This was a great book that had me turning the pages quickly to find out what was going on. The suspense started from the start with an awesome ending. It is told in 2 different timelines , lots of twists and turns. It was definately a creepy story in an isolated location. I really enjoyed this book and I cant wait to read more of her books.

Set in the Scottish Highlands the atmospheric writing leads to a good, dark read. Lots of twists and surprises. A great psychological thriller.

Amelia’s mum has terminal cancer and wants one last holiday with the family, daughters Amelia, Lark, boyfriend Jackson and ex-husband Robert, son Thomas and his career Maddie. They go to Drummondale House in the Scottish highlands. One night Lark and Jackson disappear into thin air. Despite searches, the pair are never found. Amelia’s mum sadly passes away never knowing what happened to Lark and Jackson.
One year on, to mark the anniversary, the family returns to Drummondale House and hope to find out what really happened. Things take a turn when the accommodations owner is found dead and a family friends daughter goes missing. They are snowed in and emergency service’s cannot access the area.
A plot told from different character perspectives both one year ago and present day. A gripping read you will want to get though in one sitting. A new author to add to my favourite list!

Nicely written and an enjoyable read with enough twists to keep the reader guessing.

This one was ok. I wasn’t sitting on the edge of my seat or biting my nails like I would’ve liked but there were definitely elements I found intriguing. I wanted to get down to the bottom of what happened and I enjoyed the little twist and turns I got in the end.

MY goodness, Amanda Brittany writes a great murder mystery/psychological thriller. I Lie in Wait kept me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. I have never been disappointed by any of her books and I loved this one too. It is a creepy and atmospheric story that definitely has Agatha Christie vibes.

Cozy mysteries are fast becoming a fave genre of mine, I need more of them.

The plot line of this book was excellent but I'm not a great fan of a story told simultaneously in two timelines as I find it distracting, but despite this the book is well written with an unexpected twist at the end which I didn't see coming which is why I'll give it the 4 stars.

This is a difficult book to review - there are two curveballs which I defy anyone to see coming which make this a very clever tale - so 5 stars for that!
I found it a little strange that the timing was Present Day and A Year Ago with an occasional Now - our victim chained up hoping everyone doesn't think they are dead, but losing hope as time passes. Most of the story is told from Amelia's point of view and she has her own demons to contend with.
The setting is the same for both periods of time in the Scottish Highlands - a year ago unusual fine weather and sunshine and in the Present Day a more typical snow storm which cuts their holiday home off from civilisation. There is plenty of action and plot twists and yet sometimes I felt the story dragged out a little. Most of the characters were not explored fully but Amelia was given a full characterisation.
I will definitely read more by this author. Three and a half stars for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Amanda Brittany/HQ for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

A missing sister. A missing lover (moms’ lover). A dead mom. All that happened a year ago. The family was still trying to pick up the pieces when Amelia’s dad wanted to go back to the place from where the sister went missing. Drummondale House. And this year too, a missing child. Murdered bodies.

My first book by author Amanda Brittany, the book was filled with twists and blind alleys. The Drummondale House with the blizzard in the present time set the right atmosphere for the mystery. With every character having something to hide, the author could play the Blindman’s Buff with me.

The twist that stole my breath came absolutely at the end when I thought I had it all figured out, but the scenario I was left with was so not in my list of theories.

But the book was not with its niggles. The chapters written in the past and present had the same characters and the same setting. So I had to keep reminding myself where I was. That slowed down the book for me.

Overall, it was a tale of twisted minds where they played to the idiom – To thine own self be true.

Amelia has been persuaded by her boss to take time off work after losing her baby and splitting up with her partner.

She decides to visit her father and brother, but when she gets there she discovers that they are getting ready to go to Drummondale House in the Scottish Highlands. The house where a year ago her sister Lark went missing. Her father is hoping to find out what happened to Lark.

Amelia decides to go with them even though her instincts tell her it’s a bad idea!!

