Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

An exciting collection of titles that I'm eager to read. I'm sloe to reading, but instantly ordered so many of the
titles

This free sampler is the equivalent of the small booklets that would be handed out at YALC, so it gives a taster of lots of books that Bloomsbury YA is going to publish in the coming months. There are some great samples in this, with chapters given that let you have a taste of what's forthcoming and whet your appetite. Lots of books that I'll definitely be picking up, especially Cinderella is Dead.

Great sampler of 6 upcoming new YA titles as expected they've all been added to the never-ending tbr.

Great to get this little sampler in lieu of attending YALC this year! A few new additions to my TBR.

thank you for a great sneak peek of these 6 books. I've already added them to my wish list. Can't wait to read them.

This was a great introduction to several books I have on my wishlist! I can't wait to read them!
Cinderella is Dead especially has me hooked - it sounds exactly like the sort of book I'll devour!

This is a treat! A sample from 6 forthcoming YA titles from Bloomsbury. Of course they were all added to my TBR list! Thank you for the exciting sneak peek

*Thank you to publishers and Netgalley for supplying me with this teaser Arc*
This was super interesting to read. Some of the books in it are ones I haven't heard much of but I can't wait until they come out. They seem really cool and the different genres given show that there is something for everything.

I was excited to read a few of the book sampled here but was unsure as to whether or not I should bump them up my to be read list. Well, after reading this sampler I now know exactly what I want to read.
I already knew that I was interested in reading Cinderella is Dead but I am not interested in reading both The Gravity of Us and Crescent City too!
Loved this short sampler.

Great choice of upcoming Young Adult Books. I had so much fun to read these examples. I want to read them all.

I have already read or preordered a number of the books from this sampler and so didn't re-read or read these to avoid spoilers.
Those I hadn't already pre-ordered were:
The Great Godden by Meg Rosoff: I didn't think this was one I would enjoy from the sampler, but I really did. I loved the setting, the family holiday house, the snippets of their family history and the characters, as well as the sense of unease that crept in right at the end.
The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper: Space isn't usually my jam, and a lot of the things in the sampler didn't hook me in. There's a lot going on and the video / vlogging aspect didn't really interest me. But I am very here for the friendships and the family drama in this.
This was a great sampler of books and I was so pleased to have a sampler even though YALC was not going ahead as normal. Thank you for this.

Ok so this is a mix of opening pages for some recent and upcoming releases. Overall it shows the range of novels that are being published for a YA audience in 2020 by Bloomsbury.
First up we have Cinderella is dead which I didn’t read as I had the novel on my TBR. I’ve since read it and enjoyed the world created for us following Cinderella and the Prince meeting at the ball, a ball that is now repeated every year. The land is rife for revolution as the women are kept at home and presented to the men when they reach a certain age. This follows the tale of a girl who dreamed of marrying the princess not the prince and what happens when she meets the descendant of the ugly step-sisters.
Next we have The Great Godden by Meg Rosoff I loved these opening pages, they felt like summer to me, the whole atmosphere was one of potential. We find a family who are off to a home by the sea for the summer. The first chapters here introduce the siblings and the neighbours as well as give us a feel for the area. This is perfect Rosoff, nice easy reading style to the writing and an enigma of what will this summer bring to the family in the first pages. The setup gave me the feels of the film the Way Way Back, that of a golden summer where anything is possible. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
In contrast the following sample takes us to the summer in the city. The Gravity of Us starts with a teen vlogger whose entire future is being threatened and questioned by his dad applying to the space programme. If he gets in they will have to move and, his career in media, may be over before it’s begun. I liked the feel of this writing and the plot has potential but I’m still unsure as if it is for me.
Strangely we now get an excerpt from Crescent City #1 which is an adult urban fantasy from the writer of throne of glass. I’d already devoured this in a day so skipped the sample but I can say this book made me want argue with the author in the first 100 pages, give up from boredom in the middle and how it broke my heart in the end 150. The pay off was well worth the plodding middle, I was amazed by one of the twists and love how the end came about. Would recommend.
We are Bound by Stars by Kesia Lupo takes us to a high fantasy world feel. The opening pages are full of scenic description which speak well of the world building but gave me nothing to hold my attention in the way of character. It appears to be setting up the scene for a high fantasy fight club with undercurrents of chosen one and rebellion. Not for me.
We finish with a historical fiction. The Enigma Game by Elizabeth Wein takes us to WWII where we enter fighter command and see the bad decisions that send planes unfit for the task off to try and fight the Germans. What follows is a review of how the mission happened and what comes next for burnt out survivors. Well written and captivating if you are interested in WWII.

A good selection of samplers of different books from different genre's. I am interested to pick up Crescent City and The Enigma Game!

Samples of a few of the upcoming books from Bloomsbury. Doesn't quite make up for missing YALC but better than nothing!

I'm so excited for all of these books, they sound so good! I'm so glad they made these samplers available!

I really enjoyed this little sampler offering a taste of upcoming or quite recently released book. I am particularly looking forward to a full version of Cinderella is Dead as I have heard great things from early reviews and found short except was intriguing

Great little sampler. Some really exciting titles coming up. Particularly enjoyed the snippet of Cinderella Is Dead. My poor tbr!

What a great look at a brilliant line up. I'm most excited about The Gravity of Us but all the titles look really interesting. I'll be watching out for them.

A great sampler of some amazing books that are coming out! I am particularly excited to read - The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper and The Enigma Game by Elizabeth Wein.
