A really fun vampire read for those who love twilight and a good YA book, I enjoyed this one a lot. Would highly recommend.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was really disappointed with this one unfortunately. The characters grated in me and I just found it to be a bit over the top.

I binged this book in one sitting- the story was very intriguing and left me wanting soo much more of the characters! And the love interest/story was soooo good!!

This was so much fun. I read this after binging the 5 Twilight films on Netflix so I was right in the mood for it. Despite it being a very chunky book I flew through it. It took me right back to the time the shelves were full of paranormal romances with covers in this style and I look forward to continuing the series.

Honestly, I am not a big fan of vampires, so I put off reading this book for a while. I wish I had read it sooner! I might be slightly obsessed with the series now. The world of Grace and Jaxon is unique, confounding and endlessly entertaining. I think every character surprised me at some point, and I was not able to predict anything accurately. I mean this in a positive way! If you want vampires that are not reminiscent of the Cullen clan, CRAVE is a book you should pick up. Action, obsession, off the rails fun, hot guys, girls with fragile strength and caboodles of conflict-this story has it all!

A really weird mashup of Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and Wizards of Waverly Place that sadly doesn't quite capture the magic of any of them. This was a disappointing read.

Vampires are back and I'm here for it! CRAVE has strong Twilight-vibes so I think fans of that series won't be disappointed. It doesn't add a lot to the genre but it was a comforting and nostalgic read.

I loved this book if you love twilight and vampires then this book is for you it’s a chunk of a book but it so worth it I loved every page the characters were amazing and the writing style was lovely. I loved the mystery side of it x

Crave is an interesting one. Everything moves so fast at the beginning that Grace’s obsession seems a little weird to me. But, at the same time, the plot doesn’t really move until around the halfway point.

The description in the blurb about Jaxon being a vampire doesn’t even get revealed until halfway through the book! This is why I hate blurbs.

However, I did really enjoy the development and the depiction of grief in this. We see it from so many different angles. It’s a disappointment that we don’t get to know Jaxon’s friends like at all. I could only tell you one of their names. But I did enjoy that there was a fairly good diversity along the cast - even the main characters who feature a lot.

Overall I really enjoyed the novel but I hope there will be less insta love.

To be honest, 'Crave' is yet another book that I requested on NetGalley only because of that awesome cover (apparently, don't judge a book by its cover is too hard for me to follow). I expected it to be like Twilight, but I certainly did not expect to enjoy reading it this much.

We follow the story of Grace Foster, who recently lost both her parents in a car accident. She moves to an elite boarding school in Alaska- Katmere Academy which is run by her uncle Finn. As she struggles to set into her new life and new school, she finds out that nothing at Katmere Academy is normal. To start with, her schoolmates are all paranormal creatures.

The characters are realistic and relatable (except for the fact that they are all supernaturals)- Grace is a not-so-perfect teenager trying to cope up with loss, Macy is the best cousin one could ever have, Flint is the guy who makes people swoon using his all-too-charming smiles and Jaxon is the mysterious, big, bad, broody popular guy. The writing is simple and easy to follow. I loved the dad jokes that Jaxon and Grace texted each other and the way how 'Legacies' and 'Twilight' are incorporated into the story. And the title of each chapter was hilarious (reminds me of Percy Jackson). The plot twist was wonderful, breathtaking and I totally did not see that coming. And the cliffhanger really makes you feel like you are hanging from a cliff!

The thing I did not like about 'Crave' is that it has lots of cliches. The bad boy cliche of Jaxon, the instalove cliche between Grace and Jaxon, the-damsel-in-distress-who-needs-to-be-protected cliche to name a few. Also I was annoyed by Jaxon sometimes. I was also annoyed by the fact that everyone kept hinting towards a big danger. And I certainly did not like the three chapters of Jaxon's perspective.

Overall, the book is good, nothing extraordinary, but it is thoroughly enjoyable (It is my guilty pleasure now) and that is exactly why I rated this novel 4 out of 5. I recommend it to fans of Twilight, Vampire diaries, Legacies, Vampire Academy and all the vampire books and shows in existence.

I really enjoyed Crave! It was really reminiscent of 2010 vampire books and it felt really nostalgic to read. I also really loved the mystery aspect of the book. I can't wait to see where this series goes in the next book

After the loss of her parents, Grace moves to Alaska to move, where her uncle and cousin live. Her uncle is a principal of the boarding school, and this is where she will live. She didn’t expect how much different her life will be in Alaska, and it’s not only the temperature difference. From day one, she notices how strange this school and its students are. She is in a center of attention from the time of her arrival, and it’s not because she’s new.

However, there is only one person that catches her attention; Jaxon Vega. Incredibly handsome and dangerous. From day one, he unexpectedly saves her life. He’s always keeping an eye on her as if something could happen to her at any second. He’s not mistaken, and Grace learns about it soon enough. Everything she knew about this school and family was covered under a major secret hidden from her. She discovers that her family and all the students aren’t humans, but witches, vampires, dragons, and many more, and Jaxon is the most powerful of them all.

