Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read this pre-publication. Not James Patterson's finest. I got to the end but I had already worked out the finale for myself which is unusual for me. I felt the entire book was a second rate attempt by someone else and James Patterson had put his name and very minimal input into to it. Will not be reading from this partnership again I don't think.

flew through this book. I was drawn in completely from the first chapter. The pacing was relentless. Short sharp chapters throughout helped to add to the feeling of angst and exhilaration. I did love the format. It just kept the relentless pace going throughout. Absolutely fab!

Who is telling the truth? Michael & Megan were both brought up by a very strict family that really messed with their minds. Instead of them having a loving home they were experimented on by Dr Bart and now that has led to Michael being on the run as the FBI consider him the main suspect in the murders that have been happening. But Michael is innocent but how can he prove it? He knows that only Megan can help him but everything doesn't go according to plan and they both land up going on the run. Megan knows that she will always believe Michael as she has always looked up to him but can she believe that he has a brother Mitchell that is framing him? How can he prove that Mitchell is real as no one believes him? Mitchell has done so many bad things and Michael knows that he needs to stop him before even more people die but how can he stop him? Megan knows that she can explain everything to the FBI she just needs time but she is hiding so many secrets and the one person that trusts her will learn that she isn't just Megan. A good read. The ending caught me out.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

Had me guessing and changing my opinion to the very last page. Usually you can guess the twist that might come but not this time. Be prepared to be amazed. A brilliant story.

I'm a long-term James Patterson fan. Recently though with all the collaborations and the constant churn of new releases I've admittedly stopped trying to keep up with all of them.
This one though, which I received as preview copy from NetGalley, has been the weakest for a long time - probably since DanielX.
It's just plain confusing and matters don't really get resolved, so you don't quite get to the point where you feel like you've found out what's going/gone on properly. Plain frustrating!
It was touch and go whether I'd get to the end of this one to be honest. Not one to make into a series!

A standalone thriller from the prolific James Paterson. An FBI agent and an L.A. cop join forces to investigate a series of brutal killings across America. Lots of twists and turns and an ending that let me hope there will be a sequel.

I dip in and out of James Patterson’s novels periodically – he is so prolific it is hard to keep up. However when i saw that The Coast to Coast Murders was co-written by another favourite author of mine JD Barker, I was lured into reading it. I have to say, this is the best of his novels I’ve read for a while. I was engrossed by the entire concept of a vociferous serial killer being discovered and then disappearing. What a roller coaster this was – It was twisty and deviously plotted. I was genuinely flabbergasted by the ending and never saw it coming at all. It is one of those books that stays with you for a long time.

Michael Kepler gets a call from a neighbour, the building they live in has a water leak and it seems to be coming from Michael’s apartment. When he gets home Michael discovers the taps running and the body of a woman in his bath. LAPD Detective Dobbs is assigned the case and it seems to be a slam dunk then the FBI arrive. Special Agent Jessica Gimble is convinced that Kepler is a serial killer the FBI have chasing. He’s left several bodies across the country. When Kepler escapes from custody Dobbs and Gimble join forces and embark on a cross country chase after their quarry.

Struggled with this one at first as it is written from several different points of view but it didn’t take long for it to have me gripped. Really good, well-paced read with loads of twists and turns.

Thanks to Netgalley, Random House Cornerstone, James Patterson and J D Barker for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Well this book left me not knowing who was the “baddie” at the end. I really enjoyed this book with its twists and turns almost on every page. Two Doctors, Dr Barton (a psychiatrist) and Dr Rose Fitzgerald (a psychologist) adopted two children from a orphanage, Michael and Megan and the story is all about manipulation on their psyche. Michael was making his own way in life as a long distance lorry driver having escaped the clutches of his adoptive parents where as Megan stayed and he remained close to her. Something happens in his flat which he has no knowledge of when he returns from a trip. He telephones the police and Detective Dobbs enters the story and eventually an FBI Agents is involved. Jessica Gimble. Michael becomes the main suspect in a string of murders up and down the coast of America and it is up to Dobbs and Gimble to solve them. The story continues with their investigations and Michael trying to prove his innocence. Megan is helping him – or is she. Was Mitchell real or not – these are the questions. I could go on but could easily spoil the enjoyment for other readers. A fab Patterson book

It is no secret that I am a long time James Patterson fan. His books are just so clever and addictive. And this time he has teamed up with the dark mind of JD Barker. What a combination! It was a long book for James Patterson, but with his usual short chapters I flew through it.

What a fantastically twisty story! Police are called to the scene of a murder - a women in a bathtub. The apartments owner, Michael Fitzgerald, claims to have never met the woman despite the photos and evidence to the contrary. He is suspect number one but maintains that he is innocent. This is the start of a crazy, wild ride across the country to catch the killer. There is a lot more than meets the eye with this one and so many plot twists you will be dizzy.

A fantastic crime thriller for 2 fantastic writers. Thanks to Random House UK and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

This is a story that had me enthralled from the first page. It is quite amazing that an author can take simple and ordinary words and thread them together to make a tale so gripping. Coast-to-Coast Murders is one of the few books that I have read this year that definitely deserves its 5 Star rating.

If you love books that keep you on the edge of your seat, keep you guessing and keep you turning the pages then this is, without a doubt, a book you need to read. Just make sure that you make the time to read it in one go because you will not want to put it down once you start reading.

I can't believe I'm saying this but this was the first ever book by James Patterson in the whole 20 odd years I've been reading his books that I very nearly threw in the towel and gave up on!

It just did not feel like a JP book, nothing about it screams the usual style...

Now don't get me wrong once I got into it I really enjoyed it BUT it took me until a good 40/45% in before it grabbed me.

