The Perfect Liar was a fantastic read and a compelling storyline. I could not put it down and stayed up hours to finish reading. It's superbly written and I loved the ending and the suspense it portrayed in the writing, this is definitely an author to keep an eye on.

Even though I guessed what was happening early on in the book, I enjoyed The Perfect Liar.

Susanne heads to Tuscany for the summer with her two best friends to stay in her neighbours gorgeous villa. Here Susanne meets Harry. Charming, good looking and self assured, although he’s almost twenty years younger, he’s the perfect holiday fling. However he isn’t who he says he is and everything he’s said is a lie.

Tense and gritty I found the book flowed well with likeable characters. I can certainly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

This is a well written thriller with more twists and turns than Le Mans racetrack. The book starts slowly by introducing the main characters and then gathers pace culminating in an explosive end. A lovely story to read curled up in front of a glowing fire. Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

The Perfect Liar by Beverly Harvey
Suzanne and her two friends Evie and Dale embark on a month long journey to Tuscany. While there they plan on some relaxation, drinking wine, and seeing the sights. All three women are experiencing something different in their lives separation, death, and just wanting to see more. They arrive at the rented villa and everything goes just as they planned except that something .... eh hm... someone... caught Suzanne’s eye. His name is Harry and he is the much younger Godson of the cabins owner. Sparks fly immediately and a torrid affair begins. But, it seems that one of her friends is very suspicious of Harry.. It seems young Harry has a plan to turn Suzanne’s focus solely onto him and break the friendship of the tree women. The writer does a great job of introducing the reader to the characters. We get enough background without going too in depth. There were a few places that seem to drag on but overall I would say this was a very good mystery because I did not see what was going to happen next. I guess I would say that some of the reviews that are not so good would say that the parts where it drags on about the vacation itself probably could have been shortened or even omitted but it does give the story personality.

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

To be honest, I started this book not expecting too much but was surprised.
It's a fast-paced story, great characters and storyline, I didn't found it boring and the Italian background gives so many holiday vibes. Nice ending even though you kind of figure out where it was headed.
I recommend this as a quick read for those who like a simple story. There is nothing very new or that put you over the edge about the story, but it is a book you can relax with.

I started this book not expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this one, a bit predictable at times but a fun read with some very good characters.

Susanne and her two friends Evie and Dale fly to Tuscany to spend a relaxing holiday in the sun or so they think. They are sharing the Villa with a handsome young man named Harry and it is not long before Susanne finds herself being attracted t him. But Harry is not all he appears and he has plans for Susanne that will make him money.
Fast paced thriller that I found difficult to put down, great characters and plenty of action. I did predict some of the twists and probably a plot full of holes but I really enjoyed it. Rounded up to 4 stars.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Was an ok read. Had a hard time picking this one up and wanting to lose myself in it.
The characters didn't really do it for me.
The ending got better but figured out where it was headed.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

The Perfect Liar by Beverley Harvey is a fun book that will have you questioning the characters, its well-written with a story that moves forward. A girl’s trip with a mystery! It centers on three women; Susanne who is separated from her husband, Evie is dealing with grief because her mother just died, and Dale who is hoping for a bit of fun as the three women go for a vacation.

They rent a villa in Tuscany, where meet the owner’s son, Harry. Though he is much younger than her, Susanne is drawn to this charismatic man despite alarm bells going off in Dale’s head.

OF COURSE he is not as perfect as Susanne thinks. There is more to this young man…

The month in Tuscany was meant to be a relaxing getaway for Susanne and her two best friends. Meeting handsome fellow holidaymaker Harry, and the passionate fling they embark on, is just the icing on the cake.

But Harry is not who he says he is.

He has a plan, and Susanne is at the heart of it. Win her over, turn her against her friends, make her see he’s the only one who can make her happy. Then she will become his ticket to the luxurious life he craves. He has done terrible things to get this far – nothing will stop him now.

Not even Harry can plan for what happens next.

As Susanne’s friends fight Harry for her affection, hostility builds in the villa along with the heat until it erupts in a devastating act of violence. But a worse betrayal is yet to come – from the last place any of them expect…

Keep your eye on this book, I think a lot of readers will enjoy it! Coming out on November 6. Only 99 cents on Kindle!

Thanks to NetGalley and to the publisher for the ARC, which I received in exchange for my honest review. The Perfect Liar is the story of three women in their early forties who spend the summer at a villa in Tuscany. Each of the women has reached a turning point in their lives and are eager to escape the daily grind in the Italian sun. The women get more than they bargained for when a handsome young man in his twenties who purports to be the godson of the villa's owner, shows more than a passing interest in one of the women.

A torrid affair takes a tragic turn and suspicions run wild as the summer comes to a close. The book has a great premise and I was very excited to read it. The author creates a richly atmospheric world transporting readers to an opulent villa under the azure skies of Tuscany. Unfortunately, this isn't quite enough to redeem certain aspects of the tale. Namely, the book is repetitive and slow. paced The chapters are at points so similar that I kept thinking that I had already read that section and had simply lost my place in the book. This was sadly not the case and readers are treated to endless descriptions of the characters eating and swimming.

