Wowzers, what an addictive read this was!

This is most definitely a book that portrays the whole saying 'not everyone is what they appear to be'.

I was instantly taking with the synopsis and it did not fail to deliver. Gripping, tense, suspense and unpredictable... what more could you possibly ask for?

A truly unique storyline that had you constantly turning the pages desperate for more. With so many twists it grabbed my attention and shook me around more times than I care to remember.

I thoroughly enjoyed the past and present timelines and it definitely helped bring Zoe's character more to life but it also gives you reason to doubt yourself even more (I won't go into detail as it will give spoilers).

The final outcome was expertly written with its added twists thrown in for good measure, it had me second guessing right up to its conclusion which is a rarity.

A brilliant psychological thriller that will have you sat in the same spot from beginning to end, be prepared for a one sitting read!

Huge thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

This was my first book by this author and I can't say enough great things about it!! So well written and the twists were perfect!
You're not going to want to put this one down! It starts with what seems to be a perfect couple but then you learn there is more than meets the eye. SOO GOOD!

OMG! A superbly written book by an author who never fails to grip us with her stories! Loved it! Finished it over two days and I would recommend picking up this book only when you have a good amount of time on your hand to really enjoy the book. Zoe and Toby seem to be a perfect couple with a great family and then closer to her 10th wedding anniversary she wonders if all that surrounds her is true and is her happiness based on lies? Great book!

This book is ADDICTIVE! I read it in one sitting. Book lovers, you know that’s rare! Story goes that Zoe fainted on her wedding day 10 years ago and has always felt that something about that day was not quite right. But her marriage to her husband Toby has been great and they are raising two beautiful kids and happily in love. As their ten year anniversary approaches, they are planning a party to celebrate, but those around Zoe are acting weird. Or is Zoe just paranoid from the stress? She keeps thinking she sees her missing sister, that an old friend has it out for her, and her sister in law is suddenly avoiding her. What’s going on? Only Ms Boland could write such a book that makes you wonder so much that you have to keep reading to get to the truth! Unique twists and turns and some serious second guessing on my part before the final reveal. This is a book not to be missed! Quick read and VERY enjoyable for those mystery/suspense lovers.

Gripping doesn’t even do this book justice! I have read many of Shalini Boland’s books and have enjoyed them all but this one has to be the best one ever!

I devoured this in one day, two sittings and ignored life around me as I was truly hooked and needed to see where this little thriller was taking me!

The major plot twist was huge, and the all of the little twists after it were brilliant! Boland’s talent knows no limits when it comes to her writing and creativity!

This is my first book I’ve read by author Shalini Boland and now I want to read more! I am not the quickest reader and I read this book in 1 week. And this was during Hurricane Sally that hit our area and I had no power for almost 5 days! But this suspenseful thriller kept me going and I could not put it down.

Zoe and Toby are getting ready to celebrate their 10 yr wedding anniversary. A loving marriage with 2 wonderful children. But on her wedding day, Zoe fainted and had no recollection as to what happened. Something never felt right about that day. What really happened on her wedding day? Will the truth come out 10 years later as Zoe prepares for her anniversary party at the same place she and Toby got married?

Between alternating timelines of Now and Then, the story unfolds. Zoe catches Toby in a lie. Her very close sister-in-law starts ignoring her. Zoe’s sister has been missing for 10 years but she thinks she spots her 2 times in their hometown. A best friend from high school is also back in town and stirring up trouble.

The Wife will keep you reading until you find out the truth on that wedding day! Thank you #NetGalley, #Bookouture, and #ShaliniBoland for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

On the happiest day of her life Zoe fainted-right before the wedding ceremony. Upon waking up she has a terrible headache and can't help but feel something is off. Reassured she just fainted, she proceeds with marrying Toby and 10 years later, immersed in his family, they are planning their 10 year wedding anniversary party. As the day approaches Zoe continues to feel something is not right and memories start cascading back. Her sister-in-law, once her best friend, has turned on her and rumors are flying around. As Zoe starts to put the missing pieces together she finds herself in grave danger.

The Wife is classic Shalini Boland-fast paced, thrilling with a huge twist! This is one of Shalini's best books yet in that the characters are well-developed, the writing is strong and the twists are unpredictable.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

I wasn't really excited by this book. The plot and storyline was a little unbelievable making me not as invested

Zoe fainted on her wedding day 10 years ago, badly hitting her head and didn't really enjoy the ceremony. But her marriage has been wonderful... until now. As she plans a big anniversary party, she notices her sister in law is treating her oddly. Plus she thinks she has seen her missing sister around town. Is she going crazy with stress or are there secrets in her family...?
Zoe elicits our sympathy and we are drawn to relate to her sense of unease and confusion about her missing memories. Readers are also led to be concerned about the state of her marriage and upset about her unhappy family life so there is a real emotional pull to the lead character.
I enjoyed the mystery of the past. The plot is delivered through different timelines to give us some perspective on the present day events. Looking back now I have finished the whole book, I think these developed Zoe's character but were a bit of a red herring.
The Wife keeps the momentum flowing throughout the whole book. Doubts and suspicions and their insidious way of preying on your mind were portrayed very realistically. There is an effective mix of psychological thriller and family drama which builds anticipation to the final reveal of the truth.
The ending was brilliantly tense and dramatic. I'm not sure the events were totally credible but they made for an entertaining finale and I could definitely understand the motives of the characters (no spoilers!)

*Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* I have read around 8 of Boland's books and tend to snap them up as soon as they're released. They are the perfect mix of mystery, intrigue and regular domestic life. 'The Wife' focusses on Zoe and starts with her wedding day, at which she faints before the ceremony, seemingly for no reason. Jump forward a decade and Zoe and her husband Toby are living an idyllic life in an English town. They are preparing to celebrate their 10 year anniversary at the local hotel with all of their friends and family. However, all is not as it seems. Toby seems to be keeping secrets from her. Her sister-in-law is blanking her and the school mothers have gone decidedly cold. Then, Zoe starts thinking she catches glimpses of her sister Dina, who has been missing for years. The action really ramps up in the last part of the book, but I am hesitant to write more for fear of ruining the ending.

Another great book from Shalini Boland. It is a steady read until about 80% through then WOW !! The pace quickened up to gripping ending. A family that seemed so close until the secrets start to spill out. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great read

The Wife is a gripping thriller.
The story unfolded slowly at first, with little whispers that hinted towards the fast paced and twist filled finale.
I thought Zoe was a strong, convincing protagonist and the story was full of believable characters.

Settling down with a Shalini Boland book is now to me a time guaranteed complete with the requisite chills/thrills I seek in a book. The Wife is a suspense novel that's centered around an amnesic woman - Zoe. Now while there are 100's of books with a similar theme, The wife stands out from the rest because Zoe doesn't really know about the crucial time she's lost - a time that could have turned her life around. The day Zoe plans to walk down the aisle with the love of her life, she faints. When she comes to, she feels something is amiss but puts it down to wedding jitters. Since then Zoe has built a picture-perfect life for herself with her doting husband & 2 children. As the 10-year anniversary approaches Zoe is determined to host a party & enjoy herself to the fullest- something she inexplicably didn't experience the first time around on her wedding day. As the anniversary edges around, certain revelations hit Zoe like a ton of bricks. She realizes someone's spreading nasty rumors about her, she accidentally spies on her husband locked in an embrace with her sister-in-law & her old best-friend returns to town determined to pull her spirits down. Zoe is increasingly sure that she doesn’t have the full story. But does she want to know the truth, if it will destroy everything?
The characters here are simply amazing. I loved Zoe & her family & was happy to see the story through till the end. The epilogue did give me some chills done in a true Shalini Boland style. The plot was also good. I loved the way the story was spun & the ending was a surprise to me. The theme of having an amnesiac run the show is something that's becoming a bit common. However, this story was surprisingly different & overall I enjoyed this book. Looking forward to the next book by Boland.

Thank You, NetGalley, Boookouture & Shalini Boland for an arc!

Suspenseful with an unexpected ending. Totally enjoyed the story of Zoe with a loss of memory of her wedding day until 10 years later on her anniversary. First time reading Shalini but she will now be a regular for me. Highly recommend. Thanks to Bookouture & NetGalley for this copy.

When I read the blurb I was really intrigued as it’s actually the type of book I’d go for. But it wasn’t what I expected if I’m honest as I thought it would be more of an on the edge of your seat kinda read but I just didn’t get that from it. For me I needed more twists and turns as it was a bit flat. Having said that the outcome wasn’t what I expected and it was interesting if a little unbelievable. I liked the different characters and found you got to know them. It wouldn’t be one of my favourite reads but I do like the authors style of writing so would like to read more of her books. I’ve read some great reviews which also added to my want to read it so could be just me.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC and review that was published on the 9th of Sept.

Shalini Boland does it again. One of my go to authors who never disappoints and this latest book is no exception.

Zoe and Toby have their 10 year wedding anniversary coming up and the party is nearly upon them. Zoe just hopes everything goes to plan. Thoughts of their wedding day have always been plagued by the fact that she fainted and hit her head just before the ceremony and didn’t feel right for the whole day.

With just days to go before the party everything starts to go wrong for Zoe. Her sister in law suddenly seems to be avoiding her along with some of the Mum’s at her children’s school. Then she is driving through town and suddenly spots someone who looks just like her sister, only problem being that her sister has been missing for years. Why is everything happening now ? Is something going on or is Zoe just imaging everything ?

The story is told in the present day and the past. We get to see the history of Zoe and Toby’s relationship as well as where they are now. As always with this authors books, as soon as you start the first chapter you are completely drawn in and will find yourself whizzing through all the twisty pages. A fantastic psychological thriller with plenty of twists.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.
