This is another wonderful addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. As usual there is a short, simple, child friendly biography of a famous person, this on being the first female president of the Philippines, Corazon Aquino. This one is a bit different than some of the others, as there is also a lot of information on her husband, Benigno Aquino, who was her inspiration. There is a brief description of her early life and education in the U.S., then her fight for democracy against a corrupt and greedy leader of the Philippines. My biggest complaint about this book are the illustrations. Yes, they add to the story sharing Corazon Aquino's life, and yes they are well done and child friendly, but, the characters do not look Filipino and I think that is a disservice. I love the important message, of ordinary children, doing extraordinary things while pursuing their dreams. There is a short biography, photographs and timeline at the end of the book to add to what the reader learns in the story. There are also a couple of other books mentioned for follow up reading, especially for adults and older children who might be reading these to a younger child. As always, I recommend this series to libraries, both public and school.

This series is always a joy to read and I always keep an eye out for new books being released, they are lovely little introductions to well-known people for little children and as a mum I love reading them to my daughter.

This one is about Corazon Aquino who was the first female President of the Philippines, she is an inspiration, she went against the odds and fought corruption again adversity following the loss of her husband who had been instruments in the fight for this cause, she willingly became his voice when he incarcerated and picked up the baton after he was killed- even as an adult I love this series and get to learn!

I loved the images and this is another 5 star hit for me!

great book in this series, I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these depictions of famous people and this did not fail to compare. The illustrations and information that was included remained great throughout, and was enjoyable all the way through the short read. Corazon Aquino was not someone i knew about before reading this an i think that is the beauty of this series of children books. It exposes both adults and children to a range of new famous people and that is the beauty of it.

I adore these books from Little People, BIG DREAMS series, This new book is about the life of Corazón Aquino by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara. Corazón Aquino was the first female president of the Philippines She was the first woman who brought democracy in her country making people believe in their right to choose their leader and vote after going through years of struggle and sacrifice.

I highly recommend this new book. Come to think of it all her books. They are so adorable, colourful with lovely illustrations throughout and great for small children to learn about some of the wonderful people that were and are a part of our lives and did great things they did.

Another fantastic title in the Little People, Big Dreams series. I chose this title because I knew absolutely nothing about Corazon Aquino but after reading other titles in the series I knew that this was someone I should discover and I was not disappointed. What an amazing and inspirational woman she was. The book is informative, easy to understand and very well illustrated. Perfect for big and little people.

This book is another wonderful example of the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series. I’d never heard of Corazon Aquino before and the troubles she went through. However, this inspiring story and beautiful illustrations has made me want to know more.

I LOVE the series ‘Little People, Big Dreams’. It covers a wide variety of inspiring individuals in such an appealing and accessible way. As more and more sets are added to it, some of the people featured are less well known to me. Corazon Aquino is one such person.

I loved reading about this amazing woman. Like other books in ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ the narrative is accompanied by gorgeously, colourful illustrations. As events are simplified to accommodate a large range of readers, there are much welcomed facts and photos on a timeline at the back of the book with a brief suggestion of books for further reading.

I’ll definitely be reading more about this determined woman who, along with her husband did so much to free her country of corruption. I’m so glad that this role model has been given the spotlight by the duo of Sanchez Vegara and Hsu and I can’t wait to read more about the complexities of her journey.

I always make sure the school library is stocked with this series and will be purchasing a copy of this to add to my shelves!

At school I am aiming to get a bit more variety into the book area, including non fiction. So when I saw this on Netgalley I was keen to read it. A great little read with beautiful illustrations. I don't know how I have never heard of this inspirational lady before. Fantastic!

This was a really beautifully illustrated book about an inspiration woman I had never heard about. It was a fascinating story about a woman who grew up in tough times and went on to change the country she was born in after a time in exile! I always thoroughly enjoy these children's book and think they are the perfect gift!

I regularly buy the Little People, Big Dreams books for my children (6 and 4 years old) and we are always excited when new titles are added. I usually buy them about individuals I know about already but I was excited to read about Corazon Aquino as I knew very little about her prior to to reading this book. The cover alone would have attracted my attention as it is a gorgeous vibrant purple and Corazon is dressed in bright yellow - this would definitely appeal to children too. The illustrations throughout are superb - really bright and eye-catching - and are some of my favourite illustrations from this series of books. The story is really interesting. Some of the concepts mentioned e.g. dictatorship and democracy were completely lost on my four year old but led to questions and further discussion with my 6 year old. My only criticism is that the book only explains that Corazon came from a wealthy family in the further detail at the end. I think children need to understand privilege and that not everyone can be sent away to other countries for better education. The story could easily have explained this in the main content with something along the lines of “As Cory was from a wealthy family, they sent her to America to study..” I know the story later explains her selling her heirlooms to support her husband’s political aspirations, but again the concept of heirlooms was lost on my children. Overall, I think this is a good addition to the series but is more suitable for children of 6 and older.

Another great addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS collection.

This is a concise biography of Corazon Aquino, the first female president of the Philippines.

These biographies are age appropriate; inspiring and interesting, but not overwhelming. They have bright, beautiful illustrations, striking covers, and look great on a shelf together.

This book also recommends two further titles about Corazon Aquino at the end if your interest has been piqued.

Thank you to the publisher and #NetGalley for an advanced copy.
