So I'm a huge LA Casey fan but this book was a little bit of a let down, especially considering the hype since early on in the year. It wasn't necessarily a bad book it was just wasn't very good either, it was on the negative end of okay. I was intrigued by the storyline at first from the blurb, but honestly the story itself just felt a little flat with over the top drama and overrunning dialogue. Considering this was supposed to be a suspenseful romance the suspense itself was actually missing (I saw the plot twist coming from a mile away) and I felt that there was very little chemistry between our main MCs. I didn't really like or connect with either of them, Noah came across as selfish a lot of the time and I was constantly thinking "what the hell are you doing" with a lot of her decisions. Finding out the reason they actually broke up was also very anticlimactic, I was just like seriously.... thats it? I really really wanted to like this book, especially because I'm a lover of amnesia romances, but unfortunately I have to chalk it up to another 2020 disappointment. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. |
I really loved this book. So much happens over a relatively short period of time, and honestly, I didn’t see much of it coming. When Noah woke up from her coma, I was shocked along with her family and Elliot that she had forgotten five (!!!!) years of her life. It was so wild that she forgot the little fact that she was married to someone that wasn't Elliot. It became apparent to me throughout the book that Elliot and Noah were absolutely soulmates and that something in their relationship had gone terribly wrong. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out with Noah what happened in their relationship and their time apart to lead to her marrying Anderson. I knew that there was something off about him, but I didn't expect him to be actually psycho crazy and to be abusing Noah. I felt incredibly sorry for everything that she faced through that relationship and happy to see her free from that toxicity and abuse in the end of the book. |

I really wanted to like this book based on the blurb, but as I got into it, it was all over the place but at the same time moved slowly. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing and DNF read for me, but that's just my opinion. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley. |
This was my first book by this author and it didn't leave a lasting impression. The dialogue was a bit repetitive and the Irish accent seemed forced at times. I love amnesia stories but this one missed the mark. It was pretty predictable and the ending was overkill. I didn't feel the connection between Noah and Elliot so I wasn't fully invested in their story. |
I have read other novels by L.A. Casey, in comparison to those others this book is below average and extremely predicable. I read the synopsis, took a guess on how the book would play out...100% correct in my guessing. If you have read other books like this before; save your time this one is the same and more boring than those. Nothing groundbreaking. Thanks NetGalley for giving me an ARC of Forgetting You by L.A. Casey in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. |
Where to begin... 1. The romance The sex scene in chapter two was way too early into the story. Nothing profound has happened in the actual story yet to warrant a sex scene even as a flashback. I get its purpose, to show me their oh so deep love for each other even at 17 but nah, this was like getting thrown into the deep end. The romance was built without any finesse. Too “in-your-face”. 2. The plot You’d think the book would either focus on the accident that caused the amnesia or on the characters properly reconnecting but IMO there was no real focus on either. It was all very boring. 3. The Cheating I thought I wouldn’t mind cheating when it’s with the one you end up with. Well, I was wrong. Turns out I mind it. A lot, like a whole lot. I hated that she didn't think of her husband and used the "I don't know him" to basically explain and whine about everything. She still consciously cheated on her husband even though she knew of his existence. She just didn’t really care thus giving me the impression of someone incredibly inconsiderate, amnesia or not, bad husband or not. 4. The main characters Noah and Elliot I didn’t like either of these characters. Elliot didn’t even feel bad for trying to get Noah back even though she was married. He was determined to hold onto her, not giving a fuck about the husband which I find disrespectful. I hated that Noah was so dependent on him and trusted him so much when he obviously did something wrong, she just didn't care, she said she needed to get behind the story but she didn't. There was no urgency in her actions. 5. The reason for the fallout The reason was incredibly stupid. It was especially hard for me to understand because she was so dependent on him after she woke up at the hospital that all she needed was her rock and the knowledge that she loved him. I don’t understand why he wasn’t enough for her back then and needed the commitment. It just didn’t make sense to me. All in all, not a book I'd recommend. |
Love conquers all Amnesia due to a tragic accident causes her to forget the last 5 years, her ex is her ex, and that she's married to someone else. I'd say that Noah is definitely having a rough patch. What she does remember is an all encompassing live from 5 years ago that hasn't diminished in her mind. How can you go from married to a one man to professing love for a memory...? Is it because he's her only memory? No. No it's not. L.A. Casey has a very good reason for Noah not being able to get over the one who got away. Forgetting You is about falling in love again with the one who got away. I am trying so hard not to give spoilers so I will need to cut this short but, Irish, you are dreamy. I think Noah is a lucky lady. |
