A fantastic rip roaring gangster read. Lucy Murphy is a detective, haunted by the murder of her mother. Throw in police procedural, drugs, murder, domestic violence and some interesting characters making this another great read by Casey Kelleher. An author at the top of her game and one I highly recommend. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

Yet another brilliant read from Casey Kelleher.
I loved this story as it has everything - crime, violence, humour and a sprinkling of love.
Lucy and Morgan are called when a body is found in the river and an anonymous call tells them that he was linked to Gerrard who has been on their radar for some time.
They have no evidence that Gerrard killed the man so can’t do anything about it.
We learn that Gerrard is becoming a loose cannon, drinking too much and taking too much coke and one day he goes too far in beating up his wife, and she ends up in hospital.
Debra desperately wants to get away from Gerrard but is scared he will find her and the children and make them suffer.
Lucy tries to persuade her to get out but it falls on deaf ears.
However there is a plan in place to get information on Gerrard but it doesn’t go as smoothly as they wanted, and soon lives are in danger.
This is a gritty crime thriller that well and truly had me hooked.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘No Fear’ by Casey Kelleher in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

When DC Lucy Murphy sees Debra in hospital after being severely beaten by her husband, drug-dealing thug Gerard Jennings, Lucy realises that without their help Gerard is going to kill his wife in front of their two young sons. Debra says she’ll do whatever is necessary to bring her husband down but only if Lucy goes undercover to get the information needed to put him away for a long time. Could Lucy be risking her own life?

‘No Fear’ is an action-packed police thriller set in South London that’s crammed full of excitement and suspense. It’s fast-paced, blood-thirsty and gruesome with a well-written and strong plot, leading to a tense and dramatic conclusion. I was gripped from page one and unable to stop reading until I’d finishing it in just under a day. I like the character of Lucy and that of her boss DS Morgan who’s still haunted by his inability to catch who was responsible for the murder of Lucy’s mother. This is the second DC Lucy Murphy thriller I’ve read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope there’ll be more in the series.

No Fear is the second instalment in the DC Lucy Murphy series, set on the notorious Griffin Estate in London, where murder and drug dealing are the norm. No Fear is even better than the first book, in my opinion. It isn't necessary to have read the series opener before jumping into this one as the plots are self-contained and there is plenty of backstory given to get new readers up to speed. Feared and notorious drug dealer Gerard Jennings and his wife, Debra, don't have a healthy marriage as Debra is physically attacked by her husband regularly and wants out; they have two sons together. He is a heavy whisky drinker and snorts cocaine which makes him totally unpredictable. Lucy is sent undercover to try and collect enough evidence and intelligence of his criminal actions to put him and his loyal cronies away for a long, lengthy time. However, Lucy has a lot on her plate. She is battling to silence the demons in her head and still coming to terms with the fact that her mother was brutally murdered on the Griffin Estate and she also has to keep an eye on her Nan, Winnie, who has dementia. Lucy really wants to be able to help Debra, so can the two women become allies and forge an alliance to bring Gerard down?

This is a captivating and addictive read from the start with plenty of exciting developments and a real feeling of being caught up in an underground criminal fraternity. It's gritty gangland crime at its best and with a couple of equally interesting plot threads and it touches on domestic violence in a harrowing, believable and respectful manner. It's a story full of intense drama, excitement and imminent danger seemingly lurking around every corner. It's a tough street scene for anyone to brave never mind a female and with an endless array of tested loyalties, betrayals, murder, double-crosses, alliances and shifting allegiances and there is violence and tension as the plot races along barely giving you a moment to breathe; for the majority of the time my heart was simply pounding and I noticed myself turning the pages more and more rapidly and anxiously. I found it impossible not to admire the kick-ass feisty female at the centre of it all and despite her flaws, she's a superb Detective who wears her heart on her sleeve and is very relatable. A cracking, fast-paced crime thriller with a palpably tense atmosphere, an action-packed plot and the setting of the Estate which draws you in instantly. I look forward to book three. Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC.

Another absolutely brilliant book! I'm really enjoying this series, I think Lucy is such a brave strong lady and I just adore Winnie! I love the relationship between the two women and I so hope they can finally put the past to rest and get justice. A very easy five star read!

