A disappointing read that fails to engage.

I read the first quarter of the book before giving up. Following the dull start, the part that I read, failed to improve or engage the reader.

It's been a long time since I enjoyed a book this much. The character Dan Mallett has enough quirks and habits to keep a reader entertained throughout the story. A banker turned poacher turned local rescuer, he's a very unpredictable character. When two elderly sisters find themselves on the wrong side of a gangster's attentions, Dan will use his knowledge of the local area and the skills he learned during his illegal activities to save the sisters and himself. This book is loaded with humor and common sense. It was a very entertaining read and now I'm going to look for the other titles in the series.......

Dan Mallett Returns....
Book two in the Dan Mallett investigations series. Enjoyable cosy mystery with a fun and fresh protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters. A busy plot, plenty going on, lots of humour and an invigorating setting. Very enjoyable indeed.
