I don’t often read short stories so was pleasantly surprised how wonderful this one was. I could picture lovely old Ethel with her faithful Scamp sat beside her by the window watching the world go by and reminiscing about the adventures she has with her beloved late husband. Thank you Cathy for another wonderful story.

Cathy Bramley is a firm favourite of mine, and this book certainly lived up to all of my expectations and more.
This short read sets the scene for the main character Fearne who finds herself completely lost after the passing o her brother following a motorcycle accident.
As she struggles to move on with her life, she forms a friendship with Ethel who lives next door. Seeing the relationship blossom between the generations is beautiful and heart warming, and really captured my heart.

Cathy Bramley’s books always feel like a warm hug on a cold night. They’re very comforting and cosy and always an enjoyable read.

This short story is a prequel or introduction if you like to the characters in Cathy’s next book and focuses on Fearne, grieving the loss of her brother & Ethel her elderly neighbour who Fearne helps out after she has a fall. the lovely story of how helping others can actually help you as much or more is heart warming and uplifting. I’m looking forward to the full length story featuring the pair - and of course the lovely Scamp the dog :)

It’s a moving story about the relationship between the young and the old and a loveable crossbreed dog called Scamp. It highlights perfectly the way animals can provide love, healing and companionship.

Another brilliant story from Cathy Bramley, this short story is the prequel to Cathy’s new Not to be missed series My Kind of Happy. The story sets the scene of the main character Fearne who is lost after the death of her brother in a motorbike accident. Finding it hard to move in she finds friendship with Ethel who lives next door. Helping Ethel gives Fearne a purpose and after Ethel has a nasty fall Fearne finds herself taking in her dog Scamp. This lovely story of how the younger and older generation find solstice in each other i warms the heart.
A definite 5 stars from me.

This is a teaser to a whole new series. There is not much in this to give a proper detailed review of. The writing is nice and the characters introduced to us are likeable but that is pretty much it. There is a cute old dog involved.
I would not have requested it had I known it was not a full story.
The presentation and narrative style probably indicate a very nice full version , whenever that is available to read.

This is a lovely short story about an elderly woman named Ethel, her dog Scamp and her young neighbour Fearne. Fearne is grieving for her brother who died and Ethel is lonely, so they both help to keep each other company and Fearne helps Ethel with her shopping. Scamp the dog loves them both and is always excited to be with them and receive some yummy treats from Fearne. This story will be continued in Cathy Bramley's next book, which I look forward to. I really enjoyed this short story.

Easy to read. Short story. Heartwarming and enjoyable lead up to what’s coming next. As always was not disappointed with this author love everything she writes

In this book Ethel lives alone with her dog scamp while her friend Fearne is still coming to terms with losing her brother and finding a way to carry on in life.

So when Ethel has a fall Fearne and Ethel realise how much a good friendship can help in life and being united by their shard love of Scamp helps the ladies friendship he united them, and it's a heart warming read to see how a pet can help lift spirits and bring others together.

I greatly enjoyed this book, thank you for giving me a preview copy. The plot was interesting and fast paced and I sympathised with the characters. This is the first novel I have read by this author but I hope it will not be the last!

Fearne has been hiding at home, she is more likely to watch other people’s adventures than to venture out herself. She enjoys helping her elderly neighbour, Ethel, with some shopping and walking her dog, Scamp, but finds it difficult to do much more. A gentle story to set the scene for Cathy Bramley’s new series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a wonderful gift!
A lovely short read, and the opportunity to get to know the wonderful, stoic Ethel. Her young, grieving neighbour Fearne, not forgetting, the larger than life Scamp.
Initially, you think it is Fearne rescuing her elderly neighbour, but is Ethel helping to rescue Fearne?

As ever, Cathy’s wonderful writing already makes me feel that the residents of Pineapple Road are old friends.
Looking forward to reading My Kind Of Happy, to see where their lives take them, and me with them.
