This book was a sweet read. It was mildly predictable, but not in an eye rolling kind of way. I really enjoyed Annie. She had faced some heartbreak but wasn't just looking for a man to make it all okay. She was her own woman, tried to take care of things and made/reignited female friendships.

This story was a charming, quick read. The setting was dreamy and I think this book is perfect for a vacation or lazy weekend read.

Plenty of up and down emotions in this book making for a very enjoyable read.. This is one to be reread at a later date to be enjoyed once more. Very well written and thought out and well worth the 5 stars that I am giving. This really is a Cottage of new beginnings giving hope to certain characters. I recommend reading and enjoying this.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for this ARC copy in return for an honest review.

Annie moves to Thorndale village, where she spent most of her summer holidays as a child, after an ugly breakup with her fiance five days before the wedding. Her godmother had left Annie a cottage in Thorndale upon her passing. There Annie reunites with old and makes new friends. She is enamored with Jon, the most eligible bachelor in the village, who seems to be enamored with her as well.

The details of the village and surrounding area are lovely and well fleshed out. The secondary characters are interesting and likable. While this book is well written, it is completely lacking in plot outside the romance between Annie and Jon. Annie has a cottage to settle as well as a teaching job to prepare for, but these things are hardly mentioned as Annie moons for Jon day in and day out. Throughout the book, Annie is certain she should not rush into anything and be cautious with her heart. The end of the book is cliched and eye-roll inducing.

This book had so much potential to be a fun, light romance read set in the countryside of England. It was a solid 3 stars for me until the last few chapters when I realized that a cheesy cliche and complete about face of the main character's resolve were the ending of the book.

I would also mention that this is Christian romance. Jon is extremely religious, was shaped by his mission trips, and runs a Christian outreach program for teens. This is probably why Jon and Annie's romance is PG, which is not a bad thing, but seems to be completely unrealistic in today's society as well as the history Annie gives about her previous relationship.

To sum up, I would not recommend this book unless one is looking for a completely light, fluffy read that is completely about the romance and not much else. Thanks to Netgalley for the arc and a chance to read.

What a charming story! The tale begins with Annie's return to the cottage that her Godmother had left her in a bequest when she died. She returns to the cottage in order to escape heartbreak and a failed relationship. The cottage brings back many happy memories, as well as new friends. Annie feels like she never wants to give her heart away, ever again, but you never know who may be just around the corner. I loved the book and found that the storyline and the character development provided such interest that I had difficulty putting the book down. I really was looking forward to Sam having her baby. Please please write a followup!

I would like to thank Suzanne Snow, Canelo Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair honest review.

A lovely story of how Annie returns to the cottage her Godmother left her when she died to escape heartbreak and a failed relationship. The cottage brings back lots of happy memories as well as lots of new friends. She feels like she never wants to give her heart away ever again but you never know what or who is around the corner.
My only criticism is that the book finished too soon. I felt that the story should of at least continued until Sam had her baby. Unless of course there is to be a follow on book

What can I say here. Annie was infuriatingly annoying. What kind of person decides to wear towering stilettos for a walk through a village? Or chooses white linen pants and fancy sandals for a rural farm show then gets angry that her feet are dirty (dirt in a farm show imagine that) and sore from standing in bad footwear? Every decision she made was a poor one. Not sure what Jon saw in her to be honest but he wasn’t a catch himself.

The overtones of churchy related things did me in as well. Annie was basically like “oooh Jon loves the church he’s a missionary so I better get into the church too! Praise the lord!” Ugh. Also one more comment about Sam the “hip” vicars wife wearing Doc Martens or dying her hair (when pregnant!) and I was going to hurl.

Speaking of hurling there is a line where someone picks up their pet cat and “hurls him into the garden” way to go with the animal abuse.

Bleh.

This is such a delightful book that I read one wet and windy summer afternoon. It is the story of Annie returning to her childhood holiday home. A place she always felt welcomed, wanted and loved by her godmother Molly. Molly passed away and left the cottage to Annie. When Annie's relationship failed she was already in the process of selling her flat so it made perfect sense to settle somewhere she knew and so to Thorndale she came.

Annie's recent split has left her feeling low, her arrival in the village of Thorndale doesn't help her feel that she has made the right decision especially when she discovers her belongings left in the garden and also a run-in with a rather rude man.

The cottage is one of the memories as well as neglect and it takes time for her to settle. She soon finds herself in the midst of a community that is welcoming and very supportive. In fact, it seems that everyone is busy helping everyone else it is a wonder they have time for themselves.

The setting is lovely and the whole feel of the area feels very idyllic and charming. There is a nice romantic theme through this story, it is a slow-burning romance that starts gradually. The reason for that is the past lives of the two main protagonists.

This is one of those stories that slot very nicely into a charming and delightful read, it has a good storyline and is ideal for disappearing into. It is one I would recommend and I look forward to reading more in the series.

The Cottage of New Beginnings was a light, enjoyable read. The descriptions of the English countryside were delightful and idyllic. The story starts along with Annie moving to a quaint cottage after a broken engagement. Annie slowly finds herself and finds the bravery within to trust and fall in love again.

A lovely, gentle romance. A range of interesting characters and a tangled road to romance, all in a rural setting. Highly recommended.

I received a free ebook of this title from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I found the cover of this so appealing and requested it from NetGalley based upon that. I am a fan of Katie Fforde, Jill Mansell, Trisha Ashley, etc and this seems to be aiming at that same base. The lead, Annie is both a fun and sympathetic character and the village portrayal is lovely. The novel tells the tale from Annie’s return to the village and continues through her trials and tribulations as she finds her footing there, recovering from an engagement gone wrong. The plot seemed somewhat rushed to me, but nevertheless an enjoyable romance read.

Annie inherits her godmothers cottage in Thorndale . After her relationship breaks down she moves to the cottage desperate to put her life back together. But will she be able to put the past behind her and find happiness in Thorndale?

This is a great holiday read but sadly I found Annie annoying and childish. I just didn’t enjoy the book - sorry

Anne returns to the village after she inherited her godmother’s cottage. Finding and meeting Jon was a bonus. A nice feel good story, that is a great summer read. Would highly recommend this book and author.

Annie returns to Thorndale. Here she spent much of her childhood,

she’s looking to make a new start. she wants to fix her broken heart and the cottage which her godmother left her.
Clashing with Jon, Annie’s left thinking, was this a mistake, coming back here.

She’s aware the village has changed since she was last here and she’s not looking for more drama. But it seems, fate has other ideas.

Annie’s not looking for another relationship. But can I asking a risk on a new relationship be the answer to get over her heartbreak???

The story of Annie and Jon.

Annie is new to the village, moving in to the house left to her by her godmother. When she meets Jon they don't get off to the best of starts, but soon he is trying to make amends. Can Annie move on from what happened to her before she moved to the village?

An enjoyable read.