Review:

I’m obsessed with this story. Let’s start with the fact that world-building is so original and exciting. I love the idea of born vampires, royalty, and war between different species. Moreover, how amazing is this that this book contains dragon shifters? I always loved books that had dragons in the story but dragon shifters and a new level. Moreover, the change in the vampire history, powers, and hierarchy was very interesting. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this book when I found out that it’s about vampires. I’m not a big fan of vampires anymore but I would regret it if I wasn't. This version of vampires is amazing and inspiring. She changed the blood-sucking creatures into powerful royalty, who can start an earthquake. I’m still amazed by this.

Moreover, the structure of the story is so unexpected. From the beginning, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know which way the story will go, and how many twists it will contain. Moreover, I couldn’t recognize who the villain of the story was until the author revealed it. Most of the time you can say who’s suspicious, however, in this book anyone could be the villain.

I think it’s a good time to talk about two main characters: Grace and Jaxon. Grace is a very smart, caring, and brave character. She knew she was in danger, however, she didn’t run away back to California because of it as most people would do. She didn’t let anyone control her life. She was following her heart, which wasn’t the smartest choice very often, however, I can understand it. I adore her relationship with Jaxon. I think she was the only person that could make him smile. I think she brought a little bit of normality to his life after what happened to his brother. She didn’t know anything about his past so he could show her the real him, not what everyone else thinks about him. In the beginning, I thought this will be haters to lovers kind of story but surprisingly it went a completely different way. I don’t know if you could say that it was a forbidden kind of love, because the only person that was against it was Jaxon but I think we can fit it in this category.

Jaxon is the most powerful character in the book. From the beginning, I couldn’t figure him out. He has this weird obsession to keep Grace safe, even if it meant watching her every time she left her room. I’m grateful that it has been explained by the end of the book because otherwise, it would be a little bit creepy. When he’s got closer with Grace, we could also see his romantic side, which is adorable. I wish I could tell you about all of them but I think it’s better if you discover them yourself.

Twilight was a book that got me back to reading YA again, so when this was called this generation’s Twilight it definitely caught my attention. I love a good vampire story! I have to say the hype had me hesitant for quite some time. Normally when books are so popular I normally end up enjoying them less than I would if it wasn’t so much. The friend I was reading this called Crave a train wreck and I think that’s a good description, because even though it’s nuts and a bit too much at times you just can’t look away.

The main character Grace recently lost both of her parents in an accident and her uncle brings her to Alaska to live with him and her cousin at the boarding school he runs. Just reading the beginning of this book I don’t know if I’d be able to do it. I don’t do cold well and let’s just say this sounded like the extreme conditions I wouldn’t do well in. The boarding school was described and I have to say it sounds like an amazing place to live. I’d love to explore that library! That’s every book lover’s dream and the librarian sounds like an amazing person.

The plot is definitely a bit crazy. It’s clear from the start something is up at this school, but it seems like it’s been determined to keep Grace in the dark. She even mentions a few times that something feels off and that people are hiding things from her. I would too if I was almost killed a few times during my first week of school. There were so many chances to give poor Grace a heads up and I remember yelling at the book to just tell her already, haha. Also, a lot of the mystery elements are easy to spot from a hundred miles away. The twist and turns in this book were actually pretty predictable and if you kept your attention focused while reading the hints were hard to miss.

Also, Crave has something I despise: instalove! Grace is at the school for a few days and is already madly in love with Jaxon (the bad boy) and even half dead she jumps out of bed to see if he’s okay. It was all just a bit much. Don’t get me wrong, I have a feeling Jaxon would be a character I’d come to love it just wasn’t so over the top. I need more of a build up and slow burn to the relationships in some books.

That being said, Crave gave me a lot of the nostalgia I was looking for a in a YA vampire book. I love the pop references and the feel for this book. The chapter titles had me laughing and I hope we continue to get those throughout the series. Some of the side characters were fun and I’m really hoping they’re wrong about one of them, but only reading Crush will get me my answers! I know I definitely had some issues with this one and I don’t know if I would continue reading by myself, but this book was so much fun to talk about while reading. I can’t wait to see where this train wreck goes!

I just didn’t really like it...

I can’t tell if it was supposed to be a spoof of twilight or what, but I also don’t think it was? Honestly just super confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

There were bits that I’m kind of intrigued about... but there was SO much angst and for a nearly 600 page book I want to at least partly enjoy myself. I will try Crush but if that’s the same I guess it will be a DNF/not continuing.

Bonus points though I loved the titles per chapter they were so funny!

Didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would, very cliché and cringeworthy sorry.

An interesting take on the vampire YA genre. The writing is good and sharp, I liked the snarky asides the MC had to herself at times. There is plenty of world building and good crafting of the story.
On the other hand, the story is laboured at times and the story predictable. The characters could be frustratingly naive at times and the book will unfortunately be compared to Twilight.
On the whe, a good book.