BOOK REVIEW: Forgetting You by L A Casey 2 stars I thought this book was a debut but knowing it was from a well established author, I am even more let down. I went into this book after reading Burying Water by K A Tucker which is also about a woman that wakes up with severe amnesia (worse that Noah, the protagonist in this book). I therefore had a very close comparison in my mind with another book. Unfortunately this book was a disappointment. The writing is okay but the dialogue was so long and tiresome and repetitive. It seemed to me that the author didn't know how to show the feelings of the characters within the writing and had to do it during the dialogue which went on forever, especially in the case of the love interest Elliott. The dialogue was often rather cringeworthy and didn't flow very well. The storyline could have been really good if executed well. Unfortunately the big "shock" moment was obvious right from the start and so there wasn't anything that surprised me. The story was dual POV with flashbacks which is fine but it made the story crawl and made me frustrated. I am a character lead reader and so I found this book hard to connect to when the chemistry between the two main characters wasn't there. I struggled to connect with lead female Noah as in my opinion her character focused on so many things that didn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I don't want to say much more and give the story away but for me so much detail, suspense and chemistry was missing. And for a romance like this, those 3 aspects are really needed. Sadly I won't be recommending this book to others. Please note that I was #gifted this book in exchange for an honest review |
3.5 stars! Here are my honest thoughts Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of this author. Her Slater Brothers series is one of my favorites to re-read, which is why I’m sad to say that this book was not a hit for me. Don’t get me wrong, the book is well-written. The blurb and premise were intriguing and I liked the suspense around it. My problem is that the storyline was predictable. I figured out what happened about a quarter into the story- that’s one of my pet peeves. I want authors to keep me guessing and this was too easy to figure out. It was very lovey-dovey to me and although it had angst, it needed more struggle. Some parts didn’t flow well for me. The characters' actions seemed forced. I loved Elliott, and although I liked Noah, I had a hard time connecting with her in some parts because her reasons didn’t make sense to me. But, I still love this author and will definitely read her next book. |
I was looking forward to reading this book as I hadn’t read LA Casey for quite a while. The synopsis was intriguing and caught my interest so I was pleased when NetGalley sent me an Arc to read and review. The story is written in dual POV with flashbacks to main events in Noah and Elliot’s lives. It is a second chance romance but does cover some sensitive issues. We have a good dramatic and horrifying start with the disturbing voicemail, car crash and the heroic rescue of Noah by Elliot. Elliott is from Dublin. He moved to London when he was seventeen and met moved next door to Noah. He is a firefighter and comes across as a sweet guy , a real gentleman. We really see his sadness, anger and guilt over the situation he finds himself in after the accident. Noah finally wakes from being in a coma for fifteen days with amnesia and thinks she back in 2015. The main problem with this is that was a period in her life when she was madly in love with Elliot so desperately clings to those memories and him. She has not only lost five years of memories but she also has no recollection that she is married to Anderson. She is confused and heartbroken at this revelation. While recovering from her injuries she struggles to understand and remember but with the strange comments passed by her parents and Elliot so slowly realises they are not telling her everything. They dated for seven years after he eventually asked her out on his eighteenth birthday. Loved their various nicknames for each other as it brought a bit of fun into the story and their true personalities. I felt we didn’t get enough insight into their relationship and it left me wanting to know more, especially the details of after they split up. The story revolves around the decisions made by the young couple and how the results of those decisions changed their lives. They were meant to be so in love and soul mates, even said their love was not like everyone else’s love because they got something special but I felt neither of them fought enough for their relationship. I couldn’t understand why Elliot didn’t make more of an effort or why Noah even considered dating again, if they were so heartbroken over the break up. While she slowly mends physically and mentally, she has to deal with her strong feelings for Elliot against trying to remember her relationship with her husband. As you can imagine neither guy likes the other so she does’t get much help from them. This all comes to an explosive conclusion when more revelations and memories are revealed. I was disappointed with the book as I felt it didn’t fulfil its potential and develop the characters fully. I couldn’t get my head round the female lead having such a male name. I felt there was too much Bailey in the epilogue which spoilt the ending for me. The plot twists were predictable so I had guessed everything that was going to happen early on. However, on the plus side I found Elliot’s best friend AJ a real laugh and enjoyed his teasing manner. Also Dr Abara was a great character and I enjoyed his funny banter and protective manner with Noah. If you like hot fireman and first love angst then you will enjoy this book. |
