Who wouldn’t love to live on Christmas Street and experience a live advent calendar!!
Loved it gave me all the warm and fuzzy cosy Christmas vibes that I look forward to for a Christmas read.
Great mix of characters, all with their own secrets and back stories all coming together for a magical time of year.
Highly recommend.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book

This is a delightful Christmas novel about a woman who moves out of London to a small town, on to Christmas Street where they’re doing a real-life advent calendar, putting on activities for their neighbours. Her new house is number 14, so she’s day 14 and she’s really nervous about this, but people help her out and she slowly learns to love her neighbours and new home. There’s one fly in the ointment – the grumpy old man who lives at number 24, who doesn’t participate in the social life of the community at all. She becomes convinced that there’s something she can do to help him…will she overcome her personal issues and help him deal with his and reunite with his estranged grandson? It is Christmas, after all…

A truly heart warming, beautifully written festive read.
This is such a charming read from the start. As you get to know the characters more throughout the story, you can't help but love them.
The romance, friendships, and love that flowed through this gorgeous story really kept me invested and needing to know how it would end for them all.
A thoroughly enjoyable read from beginning to end.

Festive cheer is needed more than ever this year and thankfully all the Christmas books that I have read in the run up to the season that everybody loves have delivered that much desired happiness in spades. There are always plenty of Christmas books published each year and fortunately all the reads I chose this year have been absolutely brilliant and packed full with all things Christmas and none more so than Miracle on Christmas Street by Annie O’Neill. It’s a fabulous read with such a lovely meaning and message behind it.

The entire concept of the residents of Christmas Street joining together to create a living Advent calendar was just pure genius even if one of the residents wasn’t that keen too join in. He is rather known for his lack of interaction and participating in social activities with his neighbours but still that didn’t deter the residents and newcomer Jess Green from putting on a fantastic display in the 24 days leading up to the most special day of the year.

Black Friday 367 days ago and Jess is trying to put on a brave front after her life has majorly imploded. The reasons for this don’t become specifically clear until much later in the book but you get the sense whatever it was has had the most devastating impact on her. Jess works as a primary school teacher and now an enforced absence from work, which then lead to her being sacked, has led to her needing to revaluate her life. She wants to cocoon away from everything. Teaching was her vocation and her life has been ruined. I could identify immediately with Jess as I am a primary school teacher myself and I knew whatever had gone down wasn’t good and it would take an awful lot for her to be able to move forward especially as she knows she certainly wasn’t the person in the wrong. A year later and Jess has decided to move away from London to get away from the memories of the life she expected she would live for quite some time.

The town of Boughton is to be her new home and a new job in a school has been secured but this doesn’t start until after Christmas. Jess finds herself moving to Christmas Street but she is so upset and torn apart by her recent experiences that she refuses to take down the sale agreed sign as she just has no faith that this move will prove successful. God love her she was so down on herself and full of woe, solitude and despair. In a way I couldn’t blame her for what she had been through, no-one would wish it on any teacher. It’s the ultimate nightmare and her confidence has been ripped from her and it would be very challenging to get any of it back in order to move forward. Christmas for Jess this year is just something to get through, rather than get excited for. She wants the chance to allow her wounds to begin to heal and for her to reset her life aspirations. But little does she bargain on meeting the whirlwind that is Drea who has created the Advent calendar.

The calendar was such a fun, embracing and unique concept. Who wouldn’t want a little Christmas surprise every day? Each resident opened their doors to a fun activity every day and my excitement to see what they would deliver just grew and grew. Yes it may have been pressure for some and Mr Winters just wasn’t getting into the mood but still I had a feeling there were reasons behind this. With Jess trying to knock down his barriers I knew she was helping herself at the same time even if she herself didn’t realise it. No doubt about it Mr Winters was the Scrooge of the story and aspects of A Christmas Carol with a modern day spin did spring to mind. I loved the way an old tale with an important message was giving an up to date twist. A real community feeling of coming together to create some joy and happiness was certainly growing on Christmas street with a carolling kazoo choir, a Christmas pinata, Christmas jenga, best dressed holiday pet show and Jess’ evening of painting a Christmas tree on her wall with all the numbers of the houses and a stencil representing each of them were just a few of the brilliant and creative ideas mentioned. Annie O’Neill had such fantastic ideas throughout this book that only added to the wonderful atmosphere and festive feelings created throughout the entire story. It really did make me feel better about things and certainly took my mind off outside troubles for the time I spent reading it.

