A slow burn of a psychological thriller about three kidnapped sisters and told over two timelines. A competent story but lacking a bit of wow factor.

Wow! This book was gripping from start to finish definitely one to get comfy and prepared for the long haul because once you start it's difficult to tear yourself away from it.

The book ventures between now and 20 years ago as the anniversary of the Stolen Sisters fast approaches. It explores how twins Marie and Leah and their big sister Carly have coped (or not) since being snatched outside their parents house 20 years previously.

An enthralling read and one that will stay with me for a whole I'm sure. Thanks to netgalley for the copy on exchange for an honest review.

This fantastic, nail-biting thriller was not what I was expecting. Just when you think you’ve cracked it another twist blows your theory and leaves you once again guessing. This book set in two timelines explores your worse fears and gets into your head.

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends

Another brilliant story from this talented writer. It’s your worst nightmare and even worst when it’s your fault. Three sisters stolen off the street. But what if it’s not all what it seems? Read on!

This was a compelling story of three sister who disappeared 20 years earlier. The story is about the girls life now and how the past affected their lives. Lots of twists and turns.

The Stolen Sisters is a tense psychological thriller based on the abduction of three sisters. It’s told through the accounts of the sisters in the present day, with flashbacks to the actual crime. It’s full on suspenseful and has several twists and turns, all unexpected by me. The attention to detail is so precise and explicit, I felt that I could see, hear and smell the situation at times.

My only criticism is that I struggle to believe that the experience the sisters went through in the past had resulted in such trauma as adults. But maybe I overestimate the resilience of children.

My thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins Publishers for a copy of this book.

This is the first of Louise Jenson’s books that I’ve read, although I have seen lots of praise for them. I’m pleased that I have read one now and I will definitely be seeking her other books out. I found this one a little slow to start, but the tension and paranoia gradually built and I found myself very much invested in the story. There were plenty of twists in the tale (some a little easier to predict, but still enjoyable) and some genuinely shocking moments. The characterisation is very well constructed too and I found that I could fully empathise with the sisters, even if they weren’t always likeable all of the time. It’s the sign of an accomplished author that as a reader you feel fully invested in the characters, even if you don’t necessarily like them. I found this to be a thought-provoking and taut read, which I would recommend to psychological thriller fans.

A little late to review this one.

I started this one a few times, and although I found it a little slow and drawn out once I got into the story and the movement between past and present and different view points. I’m glad I continued reading.

Another cracking thriller from Louise Jenson!

It's been nearly 20 years since the Sinclair Sisters disappeared for days. Now Carly and her younger sisters Leah and Marie struggle every day with the notoriety it gave them. Leave struggles to lead a normal life, fearing every stranger and for her young sons safety. Marie copes by numbing the pain, fear and guilt with alcohol. And Carly berates herself constantly, sure that she didn't do enough to protect her sisters. As the anniversary approaches, and the media's attention turns to them again someone decides the real truth needs to come out. No matter what the consequences

Jensen is an expert at building the tension in her books. Paranoia and suspicion oozes from every word. As always she crafts characters that whilst you may not like them that much you can empathise. The twists in this are many, some a bit easy to see coming but some come like a bolt from the blue. This is definitely a hard to put down book!

Twenty years since the Sinclair sisters were abducted and, for all three, the trauma and feelings of guilt continue to haunt their lives. As the anniversary looms, events indicate that the person responsible is again entering their lives.

A well-constructed and plotted novel. It starts slowly as the reader discovers the events leading up to the kidnapping and learn how the sisters are coping with everyday life. As the story progresses, there are a number of surprising twists which add a real edge to proceedings. The multi-narrative approach allows the reader to know facts which are unknown to other characters.

The final chapters are tense and compulsive and the resolution is satisfying without being overly simplistic or sentimental.

A superb thriller which encourages this reader to seek out more of the author's work. Highly recommended.

This was a great read, not always a fan of stories that jump different timelines as they can be a bit confusing but this wasn’t the case with this book. Good, well written plot and story line that had me wanting to read more as the story unfolded.
I found the characters believable and likeable
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review

Cleverly told in 2 timelines. Utterly edge of the seat gripping, racing to read as quick as possible
Nearly read in a day but it made it by the skin of its teeth to day 2

The Stolen Sisters

Almost 20 years ago the Sinclair sisters Carly, Leah & Marie were abducted in broad daylight. But the horrors they faced while they were captive are nothing compared to the horrors they each face everyday & the ones yet to come. They all have their secrets & they all have their memories - can they possibly have a future?
This was such an enjoyable book. It’s written from several points of view and at the time of the abduction and the present day - but this was well explained and I didn’t find it jumped about too much at all (as can often be the case). It was full of clever twists & turns that kept me (incorrectly) guessing until the very end. In fact I stayed up until the early hours to finish it. A really great thriller that put my nerves on each, turned my stomach and made my hold my girls a little tighter.

I absolutely love Louise's book and have read them all. So as soon as this popped up on Netgalley, I just had to have it! Louise is a very talented author. She draws you into her stories and grips you throughout with numerous shocks and twists which make it impossible to put down. The descriptive writing also makes it very easy to build up pictures in your mind which makes the story much more enjoyable.

The story starts with the abduction of the Sinclair sisters. We then jump forward twenty years but their nightmare hasn't ended there. It is interesting to see how they have all dealt with what happened in their own different ways. They have plenty of unanswered questions which we gradually find out the answers to. Answers noone was expecting, including myself! What a twist!!

Louise is a fantastic writer and I cannot recommend this book enough. It has it all. Family, loss, suspense, twists... I could go on. It is fast paced, packed with tension and will have you biting your nails on the edge of your seat.
