I feel awful leaving a negative review but this book just did not strike me at all. It was a really good concept but it just fell a bit flat for me. I felt it was quite repetitive throughout and I found Leahs issues quite annoying. There were some interesting plot twists and I started to get a bit more intrigued by part three but by then I was a bit worn out with it all. That being said it was well written, as Louises books always are this just wasn’t my favourite. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and HQ for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Leah, Marie and Carly were abducted as children. The Sinclair sisters, the stolen sisters. Although they survived the harrowing ordeal, they never fully recovered and as adults, the horror of that event still haunts them. Discovering why they were taken and who was responsible does nothing to quell their fear or help them come to terms with it. As the 20th anniversary approaches, the ghosts of their past come back to break them. This was a great story. Flipping between the time of their abduction and their present day, it's a tale that keeps you turning the pages. The characters are brought to life well and are very believable. The twists are unexpected and the secrets revealed are unexpected. Very well written. If you enjoy this, I can also recommend "The date" by the same author

Louise Jensen is one of my go to authors and this book certainly didn't disappoint. This one tells the story of 3 sisters who are kidnapped, Carly is 13 and her twin sisters Marie and Leah are 8. We know from the outset that the sisters escape as we meet them again when they are 20 years older. Each sister is trapped in her past and the repercussions of the kidnap have affected them in different but equally horrific ways. As the eldest, Carly has always blamed herself for not keeping her sisters safe. Each of the sisters have gone down destructive paths and life hasn't treated any of them kindly.
I love the way the story goes back and forward between past and present as we start to find out the motivations behind the kidnap and the repercussions that tear the family apart. There are some real shocks along the way and I felt there was a real sadness in the book.
I would recommend all of Louise Jensen's books, they really are a great read if you enjoy psychological thrillers and family dramas.

‘It’s so hard keeping secrets’, one of the characters in Louise Jensen’s latest novel, The Stolen Sisters, says, and the novel proves this statement is entirely true. At the heart of this fast-paced, gripping novel are three sisters, Carly and twins Leah and Marie, who were kidnapped as young children. There are two timeframes – one featuring the sisters as children and one as adults – and their struggles with addition, anxieties and obsessive-compulsive disorders are convincingly portrayed. Other characters are also very well drawn, such as Leah’s husband George who keeps secrets of his own. The suspense is ramped up when, in the run-up to the 20th anniversary of their kidnapping date – the sisters start receiving anonymous letters. At times there seemed almost too much going on in this novel, but Louise Jensen masterfully weaves all the various strands of the novel into a compelling plot. So gripping you will want to read on and on to find out what happens next!

Louise has done it again! Every book I read of Louise's just gets better and better. She is an amazing Author. Her books are action packed from the start and this is no different. My heart was in my mouth after the first couple of chapters. This is the story of 3 sisters who get abducted by someone they don't know. Their story of their time in captivity and then as adults looking back on that and how their lives are affected. Louise make you really feel huge empathy for the characters in her style of writing. There are a few massive surprises in this book I would never have guessed, but I'll leave that up to you to discover! You will not regret reading this book!

An absolutely brilliant book. I loved it. it's a very long book but is fascinating. Very well written. Another gem from one of the best authors out there.

The book begins at a fast pace. Carla is asked to look after her younger twin sisters Leah and Marie, but she has been expecting her boyfriend to contact her and becomes impatient with them. Bruno, the dog escapes through the gate and as the sisters search for him they are cruelly abducted.
Set in two time perspectives, when the abduction happened and present time, the story is told by several characters which gives a rounded account of what actually happened. As it is the 20th anniversary of the abduction, and one of the perpetrators has just been released from prison, tension and anxiety increase within the sisters, all suffering various mental health problems.
This is an expertly plotted, fast-paced story. Tension increases on reaching the end of each chapter which is dramatic and full of suspense. The harrowing, graphic descriptions of the squalor the sisters were forced to endure, leaps from the page.
Lots of unexpected twists and turns as the story unfolds makes this a compelling, gritty thriller which you can’t put down. Highly recommended.

There is nothing that gets me reading faster than an exciting thriller with chapters from different perspectives. In this novel, there are three in the first part - one from our main protagonist Leah set in the present, another from her husband which is also in the present and then finally a third from her older sister, Carly, which is set when the girls were kidnapped. These change slightly in part two, but I'll let you discover those for yourself so as not to give anything away.

I was completely hooked from the minute I started reading and as a lot of the chapters ended on an exciting note I just had to keep going to find out what happened and what was coming next. The chapter endings did feel rushed but I don't feel it took away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

I also thought that the author dealt with Leah's OCD extremely well and you could tell a lot of effort had gone in to the research behind it.

If you enjoyed Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris, you will also love The Stolen Sisters.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a highly memorable psychological thriller.