Forgetting You by L.A. Casey is a lovely romantic suspense. The characters are well-developed and easy to relate to. All set in a well-written romantic story that is sure to stake your breath away. |
Forgetting you By: LA Casey Was it worth the pain!? Oh these two could not have broken my heart more. Two kind people that love deeply but loose big for no other reason than fear of the what if’s. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills. Authors Blurb: When Noah Ainsley wakes up in a hospital room with no recollection of how she got there, all she knows is that she needs to see Elliot, the love of her life. Then she learns the horrifying truth: her short-term memory has been destroyed by a car accident . She and Elliot broke up five years ago. And now she’s married to Anderson, a man she doesn’t even recognise. In an instant Noah’s world is turned on its head. All she wants is Elliot by her side, but it’s clear Anderson is hurt by her rejection. Can she really have fallen in love with this stranger? Nothing makes sense—and when even Elliot refuses to answer her questions, Noah is left feeling all alone. But as her memories slowly return, Noah begins to wonder if she’s been wrong to shut Anderson out and wrong to put all her trust in Elliot. The ex she loves and the husband she doesn’t remember hold the keys to her past. And when the truth is finally revealed, which future will Noah’s heart choose? This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic. Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕 |

I loved the story of second chances with Elliott and Noah. This is one story that I feel with always have a special place in my heart. No spoilers. You will need some tissues though. Can’t wait to read more from this author. |
*Received ARC in exchange for an honest review* Rating: 3.5 Stars! https://bookboyfriendsdoitbetter.com/ It's been a while since I've read an L.A. Casey book and while it isn't one of my favorites from her, it did make me want to go on a binge of her books so that's my plan for the next few days lol. I did guess the twist from the beginning but I'm one of those people who don't mind that. The story did intrigue me enough to read it in one sitting though! I really wanted to know if my suspicions were correct lol. I actually liked the story well enough and I love L.A. Casey's writing, but I just couldn't connect to any of the characters so that's why it's a lower rating. Maybe I've been reading way too many dark romances lately because the romance between the two characters was a bit too sweet at times (I also have no idea if I should name them because I don't want to ruin the twist for anyone). But I am a big fan of L.A. Casey so I know that this won't stop me from looking forward to her next releases! This year has been a year of rediscovering old author favorites and I'm loving it! I can't wait to go back to her other books! |
Um. I'm going to attempt to write this review without giving more than basic spoilers, but there's a lot to unpack. So fair warning. It... wasn't great. I've read books by this author before, so I was intrigued by the blurb and looking forward to a mysterious, unique story. But this is the hottest of messes. Mixing flashbacks with present day, we get snippets of the relationship between Noah (heroine) and Elliot, before and after things fell apart for them. Noah's husband is part of the story, but remains an afterthought throughout, so if you're not a fan of cheating, then this one won't be for you (more on that in a minute). It's also got body shaming, a manhoe ex, a stupid breakup, and plenty of triggers. The story follows Noah as she wakes up in the hospital. She's got no memories of the last four years, so when she discovers that she's married, it seems all wrong. Last Noah knew, she was very much in love with Elliot, and now he's not even a part of her life. But the accident brought him back into her orbit, and the feelings between them are as strong as ever. As Noah tries to remember the last few years, she struggles with all of the changes in her life. This could've been great and it really just... wasn't. We only get little pieces of Noah and Elliot's relationship and the flashbacks are told out of order, so it was difficult to root for them - especially since Noah is married. Not that that stopped her at all. Yes, they sleep together with little regard to the fact that she's got a husband who has declared his love for her and she doesn't remember their relationship. Noah simply moves on without informing him that she's doing so. Noah is also extremely upset to discover that's she's "fat" (size 16), and believes Elliot would be embarrassed to be seen with her. There are some comments made that will likely offend some readers, especially since size 16 is in fact average. And let's not forget the reason they broke up. The reasoning behind it does NOT paint Noah in the best light, but I also hated that Elliot became a manhoe afterwards despite still being very much in love with Noah. Because of course he did. There's no falling in love in this "romance," these two are essentially ready to forget that the last 4 years ever happened. So don't go into this one for the love story, but the drama is also extremely predictable. That all adds up to a book that's not all that fulfilling to read. I appreciated receiving an early copy via NetGalley (and am voluntarily leaving a review), but I can't say that this was a winner for me. |

