BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Under Your Skin' by Rose McClelland .

This is the second book I have read by this author. It is also the first book in Rose's 'Detectives Simon and Kerry' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read 'In Too Deep' which is the third book in this series and I would also highly recommend it!

Love, love, LOVED this incredibly fast paced, addictive psychological thriller that is absolutely packed with secrets, twists and lies!!

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that really set the scene and put you in the storyline. The cover and synopsis suit the book perfectly.

This is another great book in Rose's 'Detectives Simon And Kerry' series!! The storyline was captivating and addictive from the first page until the last and I was completely invested in it. It was absolutely rammed full of lies, secrets, affairs, tension, romance, twists, suspense and everything you could ask for in a page turning psychological thriller. I just could not put this book down and finished it in one sitting. In this page turning novel Rose transports her readers to Belfast where we meet Kyle Greer whose wife Hannah has gone missing. He calls the police although it hadn't even been 24 hours as he insists it is not like her. We then meet Hannah herself and see from her perspective where she is currently in a basement. We then get to see what is going on from the perspective of Detective Kerry Lawlor as she and DI Simon Peters investigate the case of missing Hannah. Kyle decides to set up a #FindHannah campaign and ends up enlisting the help of Julia Matthews. However, Julia gets closer to the case than she ever could have imagined. With Kerry and Simon searching everywhere and digging deeper into the lives of those surrounding Hannah will they find out what happened before it is too late? Well, grab your copy to discover that for yourselves and I promise you will not regret it!!! I absolutely loved this series when I managed to read the third book first and am glad that I have gone back and read the first in the series and I have also read the second book which is called 'Out Of Your Head' so keep your eyes peeled for that coming later this week!! With a gripping storyline ram packed with secrets, mystery, friendship, romance, love, lies and so much more what on Earth are you waiting for? Rose does an absolutely incredible job of including both multiple protagonist perspectives along with multiple timelines giving the reader a bigger picture of what is going on and how each off the characters are thinking and feeling. in total the story is told from the perspectives of 5 different characters and Rose does an incredible job of weaving them altogether without causing any confusion and at the perfect times. This book was extremely fast paced with something constantly happening to keep you addicted. Every time I kept telling myself one more chapter the one I was in ended at a point where there was no way I could stop reading so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!! It was absolutely ram packed with mystery, secrets, tension, suspense and absolutely everything you could ask for in a psychological thriller. I was constantly guessing and questioning myself about who was behind what and when everything was revealed I was absolutely shocked and had been completely wrong about everything!! This is not an easy feat considering how many books I read a year so a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS Rose!!! Rose's evocative writing drags you deep into the storyline from the first sentence to the very last and will keep you up until the very last word! THAT ladies and gentleman is a true sign of an absolute must read. I absolutely loved the ending which was definitely an unexpected twist, not only finding out who did what but the mind blowing and unexpected ending!! I would absolutely LOVE to see this turned into a movie and would wait up all night to get tickets to watch it!! An absolute must read!! If you are a fan of 'Gone Girl' then you will love this!

Do not start this book until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!

The characters have a mix of personalities and are all strong and realistic. I was shocked by the fact that although I could not stand the majority of the characters I still loved the book! It is very rare that if I dislike the characters in a book that I am able to get stuck in to it yet alone finish AND LOVE it so an absolutely HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Rose for managing to do both!!! I absolutely love the fact that we get to see how so many of the characters are feeling and what they are thinking, it gives the reader a huge picture of what is going on but Rose still manages to keep so many secrets hidden too. The only characters I actually really liked were Guy, Sergeant Kerry Lawlor and DCI Simon Peters. Kerry and Simon made a great team and both had fantastic likeable personalities. I love the fact that they were open minded with the case and didn't believe everything they were being told. I was also really intrigued by Guy. I won't say anything else as I don't want to spoil it for future readers. However, regardless of whether you love or hate these characters each of them played their parts perfectly to make this the addictive storyline that it is!!

Congratulations Rose on another absolutely huge success!! This is the reason you are on my favourite author list and I cannot wait to get stuck into more of your addictive books! Here's to your next success 🥂!!