This is such a great thriller that kept me hooked from the first page. Loved how the cottage’s isolated location and bad weather built up the tension and made it creepy, with the power cut and then a woman cries out .. well that definitely gave me goose bumps and I’m pleased I wasn’t reading this at home on my own!!

The ending was definitely not what I was expecting!! WOW I had to reread it to make sure I had not read it wrong.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review

Ok, this one while a great concept had me somewhat confused during the time sequences. We meet Amelia whose sister has disappeared a year ago while the family was on vacation. The police have nothing to go on, no tips, no body, and certainly no ransom. So what could have happened to Lark? Amelia decides that she is bound and determined to look for her and goes back to the vacation spot and even stays at the same place. While there another young woman is taken hostage which makes Amelia think that maybe both women are still alive. The problem for Amelia is that someone knows she’s there and also why. The story (as well developed characters and a suspense that takes the reader on a ride of his/her life. The only issue I had was the protagonist moving through different times in the story as it was almost discernible as to which we are reading as far as past or present. For that being the only issue, I give this book a 4.

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

One year ago, Amelia's sister, Lark, disappeared while on a family vacation. The police are convinced she was taken, but there's never been any leads, witnesses, no body has ever been recovered, never a ransom note. So what happened to her?

Amelia wants answers ... and she is set on reliving the time spent on holiday... staying at the same cottage. On her second night there, she hears a scream ... another girl has disappeared.

The more she investigates, the more she feels that both girls are still alive.

There's someone out there that wants Amelia to go home ... to quit looking for answers. They are willing to do anything to keep the truth from Amelia .... even willing to kill for it.

Cleverly plotted, the suspense starts on the first page and doesn't let up until the unexpected, surprising conclusion. Told by Amelia in two timelines, it was a bit confusing as they seemed to be the same. A few twists and turns kept the deftly drawn characters and varied suspects front and center.

Many thanks to the author / HQ Digital / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

1 year ago, Amelia’s sister Lark vanished into thin air from a family holiday cottage , convinced she was abducted but with no leads the case has gone cold.
Now In present time, Amelia and her father have gone back to the cottage to try retrace their steps in hopes to find a vital clue in finding Lark.
However on the second night another girl has gone missing and someone is determined to make sure their secrets stay hidden.

Another book with a split timeline which I admit I do like. Very intense at times, lots of twists and turn with a very unexpected ending! Love a boo that keeps me guessing.

I loved this.

So fast paced and dark with so many amazing and interesting twists!!!

I thought the character was completely relatable and still likable despite her personal tragedies.
I had a theory on how it was going to end earlier on but quickly changed my mind because of clues only to find out I was right.

I also love that there were multiple reveals here

I lie in wait is a suspense thriller set in the Scottish Highlands and people stuck in the estate because of the terrible weather and snow.
The narration is in now and then format. Amelia narrates their trip to the vacation home and their time in the vacation home one year back.

Caroline, Amelia’s mother, had cancer and wanted to take a trip with her family for one last time. She was separated from Robert, Amelia’s father, and came with her partner Jackson. But the day Lark goes missing, they never saw Jackson, again. Between losing her mother and sister disappearing, Amelia’s relationship with her partner William becomes strained and they part ways.

The books start with Amelia’s narration but are interspersed with Ruth’s, the owner of the estate, narration. The reader can see the major characters through her eyes, which gives readers a wider perspective.
Brittany’s writing is interesting, and she used uncanny elements to describe the vacation home. Trapped in a snowstorm with a probable kidnapper/killer on the loose couple with no electricity and a masked will bring in the absolute thrill.

The book ends in a two-fold twist that the reader will not see coming.
The book is intriguing and addictive from the start.

My rating is 4 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and HQ for the free copy of the book for my honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for the arc of this book by Amanda Brittany.

5 star read for me- had me on the edge of my seat, a quick read for me as it was very page turning and i was engrossed and wanting more. This follows a year long disapperance of Amelia's sister named Lark, she disappeared without any traces left at all.... on their scottish holiday. The case turned into a cold case as the police were determined in that she was abducted but no leads to go off...

I loved this book ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
