As someone who enjoys a slow burn romance, this book was pretty enjoyable for me. It was also frustrating at times, to realize that the two had come so close only to not meet. The plot was definitely unique and interesting, however I found the characters to be rather one-dimensional. I couldn't connect to any of them, and I also didn't find any chemistry between Simon and Adri.

A cute, fun, easy read that made me smile. The characters were endearing, and the storyline was unique.
An enjoyable read.

3.75 stars.
This was so adorable and cute, i kind of squealed. I felt the embrassment of Adri and i felt how Simon wanted to find her, that he knew that he wasn`t insane. I really liked that their friends supported them. Micha can eat a raw potato. Bah.

I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you so much for the opportunity.
An interesting take on the classic romance but at times, it felt unrealistic and far fetched. The writing was good but the story was hard to get into. A good read.

Adri and Simon believe they are figments of each others imagination as they only exist in their dreams. Through their whole lives there has been a part of them that belongs to each other. They are each others perfect match in so many ways except that they don’t dont think the other exists in reality. Through a crazy and embarrassing viral video, Simon is shocked to see that Adri is indeed real and sets off in a desperate search to find her.

I loved the concept of this story and how it is laid out. You are shown sequences of dreams throughout Simons search for Adri that shows their innermost thoughts and feelings. You are taken on this journey between what is real and what isn’t and you feel the desperation and somewhat craziness that Simon feels as his world is turned on its head.

I am a big fan of magical realism in books and the blurred lines that it created between realities.

To Dream In Daylight is a realistic, fantasy, romance novel. I know sounds weird right. Not so. This novel focuses around 20-somethings Adri & Simon. Since a young age they dreamed of each other but was always convinced that the other was not real. Then one day Simon sees a viral video of Adri having a drunken accident at a party. With little money and thousands of miles to travel Simon flies from Portland, OR to Chicago in search of the love of his life.

This was a sweet love story designed for teens and young adults. Not only is it a romance but also a coming of age story as these young writers find their paths. I liked to book and it felt to me like it should be a manga or anime series for some reason, maybe it is the little bit of dream fantasy in the story.

What would you do if you met your soulmate - but only in your dreams.

When Simon sees the girl from his dream in a humiliating video, he knows he must find her. So with the help of his friend, and his sister Simon flies all the way from Portland to Chicago to find his Adri.
But it seems like the closer he gets, the closer Adri is to leave it all behind.

To dream in daylight, alternates between the dreams Adri and Simon had in the past, and the present as Simon tries to find Adri, and she tries to find herself.
In their dreams, we get to see the connection they have as friends, and how they fell in love with each other. Whereas in the present they are both straggling, and wish for the other to be real more than anything.
I loved watching Adri and Simon as they fell in love, and as they struggled with living their real life, and not just their dreams.
Simon was absolutely sweet and swoon-worthy as he tries to find his dream girl after years of doubting whether she was real or not.
I appreciated the fact that although Adri wished Simon was real, she didn't believe he was. Because although we want to believe in the impossible, a lot of time we can't.

Overall this book was an incredible Young Adult Romance, and I loved how original it was.

When I read the description I loved the Idea of the story, this was what I wished for when I was younger but never had. I really enjoyed the book, and would recommend as an wholesome, nice read.

What I didn't like:
At the beginning I felt extremely bothered by the shortness of the chapters, and how often it switches sides. While reading I got used to it, and it started making more sense with how the story is told. What didn't fully stopped bothering me was how the chapters where named. The dreams where numbered which was fine. However, the rest was the name of the places the characters where, which is nice for having a knowledge where everyone is, however especially in the beginning it made it harder for me to know who is the narrator. I think it might help adding the name, next to the place or something, but this is nitpicking.

What I liked:
I loved to story. I liked how it started slow paced and with the progression it started speeding up which was very fitting with what was happening. I liked how you could relate to the characters without the story being directly relatable. I love how the ending makes you still slightly question if it is a happy ending. However, only if you think about it for longer then a second.

All in all even though the book annoyed me in the beginning, I ended up really enjoying it. Also a huge thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and author for letting me read this book.

My rating system:
5 Stars: If I couldn't put a book down and highly enjoyed it. In addition, if it made me think and reflect it's a huge plus.
4 Stars: I very much liked it it gave me feels, and I would definitely reread. However enjoyed it a
little less then a 5 Star book.
3 Stars: It was a nice read I liked it but it's nothing too special.
2 Stars: It was alright but maybe not my cup of tea.
1 Star: I must have hated it.