I actually think if I hadn't known it was a JP book I'd have enjoyed it more.. why? Because you learn to expect that special something with all of his books and for some reason this didnt quite have that spark.

Full to the brim with twists and turns, you'll think you've got a handle on it and you're spun in another direction

The storyline was brilliant, as expected, the character development was spot on, as expected... it was just the writing style I wasnt expecting.

I personally think just this once the pairing if James Patterson and J.D Barker wasn't the best match.

I 100% dont want to give a negative review as overall it's a really good read.... as long as you're not expecting the usual JP novel!

Huge thanks to netgalley and Random House UK for the ARC.

Another classic, 'someone has been murdered and I'm being framed for it,' mystery thriller. As usual, Patterson had me turning the pages constantly as the plot twist bounced between insane and absurd.

My thought process while I was reading:
WTF is happening? (That was just on repeat. In my head. The whole time.)

My thought process upon finishing:
WTF did I just read?
Is there a sequel? I have so many questions

This book came out on the 1st of October so of course there is no sequel...yet. Patterson, if you're reading this, I need a sequel. Please write one. Thank you.

Michael has had a troubled past, but is now on track - until he receives a call to say there is water pouring from his flat to the one below. Hurrying home, he finds a young woman dead in his bath. And a chain of events is set in motion.

The first third of the book was really gripping; it then becomes much more complex and the reader is bounced around, wondering if this is real, if this person is who they say, if this has really happened. The bodies pile up, as the FBI and Federal police try to track what has become a serial killing spree. How guilty is Michael? Will his foster-sister Megan be able to help him? And who is Mitchell?

The rollercoaster is written well and certainly kept my attention. You will need to concentrate though to work it all out! Several times I thought I knew what was going on, only for the plot to skew off in another direction.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone and Century for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Since starting my blog last year, I haven’t read a lot from James Patterson as regularly as I used to, apart from The Women’s Murder Club series. I had such an obsession with his books and was always the first in line to buy them on their release day, but I have been so engrossed in discovering new authors, that my TBR of James’ books have been piling up, so I thought it was about time to dive back in!

When the opportunity presented itself to read an advanced copy of The Coast-to-Coast Murders, I jumped at the chance and it was the perfect book to reacquaint myself with James Patterson’s work again. Collaborating this time around with J.D Barker, the authors have crafted a plot that is full of action and suspense and one that will have you on the edge of you seat throughout!

The authors have done a great job with the storyline and had me completely hooked from the get go. My fingers definitely got a workout flicking those pages on my Kindle that’s for sure. I was in its clutches and was taken along for the ride. The cast of characters that have been assembled are well developed and perfect in the roles they were given to play.

What I love about books from James Patterson and his co-authors, are the short chapters. They suck you in and you find yourself just reading and reading unable to put the book down, as each ends with you wanting more! I have been spoilt by this and when I read a book that has longer chapters, I have to admit that this can frustrate me a bit, especially if the book is a slow burn.

Not having read a book from J.D Barker before, I really enjoyed this pairing and I think he is the perfect fit to write with James Patterson. Everything was so in sync between the two and it was like they were one author. I hope to read another book from them together and I will definitely be checking out J.D. Barkers other work.

All up The Coast-to-Coast Murders is an addictive read. Fast paced, action packed, with twists and turns aplenty to keep you on your toes, that all lead to a jaw dropping finale. This is one killer read and it has reignited that spark again in me to read all of James Patterson’s work. I can’t wait to go back and read what I have been missing out on!

Detective Dobbs and FBI agent Gimble join forces to work on a murder case. Michael and Megan Fitzgerald are siblings involved in the case and are not what they seem. The story starts with a woman found murdered in Michael's apartment and he is the chief suspect and quickly arrested. There are lots of twists and the story kept me gripped right through the book. Its been a few years since i read a James Patterson book and this is up there with his best.

This book kept me enthralled for several days in my spare moments. The intricately twisted strands of the plot and the plethora of characters were well handled and mostly easy to navigate. This is the first James Patterson that I have read, but I will probably now read a lot more.
An interesting thing about this novel is that I had no notion of its length as I was on an ebook, yet I had one or two points where I thought it might be coming to a denouement, only to look at the percentage and find that it still had a long way to go. This was intriguing and an incentive to read on and find out where the story would go next. The actual plot basis is child abuse and manipulation so the subject matter can be difficult to stomach. The weight of the subject matter is balanced by the pleasure of the character development and plot. Recommended.

This book grabs you at the start and pulls you in! Michael returns home from work to find a woman dead in his bathtub. He calls his sister and he calls the police - why wouldn't he? He's never met this woman. But all is not as it seems when Police visit the apartment of the victim and find photos of her with Michael and hiss clothes at her place... everything says he knows her, well. But he maintains he doesn't.

As the case progresses we learn about michaels upbringing- a traumatic start which continued when he was adopted by two psychiatrists who used the trauma of michael and his sister to complete experiments on the children. Michael thinks he's over all this but could they have caused his personality to fracture? Could he have killed Alyssa Tepper? As we find out, the investigation gets bigger with more casualties left in the wake.

I loved the start of this book and then there were so many twists and turns it kept me guessing right till the end... the very end I felt was beyond belief to be honest but I enjoyed the twist all the same. This book is long. Really long. But the chapters are really short so its got a great pace and its difficult to put down.

Overall, a good read that has fast pace and plenty of twists in the tale!

James Patterson at his best.
It has you on the edge of your seat from the very first page.
It is a very complex plot which you think half way through you have solved Only to be blind sided by the twist at the end.
Absolutely brilliant