If you like a real gritty thriller then Casey Kelleher will always deliver. Her skill of making you feel the terror, the pain, the feelings of her characters is a true gift.
D.C. Lucy Murphy finds herself going undercover in amongst some of the nastiest criminals in an undesirable part of London to try and gather enough intelligence on Gerard Jennings and his men to guarantee they will be put away for a very long time. befriends Debra - Gerards wife - but her cover is blown relatively quickly.
Jennings has become a loose cannon and between drinking whiskey and snorting cocaine nobody knows what to expect next from him.
A book not to be missed I loved it.

No Fear is the 2nd book in the DC Lucy Murphy series but in my opinion it can be read as a standalone story.Once again it centres around the Griffin Estate and is home to Gerard Jennings a feared drug dealer and his wife Debra who he treats as a punch bag,Lucy is asked to go undercover to try and get evidence to put Jennings away for a long time but Lucy is also battling her own demons from her past having seen her mum murdered years ago.on the Griffin Estate, and she is looking after her nan Winnie which isn't easy for her.Once again i think Casey Kelleher has proved she is up there with the best when it comes to writing gritty domestic crime thrillers, with the short punchy chapters this is a series which everyone will enjoy as DC Lucy Murphy evolves.A superb well written addition to the first book this is a 5 star gem, carry on the good work Casey.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. I absolutely adore Lucy and I love how each story delves a little into her past. Her relationship with her grandmother really melts me and I want nothing but the best for her. My favorite genre of reading and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Casey has done it again another great read. We meet up with Lucy and her Nan Winnie again in this book. Lucy is now a Detective and she’s about to go uncover in the hope of bringing Gerard Jennings a notorious criminal on the Griffin Estate down. The way Casey writes you feel that you are right there with Lucy going through everything she goes through with her. You need to make some time before you pick up this book as I can guarantee that you won’t want to put it down until you have read it. A well deserved 5 star read.

I am so glad that I have never had to live anywhere like the Griffin Estate. As if the trials that Lucy Murphy faced last time out weren't tense enough, it appears that the drug wars are far from over and that top dealer, Gerard Jennings, is determined to send a message to anyone who thinks that it's a good idea to cross him - his own family included. When his anger sees his wife, Debra, end up in hospital, it is one outburst too many for her and, with Lucy's help, she sets about getting the evidence to stop her husband once and for all. But at what cost to those they love?

And that's what I love about a Casey Kelleher novel. Not only do you get a really really gritty storyline, in this case a mixture of gang wars and domestic violence, but you find yourself faced with characters you really care about and want to root for. Lucy Murphy is one such character, her difficult past outlined in the first book, but explored further within this book. The more time she spends on the Griffin estate, the more she remembers from the fateful night in her childhood, and the more I found myself drawn to her as a character. She is a relatively new Detective, but full of determination and spirit, no matter how scared she might be inside, and the way in which the author explores the conflict between her night terrors and her need to do the job she loves is really well played.

Debra was another great character and one who was all too easily recognisable. Her hesitance in leaving her husband, knowing that the cost to her and her beloved sons, is all too real, and all too common in domestic violence victims and it is portrayed ina. sympathetic way whilst still acting as a tool to drive the story onward. Seeing the impact of their father's temper on the two boys, even though not directed at them, was heartbreaking and the author really plays on readers emotions as those scenes progress.

It is a really action filled story, and watching Jennings slowly devolve and lose his grip on his anger, fuelled by a growing addiction, really keeps the tension high and the had me gripped to the story. How far would he go? Well, when it comes to proving who is in control, it appears there are no limits, and the faint whiff of corruption in the police adds another layer or uncertainty and jeopardy to an already tense situation. This leads us to a really tense and dramatic showdown with a conclusion that might shock but also put a smile on your face. I'm certainly loving the development of Lucy and the rest of the team and can't wait to see where the author takes us next.

DC Lucy Murphy may be young in her career, but she is not without experience and wisdom. When she meets the broken and abused wife of a drug dealer, Lucy wants to help, but does not see the danger ahead.