This was a delight to read. The author did a great job of capturing the unique voice of each character and the story remained interesting, surprising and the world created was believable. It is along the lines of Sundays at Tiffany's but I actually found this story to be more enjoyable than the other book. I wish at the end there was more explanation for what happens.

I found the synopsis of the book interesting, and that is why I requested the book, entering the book I would say that it is a bit slow and not very involving in the story, but that does not mean that it is a beautiful love story that happens between fantasy and Actually, it is a book that is not so difficult to read, I recommend it for teenagers or people who want something light to read.

U received an ARC of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I liked the idea of this book but unfortunately struggled to get into it and found it very slow.

The premise of this book had me so interested and excited, which is exactly why I requested a copy.
For me, though, the execution fell a little flat which was disappointing.
I found it incredibly hard to get into this book, connect with the characters or get excited about the story.
There were moments that were good, mostly towards the 40-60% mark, but unfortunately, I then found the ending to be a little rushed.
In general I felt like the pacing was off. At times feeling slow and then racing over other important things that I would have liked to have explored in more depth.
Honestly, this book has so much promise and with a little more development of the characters and the story. I think it could be amazing.

At first I did not think I was going to enjoy this book as I am not interesting in gaming, but don’t be deterred by that, it is not the main theme of this book. This is a clean young adult novel I would not mind my younger teenagers reading. It is a cute love story of a couple who have known each other since childhood. Well in their dreams. The story starts when the search reaches outside of the dream world and into the real world. I would recommend this book to YA readers and those who want a good clean romance to whisk them away for a couple of days.

To Dream In Daylight by Candace J. Thomas is a new adult novel. From childhood, Adri and Simon have always been there for each other, through every loss, triumph, joy and heartbreak. They’re perfect for each other, but there’s an unfortunate catch — they’ve only ever met in their dreams. Each of them thinks the other one is just a figment of their imagination, but what if they weren’t? All it takes is one video clip to change their lives forever. When timid Adri finds herself going viral overnight thanks to an embarrassing video, all she wants to do is disappear forever. But on the other side of the country in Portland, Simon sees the video and realizes for the first time that his soulmate — the girl of his actual dreams — is real. Simon’s desperate search for Adri leads him through the streets of Chicago, hoping against all odds that they will finally find each other in the waking world instead of losing one another forever to the haze of their dreams.

To Dream In Daylight is as much about both Adri and Simon figuring out what is important to them as it is their finding each other. I got lost in Simon's search for Adri, and felt for Adri as she struggled with figuring out just what she wants to do. I liked Adri, and her quirky nature even if she seemed to let others override her good sense a little too often. I enjoyed getting know them both, and I really enjoyed the cast of secondary characters. I thought Simon's sister and Adri's found family were such interesting people- and some that I might have like to know myself. Simon's physical journey, just missing Adri at so many points, was almost as stressful for me as it was for him. As Adri faced her demons, and Simon searched and had panic attacks, I found myself wanting to read faster to see how it all worked out and trying to look away because something else was going to keep them apart or cause some kind if pain in mere moments. This was a very compelling read, and it had me hooked from beginning to end. My only complaint is that I was left wanting more. Once they find each other, what's next? So many decisions and choices- and I want to know where they go from here. I am greedy like that.

To Dream In Daylight is a sweet contemporary romance and coming of age story.

Hello Fellow Readers,

I have mixed emotions about his book, while it was slow to start , it eventually picks up. I love the dream flashbacks, it really helps you see how Simon and Adri get closer and why it is so important that they find each other. Despite the whole meeting someone in dreams, it's very realistic story and I liked the inclusion of modern technology and social media.

The characters were okay, but I had a hard time keeping tack of everyone's names, and I kept confusing some characters with others. Adri was good, but I wish she had a slightly more fiery attitude. I did like Simon a lot, once he had his 'find Adri goal', it wasn't until this that we really start to get to know him.

The one put off I had with the story that it just seemed like one huge buildup. I was going higher and higher on the rollercoaster of anticipation, but when it got to the drop I found out I was on a kiddie ride. The climax almost felt nonexistent. I guess I just personally wanted a little bit more at the end.

Overall, a good story that I wish had a better payoff.

To Dream in Daylight focuses on Adri and Simon, who have been meeting in their dreams since childhood. Now in their mid-twenties they've been able to support each other throughout the good times and bad - just never when they were awake. When a viral video of Adri surfaces, Simon realizes the girl of his dreams is real and sets out to find her.

This was a sweet read about finding that "dream" person that loves you just the way you are with a twist. Though the genre is listed as new adult it did lean more young adult to me.