When aged 8, twins Leah and Marie, along with teenage step sibling Carly are ‘stolen’ from their home and held captive. Fast forward 20 years and the girls are all struggling to cope with the anniversary of their abduction.

Leah and Carly receive creepy notes counting down to the anniversary, but who is sending them and why? Leah keeps seeing a mysterious man who clearly terrifies her, but is he stalking her, or a figment of her imagination? Her fears escalate when she discovers he has just been released from prison. She has good reason to believe he bears a grudge against her but with a history of mental illness will anyone believe he poses a threat to her...?

You certainly get bang for your buck with this well crafted novel, as with 2 distinct but related timelines, the reader is treated to 2 epic tales in one!

Author, Louise Jensen, proves once again that she is a master of her trade with character development that is totally on point. Just enough detail is given at appropriate junctures in the story to make some fairly complex characters relatable, likeable and utterly fascinating! This is what really made the novel work for me and kept my attention until the end (no mean feat!)

My thanks to Louise Jensen for entertaining with her spectacular storytelling abilities and additional thanks to publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

OMG I love Louise Jensen books, but this has by far surpassed them all, and in fact many psychological thrillers I have read. The book is about 3 sisters abducted, and works across two time lines - when they were younger and the abduction, and then when they are older and the effects of the abduction on each sister. Dealing with issues of OCD, Substance abuse, inabilities to trust and have relationships, or even wanting children. But then you have all the twists and turns throughout. Really had me on the edge of my seat throughout, and a real page turner. I was kept guessing, and got it wrong each time I thought I knew what was happening. Just amazing, and words can't even express how much I enjoyed this book. This is going to be a hard book to beat with the authors next book for sure!

3 sisters kidnapped when they were children, and now as the 20th anniversary of this awful abduction approaches, we get to read what happened then and the after affects on all of them now.

The story is told through the eyes of the 3 sisters Carly, Leah and Marie, as well as Leah’s husband George.

The author breathes life into all her characters and my heart was racing as the sisters relived their kidnapping and felt their pain and betrayal as they discovered some shocking secrets from those they thought they could trust.

Twist after twist, I didn’t see the big one coming! Thank you NetGalley and HQ for an advanced copy of this great page turner!

Its twenty years since Carly and her step twin sisters Leah and Marie were kidnapped. The trauma has left scars which have not healed. Leah has contamination OCD, Marie has a drink problem and Carly suffers from guilt that this happened to her younger sisters while they were in her care.
Even though The Stolen Sisters is about the consequences of the abduction rather than the whys and wherefores of it, the reasons for it are dangled in front of the reader for most of the book and eventually revealed. By this stage I am afraid this reader was worn out. This thriller is well written, meticulously plotted with the exception perhaps of the motive provided for whether Leah had Fregoli Syndrome or not. Leah’s husband George is a shadowy and wonky character too.
Why did I not really enjoy it (and I seem to be on my own in that), well, I’m not sure. It had a bit of an excitable YA feel to it, but it was also a veritable page turner.

Many many people have and will enjoy this book.
With thanks to Netgalley and HQ

I am sorry but this was not a book for me. The story revolves around 3 sisters who had suffered a terrible experience but 20 years later none of the three were able to get on with their lives.
They seem to encourage each other in their anxiety and see their own situation as impossible to overcome.
The events seem highly improbable and I found the style of using a “cliff hanger” at the end of every short chapter overdone, especially as the secret was not revealed until near the end although the references began early in the story.
I was disappointed.

Review for the Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen

From the off this book had me gripped. The story was paced perfectly and the number of twists and turns was amazing. Right to the end I didn’t know which way the story would go. I have never read a Louise Jensen book before but shall now seek her out. This book must be made into a film, it’s totally absorbing, so much so that I read it in two sittings. The three sisters were totally believable and I felt that they mattered to me, such good writing. I can’t praise it highly enough, an excellent read.

Almost twenty years ago three young sisters are taken by two masked men.
Now there it is only a few days before the 20th anniversary of their abduction and all three sisters are finding life hard and have been left with problems because of their traumatic experience.
The story is told in a Now and Then format by each of the sisters.
It has some twists and turns and some scary moments.

I was lucky enough to be able to read this book from NetGalley prior to publication and I loved it. Louise Jensen is definitely back to her best with this book.

There were so many twists and turns that I definitely did not see coming and kept me wanting to read it.

The story is based on the after effects of a kidnap of Carly and her half twin sisters Leah and Marie. It’s 20 years since the kidnap and they all still struggling with coping. With lots more revealed about what they thought they knew about the kidnap.

I can’t say any more without giving the book away but I would definitely recommend this and it’s so good to have Louise back to her best.

Would give this 6 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if I could it’s that good!