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by Netgalley)... 3.5 stars I really really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t get past Noah’s selfishness. It’s really hard to review this book without giving away major spoilers so I will try to be vague as possible. The book starts in the present and flashes to past a few times, I usually dislike that in books especially when it’s over done, but it flowed very smoothly here. Right from the beginning there is a tragedy, Elliot’s baby sister, Bailey, is killed the same car crash that Noah was injured in. Essentially I did enjoy the story and especially the characters, except for the one shall not be named, but Noah was major issue for me. In my opinion, her actions made her go from strong willed girl who knew what she wanted to a selfish woman who only cared about what she wanted. It just seemed odd for a relationship like Elliot and Noah’s, that portrayed them as soulmates to be so easily decimated. Also, Noah’s ability to move on so quickly and seriously after they ended was a major wtf moment. Even with amnesia she didn’t really care about much except what she wanted; now mind you things weren’t as them seemed, but Noah didn’t give any thoughts to her husband as she continually tried to seduce Elliot. Even Elliot’s fellow fighters thought it was wrong for them to continue like they were together when she was clearly married. I mean Noah moves in with Elliot and didn’t even file for divorce, her mother had to set up everything. It just felt off like I knew something wasn’t right, even with her marriage something seemed off, but Noah was just fine doing whatever she wanted and letting her “heart” lead the way. In the end, my favorite person was Elliot because he was, as Noah called him, a gentlemen and I loved him from beginning to end. Quite honestly, the reason and the way they broke up, kind of made me hate Noah and just want to hug Elliot. Also, out of all the people to call for help in a dangerous situation you ask the youngest person you know? It wasn’t my favorite book, but I did enjoy it and I would have rated it much higher if Noah wasn’t so self absorbed. |

L.A Casey has done it again. I honestly couldn't love this book more if i tried. It brought so many emotions out in my. How she comes us with such brilliant stories is beyond me. I absolutely loved this book. Damn near threw my kindle when i finished it ! Didn't want it to end. |
L.A. Casey managed to create some endearing characters that stole my heart, the simple but emotional prose of the author managed to captivate me every day to get into the story of Elliot and Noah. As we know from the synopsis, Noah loses her memory after an accident, she doesn’t remember that her boyfriend Elliot is now her ex and that Anderson is her husband. The first half of the book I spent with my heart in a fist seeing how Noah suffered for no remembering, and Elliot for a second chance that he so longed for but it cost him a very high price, fate is very cruel when it went. Noah and Elliot’s characters are so charismatic that they catch you from the first chapter, and this story begins with a prologue that leaves you wanting to know exactly what happened before Noah’s accident. Seeing Noah’s recovery for me was painful, because waking up one day and seeing that you’ve forgotten so many years is truly disconcerting and overwhelming. I don’t want to mention too much about this story so as not to spoil it, but I tell you this is a beautiful story with a slightly disturbing intrigue that will be a plus to keep you immersed in history. So, we will have the stories of Noah and Elliot’s, of present and past events that gradually clarify what happened. I was very surprised by this book, I think it has a romance and suspense perfect for those readers who love those two genres. It’s my first time reading this author and I loved her prose to narrate this story, I felt that I was suffering along with the characters and that’s something that few authors achieve and something that I love because I empathize so much more with everything that is happening, I think that’s one of the reasons why we read. L.A. Casey created an incredible novel amidst the pain and suspense. A deliciously captivating and emotional work that will completely trap you. If you are a second chance reader with a backdrop of suspense, this is a novel you should read right now. Thank you a lot to Netgalley and Amazon Publishing UK for this ARC in exchange for my most honest and sincere opinion. And thank you so much to the author for writing this wonderful book. TW for domestic abuse. I always enjoy a plot with amnesia. What will they remember? Will they come back to themselves? Mix in two love interests from past and present - sign me up! I did enjoy Noah and Elliot’s journey. However, I was confused with the lack of substance in the character development. I feel they could have been built up more. I was a little stressed with the lack of resources for aiding the mental health struggles. Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I will read more from this author. Thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review. |
This story will grab you attention right from the first page. Suspense, drama and a beautiful second chance love story. Overall a very enjoyable read, I couldn’t put it down! |