Pros: the main concept of sharing a memory space and never really knowing if that person actually exists was very compelling to me; the cover is beautiful; the chapters switch between not only present alternating POV perspectives but also to former dreams creating a nice dynamic that was almost theater like; I did enjoy the geeky references like D&D (though it could have embraced the "geeky" interest a little more); it continued to pick up the momentum to the end; the secondary characters were interesting; and overall the romance was "clean."

Cons: I wish there would have been more chapters from the earlier dream periods to help flesh out their relationship and the way they characters communicate with each other while in the dreams felt a little off/unrealistic at first but as they got older it did get much better.

This book is about two soulmates finding each other in their dreams then searching for each other in real life. It was a mellow cute read. Adri and Simon were cute but I wish there was more of the two of them together. I enjoyed the bookish references as both main characters were readers and writers. I loved that the book was primarily sit in Portland and Chicago, two cities I adore.

I do believe this book was more of a YA book. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are spelling and grammatical errors. Given this is an ARC, I have reviewed under the assumption these will be fixed.

This book is about two people, Adri and Simon, who have only ever met in their dreams, until one fateful day when a video prompts Simon to realize Adri is real.
What first drew me into this book was the cover and the synopsis. It's such a unique concept and I love how it grappled with the idea of fate. I did definitely like seeing how the characters were really just living mundane lives, trying their best to make it through their weeks. However, I felt that in an effort to flesh out these mundane details, the author got a bit unnecessarily descriptive at times, which disrupted the flow of the book. Another thing I didn't like too much was how similar Adri and Simon were. It took me a couple of pages in the first chapter to realize that the chapter was about Simon, not Adri, and throughout the book, their thinking processes seemed really similar (and kind of just young?). I guess this makes sense because you are those you meet, but I would've liked a bit more differentiation. Finally, there were several spelling/grammar errors and some sentences were awkwardly phrased in my opinion which I found rather distracting at times.
All in all, this book was a cute, light read and though it didn't necessarily "click" with me, with a couple of minute revisions here and there, I could see this book being enjoyed.by younger audiences.
Thank you so much to Shadesilk Press and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The cute cover and the blurb attracted me to the book. Imagine two people, dreaming of each other since childhood and wondering if the other is real or imaginary. It’s not until a humiliating video of the girl reaches the guy, thanks to social media, that he realizes she is indeed real.
His conflicting emotions and desire to meet her leads him to Chicago from Portland. Meanwhile, the girl, sick of all the unwanted attention, chooses to get off social media and go invisible. How will the dream mates meet? Will they find each other? Can they have a happy ever after?
That’s the premise of the book (in my words). Doesn’t it sound like a cute, angsty, sweet love story with the promise of HEA?
But does the book deliver? Yes and no.
Here is what I like about the book.
• The story has a HEA.
• The secondary characters are interesting.
• The relationship between Simon and his sister was warm and sweet.
• The concept of dreams was handled very well.
• The reactions are realistic to a good extent.
• Geeky references will make it a better book for some readers.
• There is enough mismatch of time to keep the readers hooked towards the end.
What I wished was better or was disappointed in the book-
• The narration alternates between Simon and Adri with the dream sequences in the third person. That’s very good. But, if not for the names and setting, I wouldn’t have been able to differentiate between Simon’s narration and Adri’s. They sound so similar, it’s hard to distinguish (until 80% of the book). That’s where Simon’s ready belief in Adri’s existence is contrasted by her disbelief. Even then, they react similarly, in just about every situation. The voices have got to be different and unique.
• The genre says NA, but the leads act like young adults. I couldn’t imagine either of them being over 18. But they were supposed to be in their 20’s, and I still can’t picture them in that age group. The writing style is typical YA.
• Adri is a lot more confused and stuck up on her ex. While it’s understandable she wants to live in the real world, she seems more disoriented about her life than Simon. Her character growth could have been better.
• Both characters are socially awkward, geeky, writers (with other jobs) and seem to let others make decisions for them. Similarities again, and having two awkward leads tends to cut down the appeal for me. (Another example of why it is more suited to be a YA romance).
• Finally, when the two of them do meet, the book is over. Bam! There is an epilogue of sorts, but that’s it. To read 90+% of the book only to know that it ends soon after they meet was disappointing. At least the ones who helped them should have been thanked or referred to. Considering our leads, without the supporting characters, their meeting wouldn’t happen.
Overall, it’s a clean romance (with mild kissing) and a decent YA (not NA) book.
I hope the team is going to proofread it another time before the final publishing. There are a few typos that need to be edited.
Thank you NetGalley and Shadesilk Press for the ARC copy.