I know we weren’t meant to like Mr Winters initially but everyone has a reason for acting the way they do and I loved the storyline of Jess when she just kept pushing and pushing wanting to get through to him and to make him happy again. But for me it was the character of Drea, I just couldn’t warm to. Yes, I loved her idea for the calendar but overall she just seemed to be too pushy. She was an organiser clearly and her intentions were more than good but at times she came across as being rather intimidating and in your face. I thought on occasions Jess was treading wearily around her for fear of doing or saying the wrong thing. Jess’ idea to bring happiness into Drea’s life was a good one and I hated that Drea took it up the wrong way. I didn’t detest her as a character but she certainly wasn’t my favourite.

As more and more doors are opened on Christmas Street, and events and projects for the calendar come to fruition, we see Jess start to go through a change and it’s a positive one. She has been ripped apart and her life shattered but coming to Christmas Street could just be the makings of her. Her little side project regarding Mr Winters began by mistakenly opening a card for him and what she reads inside inspired her to go that little bit further to try and change the man who seems so better and cut off from the world and everyone it. Through trying to heal Mr Winters Jess was doing the same for herself and I really loved this storyline. The rest of the residents may have given up on him but Jess was determined to do the right thing and by doing this she unwittingly was finding the happiness and contentment she needed in order to move forward in her own personal life. Happiness, kindness and confidence makes life better. Jess began to realise that moping around was not going to change her past. What was done was done and now she had the power to change her future. Her destiny was in her hands and I was rooting for her all the way.

Miracle on Christmas Street was a wonderful read and if that stunning cover doesn’t entice you to pick up this captivating and sparkling story that the concept of the calendar and the message of peace, hope joy and love certainly will. The only little issue I had came towards the end as I felt the ending was very rushed given all the brilliant storylines they had been set up throughout the book. But maybe that leaves room for a sequel. Set in the summer perhaps? I can only wish but I did love this story and the characters so I hope that wish comes true. Do make sure to read this fantastic Christmas book if you get an opportunity to do so.

Jess's life got turned upside down, and we all know that changes are so difficult for us all, good or bad! Jess was a teacher, but due to an 'incident', she was fired and has moved to change her pace. As you might guess, Jess isn't absolutely thrilled about Christmas this year as she just moved to her new place and it's December 1st.

But how could you remain the Grinch when the street your live in is a literal advent calendar? Her neighbors (well, with a grumpy exception) are Christmas lovers (yay) and each has is one number for the advent calendar. Each house has a Christmas duty on their day and they all socialise throughout the entire month. This idea not only bought me as a reader, but bought our main character as well. Brought her to life.

Jess was an extremely likable character. Just absolutely sweet, and I wanted to hug her every time I felt her struggle. I understand Jess.

The atmosphere this book creates is heart-warming and dynamic, lively and Christmassy. But it's the characters for me, especially Drea, that lure you in.

I recommend it to anyone who wants to get into the Christmas spirit, read about love, and friendships, about hardships in life, and overcoming them, moving on and simply enjoying life as it is. I truly hope we get to hear more from this author next Christmas!

I have read a few Christmas books already this year, but unfortunately this one was a disappointment. The characters were difficult to like and relate to, the storyline was a bit lame and I found it very predictable and a bit too fluffy romance, but lacking in true Christmas spirit. Sorry not for me.

Jess has left her much loved job because of a cheese-sandwich related disaster and has moved to Boughton just before Christmas. As she moves into her new house on Christmas Street, she discovers that the street has a living advent calendar - where each of the 24 houses in the close hosts one evening event in the run up to Christmas day. Everyone joins in, apart from the grumpy old man at number 24.