Overall an absolutely unputdownable, action packed, intriguing psychological thriller that will keep you up at night on the edge of your seat with a pounding heart!!

This book is not a unique concept in the slightest. But with that being said, I still love the drama, and the twist and turns that the author delivered in this book

This book was well written with different chapters featuring different characters. Its a story about domestic abuse. It has short chapters which keeps you wanting more. Some parts of the book were a let down, some twists were even predictable. Lots of points of view to keep you on your toes. I just found it to be a little flat to be honest.

This was a good thriller. The story and characters were enjoyable. The ending was predictable which was a bummer. Overall good book.

With time, I've come to expect a certain level of thrill from the books I read especially if they're presented as "a gripping thriller" or a psychological thriller. Unfortunately for me, this book didn't give me those thrills that I highly seek in a book. The story started off well but at a certain point and after numerous times when I thought "now comes the twist" the book instead got very predictable. The characters were good. I liked Kerry & Simon as characters & it would have been interesting to see nuances of the police work since the book was set in Belfast. however, this book was driven by Hannah & Julia. The plot sadly did not feel upto the mark of a psychological thriller.

Thank You Netgalley, Cameron Publicity & Marketing Ltd & Rose McClelland for an arc!

Under your skin is a great thriller/mystery that'll leave you frantically turning pages, needing to know whats happening next. Although, i did see the ending coming, still an overall great read. Thanks Rose McClelland and netgalley for the advanced copy!

A twisty thriller. Sure to keep you reading into the late hours of the night. Some trigger warnings but a great read for fans of thrillers.

This is my first book by this author, so I didn't know her style of writing.
It was kinda short but cleverly written story. The idea of the story it's not something new and it's okay, but the way it's written chapter to chapter it's wat make it interesting that makes you unable to put it down.

Hannah goes missing & husband is the number one suspect, of course. At first, you think he’s a decent guy but nothing is wat it's seems.
Tense and dark read but it's more than a thriller, it's rollercoaster of emotions because you looking to the domestic abuse from the microscope.

Thank you Netgalley, author/ publisher for providing me with this ARC for my honest review.

The first book I’ve read by this author, a short but enjoyable read that highlighted the terrible lives that domestic victims lead and the hardships and courage of leaving that life behind. The storyline itself was ok but rather far fetched in parts but the short chapters and the characters kept you want to keep reading

When Kyle’s wife Hannah goes missing, the whole town is out in force to try to find her. One person knows where she is. One person is keeping a secret.

This book had me hooked.
Great thriller trying to find out who the bad guy is in this book.
The author did a great job writing this novel.

This dark and gripping domestic drama held me captive to the end. It’s a disturbing, unsettling portrayal of a toxic marriage and domestic abuse which raises the question, how well does anyone know anyone? An engrossing read.

The book is engaging but the plot was pretty predictable. The book is spoken through 4 perspectives which at first was confusing but later makes more sense. Some details were very accurate regarding domestic violence but I feel the author could have added more detail. I do recommend the book overall it’s a nice easy read.

Under Your Skin.

A fantastic plot and well written characters... I was hooked! There’s some great scary scenes that really took my breath away!

Then it went off the rails...

I really wish it ended differently. I was left disappointed and can see I’m not the only one!

A great thriller. But a mystery/ thriller almost. The work will keep you guessing and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat till the end.

Thanks NetGalley for this book. Overall a good plot but I felt there was a little too much of the romance novel, albeit twisted, than I expected. Half way through I wanted to put this book down but persevered to the end. Would I recommend this. Not sure. However I am glad I finished the book as the writer did a good job of wrapping everything together for closure

Thanks to Net Galley and Cameron Publicity Marketing Ltd for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review.
Hannah is missing, her husband is the only suspect.
The story features 4 female characters, Hannah, Kerry, Kate and Julia, they all play significant but different roles,
Short sharp chapters which entice the reader to keep reading.
The story definitely gets under your skin as the tension builds, however I found it fell a bit flat and was disappointing as the story continued.
3.5 stars
