Lovely feel good book. Very well written. Nice characters. Although Annie could be infuriating. Heart warming to read

A cute story of new beginnings. Annie is a lovely character and I enjoyed all the descriptions of the countryside and the lovely village of Thorndale. Lots of great characters, good storylines a good setting for a new series so looking forward to the next book

I didn’t get on with this book. It failed to grab my attention at the start which unfortunately meant I struggled to get into it and therefore didn’t get very far with it.

While a good book with a solid story, it wasn't for me. Found the pace a tad too slow and rambling, and the details about the location and the region/area got pedantic and heavy to the point where I found myself asking myself where we were in the characters' story before the interruption of the landscape details. Just could not get into it, sadly

This was a really lovely, light-hearted read that provides you with entertainment and romance, allowing you to escape the world and get swept away by Annie's new beginnings.

Some books open with a bang, plopping the reader down into the height of drama. Others open with a whimper, showcasing the normal and rosy lives of their characters. The Cottage of New Beginnings, author Suzanne Snow’s debut novel, opens with an illegally parked car and some miscommunication. It’s somewhere between the two extremes and, frankly, in these topsy-turvy days, this low-stakes opening is appreciated.

That’s not to suggest Snow’s world is all flowers and sunshine. Her protagonist, Annie, returns to Thorndale, the village where she spent her childhood summers, after separating from her fiance. Looking for a distraction, she devotes her attention to restoring her grandmother’s cottage to its former glory. And while she’s thrilled to reconnect with old friends, there’s one new face that keeps popping up: Jon, a man of immeasurable talent that everyone seems to love—well, almost.

As the title suggests, this journey is all about new beginnings and Annie ultimately has to break old habits before anything fresh can blossom in her life. While Annie and Jon are seemingly meant for each other, that doesn’t stop each from dismissing the other based on a negative first encounter. Their constant uncomfortableness could be solved with a good talk, but neither seems up for the task, and the result is a fair bit of tension that’s genuinely fun. They’re running to an inevitable end, even if they don’t always see it. Plus, it helps that Snow almost seems to take glee in finding situations that force the two of them together.

Beyond the blooming romance, things are light. Annie rekindles platonic relationships while toiling away in a cottage that seems to subsist on a never-ending list of repairs. These are fun scenes that give Annie something to do, but there’s hardly any tension—and really, no time limit—when it comes to making her new home comfortable. Instead, this provides the house provides a peaceful backdrop as she comes to accept her new circumstances and, finally, the opportunities around her.

In a week filled with chaos, there’s perhaps no better place to escape than The Cottage of New Beginnings.

this book was so cute and precious. i'm so glad i got to read it. i love reading beautiful chick lit books. don't let that deter you. pick this one up!

This was a lovely introduction to a heartwarming new series. Annie returns to a cottage left to her by a godmother and manages to upset the locals. She's not looking for a new romance- but we follow her getting to know Jon. It was a very gentle book- but perfect for curling up at the end of a long day. I will definately pick up the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this book, written so well that it was incredibly easy to lose hours at a time reading it.
Great well-formed characters throughout and I warmed immediately to the main character, Annie. We follow Annie as she returns to the village she spent most holidays as a child, to the cottage left to her by her beloved Godmother. Gradually we learn he reasons behind Annie’s moved from Edinburgh & a deputy headship to rural Thorndale & a teaching job at the local primary, as she begins to share these with other characters in the book: childhood friend, Kirstie, new friend & unconventional vicar’s wife, Sam, and handsome Jon to whom Annie finds herself attracted.
It was wonderful to find a book where Christian faith was part of several of the characters’ lives and portrayed in a way that enhances their lives rather than holds them back. That said, towards the end I didn’t like Annie praying in bed and *boom* her prayer was answered in milliseconds and off she goes to sort her life out & live happily ever after. In fact, I feel the ending of the book really lets it down. It is such a naturally flowing book right up until the final chapter or two when things just become a bit much.. Now, I’m not one who doesn’t believe in answered prayer or new relationships moving extremely quickly in a matter of weeks (in fact, my husband of over 20 years is an example of both); however, I just found the ending too convoluted and it spoilt the story for me (it was heading for 5 stars until that point). Still an enjoyable read but sadly let down by the way the ending was formed & written in a rushed way that it felt everything happened on the final pages whereas it would have been more enjoyable to have a rekindling/reconciliation over the last few pages & Annie’s happy ending left for perhaps an epilogue set a little further down the line than the few weeks she & Jon were on/off.

This was my first book by this author, and a change of pace in the genres of books I typically read. I loved the descriptions of the village, but this book was just a little bit too "fluffy" for me. It would make a nice summer or spring read, but it wasn't my favorite. I had a hard time not rolling my eyes a few times.

This was a very simple story with no twists or turns. It wasn't bad it was just nothing new. The characters didn't feel fleshed out and it just fell a little flat compared to other books I have read. It wasn't badly written it just wasn't engaging for me.

Great book keeped me wanting more of the story all the way through. Love a good romance in the end. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great read ❤️

Annie has been left a cottage in the Thorndale village from her Godmother. She has just been dumped by her boyfriend for his ex. Annie has a few friends from her childhood in the village. She meets a cute guy right off but he is rude. She is distant but they do become friends.
This a sweet romance. I enjoyed it.

Jilted right before her wedding, Annie has moved to a new town in an inherited cottage to start over. She meets Jon, and romance ensues.

The is a very simple book with no plot twists. It concentrates solely on the romance between Annie and Jon. The ending is predictable. I would have liked some subplots to make the story more interesting. However, fans of romance novels may enjoy this book.

Such a sweet book!
I loved everything about it... including the lovely village... sometimes we all need A Cottage of New Beginnings!!

A lovely small village romance, learning to trust again after a failed relationship. Annie and Jon make a touching couple. Great 1st in series, can’t wait to read the next events in Thorndale village.

The Cottage of New Beginnings follow a girl named Annie, who decided she needed a fresh start following a breakup, so she moved into a quaint little village, into a cottage that she inherited when her godmother passed away. While in the village, she reunites with some old friends, she meets some new ones, and tries her best to steer clear of the handsome Jon.

I gave this book 3 stars. I liked it. The author knows how to paint a lovely picture of the village and the people there. As I read it, I could feel the small town vibes, and thought it would be a great place to visit. I really enjoyed the characters as well. Sam was so fun. I really loved being introduced to her. I also really loved Jon and his heart for service and the kids that he helped. However, at first, i didn't really feel anything towards Annie. I kind of thought she was a bit annoying. It wasn't until a bit later in the book that I felt a connection with her.

I felt like the writing was a bit all over the place, in certain spots. I also felt like the beginning dragged on a bit. It wasn't until I was halfway through with the book that I really felt like the pace picked up a bit.

All in all, i felt like this was a nice read. It was a very light hearted and enjoyable, with a lovely atmosphere. Thank you to Netgalley and Suzanne Snow for allowing me to read this book.

I read it when I was starting over myself and I felt like others would understand me too. Weirdly! I enjoyed reading the book and it gave me strength to start over again and keep going my way! Read it!

The Cottage of New Beginnings by Suzanne Snow is the 1st book in the Welcome to Thorndale romance series. I'm sorry to say I did not like this book. I enjoyed the characters, but I did not like the ending. I don't want to give any spoilers. I will try another book by Ms. Snow, but I don't recommend this book.
