all. Their fights are over inflated and this was one of the few books where I just really wanted the main couple to just break up and move on.

I was just a bit underwhelmed, I could see the potential that the story had but I don't feel like that potential was reached. It showed great promise but just failed to deliver.

Miranda Dickinson has written some classic books in this genre and my favourite Somewhere by the Sea is a standout example. Sadly I didn't find Our Story to be as engaging or convincing. It's the story of Joe and Otty who work and live together and from the beginning I wasn't convinced by either character or the premise and so this made it difficult to believe in or be interested in a relationship between them . However, like the author's previous novels it is a warm hearted read and enjoyable escapsim.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book

Based on the last 5 mins, if not the whole book, I feel like I've just been on a rollercoaster of emotion, as to whether or not I would get the ending my heart desired... but I'm not going to tell you if I did or not!

But wow, this is a book that was on my mind even when I wasn't reading it,

I just loved the story of Otty and Joe, who are clearly brilliant writing partners, great house mates, but my god when it comes to being truthful about their feelings, its ridiculous, especially for a pair of writers to be so stuck for words.

It's a whole will they - won't they sort a book, but it also covers whether Otty's family will ever accept her new career move, let alone the fact she clearly doesn't want to be with the man that the family had been rooting for her to marry since childhood.

The story is told in alternating viewpoints of Otty and Joe so we get to know both of them really well, and get a really rounded view of everything that is happening.

I loved some of the banter and general dialogue between not only Otty and Joe, but also the words they were putting into their scripts. The snippets that are given hooked me into wanting to watch the programme they were working on.

This is Miranda Dickinson at her very best, it was compelling reading about characters I really cared for. An absolutely pleasure to read.

Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Perfect read for when you need a bit of fabulous escapism and who doesn't during lockdown.

Working with stories within stories we come to love the main characters Otty and Joe, television writers who find themselves in a story even more compelling than the fiction they strive to create in their competitive jobs.

I tore through it and was rewarded with twists and turns, a few baddies, and a bunch of very compelling characters.

And as for the ending....

This book started slowly, and it took me a while to get into it. As a result I’ve not been in the mood to finish it. I don’t think it’s related to the book though, and I will try again at some point!