This is a charming story, where you get to know the residents in the street at the same time as Jess does. It's women's fiction rather than romance, but there is a strong romantic thread in it. The ending was just lovely.
It's choc full of Christmassy things. I want one of Rex and Kai's wreaths. They sound wonderful.

This is a clever and lively Christmassy novel with its central premise of a living Advent calendar in the form of Christmas Street.
When she moves into no 14, Jess - which really seems to be the 'in' name this season - Jess is forced to start mingling with her neighbours because of this when she'd rather stick her head in the sand. She is a little prickly now and again but the magic of Christmas slowly gets to her, and in particular the magic of her new community.
It's a fun, feisty and quirky story.

The love I felt for this book. It exceeded any expectations I had for it. After having the year from hell, Seeing Jess pick herself up and (reluctantly) starting afresh, how she was welcomed to Christmas Street, getting to know all the neighbours, her budding friendship with Mr Winters and finally seeing Drea get her happy ever after (my heart was so full at that stage), it was just the loveliest, heart warming Christmas read. This book would melt the coldest of hearts. Highly recommend it.

A great feasitve read, the story of Jess who has moved to Christmas after her life in London fell apart. She moves in on the 1st December, just in time for the living advent that one of her new neighbours has organised. Not everyone is embracing the christmas spirit, Jess included, but will she get caught up in it anyway?

Loved reading this book, it bring together the community and that is how we should all be living. Hope there will be another to follow this novel as I feel there is more to give than just one book. A 5 star with a great recommendation from me.

This was a very clever theme for a book, all the houses on Christmas Street becoming the numbers on an advent calendar and doing something social at their house for the rest of the neighbours in the street each evening during the month of December. Handy if you have 24 houses anyway!

The story itself is based on this but has a lot more going on. The main character, Jess, has moved to Christmas Street for a new start and a new job, after losing her job at a very exclusive school because of an incident. She's a bit down in the dumps and has spent ages wallowing at her parents house but is now starting off again on her own. I must admit I did find her quite irritating in parts (failure to return a friend's multiple texts/calls and stuffing a letter in a drawer because she didn't want to know what was in it/failure to take the 'sold' sign down on her house in case she changed her mind), she really needed to stop avoiding issues she didn't want to deal with.

But the advent calendar social gatherings force her to join in and she makes friends with her neighbours, especially with Drea who gives her no choice but to be her friend, just the sort of forceful personality she needed to drag her back into living her life again and stop feeling so sorry for herself.

There is also the old, grumpy Mr Winters at No.24 who everyone avoids, but somehow through circumstances Jess finds herself getting involved with, even though he doesn't want anything to do with her at first.

I really liked the group of characters, especially the forceful Drea and the flamboyant florists Kai & Rex, and definitely warmed to Mr Winters as the story went on. It was really lovely to see the neighbours pulling together to help each other out when disaster strikes. A really enjoyable book with a lovely Christmassy feel.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to NetGalley for forwarding me a copy of this book, in return for an honest review.
From the very beginning of this book,it was like I had stepped inside a Hallmark Christmas movie - and I absolutely loved it!!
I loved every little bit of this story and found myself reading quicker and quicker, just so that I could find out what happens next. This was the first book that I had read by this author and it definitely won’t be my last.
This book brings the community of Christmas street together and left me feeling all warm and fuzzy and full of Christmas cheer!

This book is set in Christmas Street, a street that has 24 houses. The neighbours have joined together to make a real life Advent calendar.
Jess moves in on December the 1st when a snowball fight is taking place. Each resident has to do something Festive when it is their turn. I thought that it was a good concept and I wanted to know what each day would bring.
Jess is making a fresh start in life, after a bad year. We don't get to find out the full story though until much later in the book.
I enjoyed reading this book, it was very cosy and festive. It was nice to see the community spirit and friendships that developed throughout the book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.