When Debra Jennings said I do to husband Gerard, she had no idea what was ahead for her. Not only does she realize a little too late that he is a drug dealer, he is a domestic batterer and she spends far too many times receiving emergency treatment for injuries sustained by him. When the police, specifically Lucy Murphy, tries to step in, Debra fears for her life. If Debra is going to deal with Gerard, it will be on her own terms.

Not only is Gerard out of control at home, placing his wife and his sons in danger, things on the "business" end of things are not going well, leaving him something to prove. Little does Gerard know that the police have set a plan in motion - one that will protect his family - and hopefully get the dangerous criminal that he is off of the street.

For Lucy, not only is she concerned about Debra, but she is striving to care for her grandmother Winnie, who plays a role in this book during her battle with dementia. Hopefully, Lucy won't find herself too distracted with her grandmother to be helpful to Debra, especially as she takes on a very specific role in order to help her.

No Fear is the second book in the DC Lucy Murphy series and it is no easy read. Gerard is one of the most unlikeable protagonists I have read in a long while. Conversely, Lucy and Debra are strong women who prove to be up to the fight to bring about some important changes. Whether this book lends itself to domestic drama, crime or danger, as well as a combination of all three, it proved to be a nail-biting thriller that captured my attention from beginning to end.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This is the next installment in the DC Lucy Murphy saga and it is every bit as amazing as the first. Casey writes amazingly strong boss women but still has that perfect balance in strength & emotion. She also writes a really good bad guy leaving no doubt in your mind that they deserve everything that might be coming for them.

Having to deal with her own demons DC Murphy finds herself standing face to face with the devil, making promises she may not be able to keep all while having to cope with the ever changing decline in Nanny Winnie's dementia.

Who will win out of good & evil & has she taken on more than she bargained for going under cover?!

This is the 12th novel by Casey Kelleher, everyone of them unique and as amazing as the last. I cannot wait to see what she has up her sleeve next!!!

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

Having loved the first book in the series I looked forward to reading this. I felt this book had a very, very slow start. The main character featured very little in the first half of the book which was more about setting the scenes and getting to know the characters. It did pick up just after half way through. Lucy as a character is slowly growing on me, I liked reading of her working relationship with her boss, her background history which has shaped who she is and her love for her Nan. I enjoyed reading this, the second half of the book was a more riveting read that raced to an ending I had already guessed. It didn’t really wow me though and I enjoyed the first book much more. I’d definitely want to read the next book to see how the main character develops. 3.5 stars

Gangland crime stories... The main characters are always ruthless with people that don't follow the rules made by them.

In some series the boss is kind to his family, in others, like this one, the boss does not seem to love anyone. Not even himself.

It sounds weird that I have to say that I enjoyed the book a lot. It does not mean that I enjoy violence. Not at all! But the author makes you live every emotion in tenfold. It's like you feel every blow, you cry every tear, you applaud every step the police closes in on the culprits and that's what makes you so involved.

I asked for a sequel last time and I hope my prayers will be heard again, because this can't be the end, can it? I certainly want more. A lot more.

As soon as I finish a book, I take a look on Goodreads. I am always curious to know what other people think about a story. At this moment 20 people gave a rating and 14 of them were worth 5 stars. I do agree wholeheartedly with them and will also give this author a handful of stars.

Thank you, Casey Kelleher and Bookouture

Another corker of a book from Ms Kelleher. The second in the DC Lucy Murphy series and just as fabulous as the first. With brilliant characters and a gritty setting, this book ticks all the boxes for a gangland thriller. Cannot wait for the next instalment.

What an intense, gritty, and action packed read. The story takes off on a wild ride from the first chapter, and holds you hostage until the last page.
The characters are an interesting bunch, the plot flowed seemingly and the drama was intense. Definitely different from the crime fiction I usually read. Being the first book I have read from the author, I can honestly say I am a fan now!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the book.

This is the second in the D.C. Lucy Murphy series, and was definitely worth the wait!
During an investigation Lucy meets Debra, wife of the formidable Gerard. Lucy recognises Gerard for the bully he is, and sees how down trodden and scared Debra is. She is determined to find a way to help her escape. Problem is, in doing this, she’s putting her own life in jeopardy.

I really really enjoyed this, and hope for more to come in the series. Casey has done a fab job with the characters and the story is well written, as always!