I wouldn't characterize the book as particularly suspenseful as most readers will have realized from the start that Harry is not who he appears to be. I was not particularly satisfied with the ending as it pertains to the three women in the story. However, the author nearly redeems herself by introducing a new mystery at the very end of the book pertaining to a certain young man. I would have been interested to find out more about his journey but the book ends there.

Overall, this would be a decent if not particularly original vacation read.

The Perfect Liar was a great, well paced, different style "thriller." I have found lately many books to have similar concepts but this one was quite different! I truly enjoyed turning the page to see what would happen next, what the big secret was, and how I would be further connected to each character in a different way.

I recommend this as a quick read for those who like a different style thriller!

Loved this book. An all around riveting read and one I highly recommend. Unusual plot, kept me guessing until the shocking ending. Don't miss reading this one

This is a good light read – it is paced well, has a simple & good story.

Susanne is divorced and her son Cody is visiting her ex-husband. She feels stressed and thinks of a vacation with her friends Evie & Dale. Coincidentally, they come to know upon a place owned by Veronica – who is Susanne’s neighbour. Veronica readily offers that they can vacation at her villa but that her Godson Harry would also be there. The three friends go ahead with their plan not expecting an issue due to that.

As they arrive at the villa, they find that Harry, a 24-year old is very handsome. Harry feels drawn to Susanne and shortly after Susanne is too, though she is initially worried about the implications. Both Evie & Dale are taken aback by the turn of events, and Dale is especially suspicious of Harry’s motives.

At a little over the half way mark, I could sense the direction the story was taking. It is simple story, with a limited set of characters. There is nothing very new about the story, but it is a book you can relax with.

My rating: 3.5 / 5.

The concept of this novel was good. Three women friends get a chance to take a vacation at a villa in Tuscany, just what they all need. Susanne is beautiful and talented, and when son Conor asks to spend time with his Dad and the new girlfriend. Susanne can't wait to get away. Her friend Evie is insecure, overweight, and has recently lost her Mom. Dale is the wild child, a friend of Susanne's since they were young. Off they go, and on arrival find Harry living in the villa, the owner's godson, young, attractive, and flirtatious. The story drags a little bit for the first half, and I figured out what was going on long before the ladies did! Susanne begins an affair with Harry, and her friends try to warn her off him, to no avail. The story picks up once Harry brings his young friend Star to stay in the villa. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of this nove.

Unfortunately despite other four/five star reviews I did not feel this book lived up to my expectations. Very easy to read but just plodded on and it wasn’t until the last few chapters where I felt the storyline perked up - it had a good ending but I nearly gave up halfway as the pace and storyline was quite banal and did not grab my attention. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity in exchange for an honest review.

The Perfect Liar by Beverley Harvey is a suspenseful thriller that makes you connect with the characters before the suspense starts.

Susanne misses her son who is visiting his dad in Scotland for the summer.

Dale is avoiding a woman she doesn’t want to date anymore but keeps texting her.

Evie is mourning the loss of her mother with no job and no plans for the future.

They decide to take a month long trip to Tuscany. They are staying with Susanne’s neighbor’s godson, Harry. Harry is young, attractive and charming. One of the women starts sleeping with Harry. This causes tension between all three women. Harry seems off to one of the women. What is Harry hiding? Will Harry tear apart these three women’s friendships?

I really enjoyed The Perfect Liar. First off I loved the setting. I was lucky enough to visit Italy a few years ago, so this book brought back great memories of that trip. The women take a mini trip to Florence and visited many places I visited.

The women’s friendships really added to The Perfect Liar. Susanne and Dale have been friends since childhood. Dale is very protective of Susanne and always looking out for her. Susanne and Evie met at the gym a few months ago and quickly became close. Dale and Evie just met and quickly develop a friendship.

The way this story was told was very unique, and I thought added to the story. Chapters rotated between the main character’s points of view. Sometimes something would be revealed, and the next chapter would go slightly back and explain leading up to that event through the perspective of another character.

The Perfect Liar is an excellent thriller. It starts out with an in depth introduction of the main characters. By the time Harry started seeming suspicious, I was so invested in the three women and felt like they were friends. This really made everything that happen feel personal. There were some parts that were easily predictable, but that didn’t make me like the story less. When I thought everything was revealed, there was still so much more to happen. The ending of The Perfect Liar was perfect.

I recommend The Perfect Liar to thriller fans.

I quite enjoyed reading this, but it wasn't a 'thriller'. The first half just read as three friends on a nice holiday, with one of them sleeping with a younger man. I liked the descriptions of Italy and the relationships between the characters, but nothing actually happened until about two thirds in, and even then it was interesting rather than 'thrilling.'

I would have liked to have seen more from the male perspective as those were the most interesting chapters. I did like the last third of the book but we had to wade through a lot of what was essentially holiday-journalling to get there.

I would recommend this as a pleasant enough read, maybe as a beach read if you're on holiday yourself, but don't go into it expecting a fast-paced mystery/thriller

Quick note to the editor: The main character was mostly referred to as 'Susanne' but a few times this changed to 'Suzanne'

The Perfect Liar by Beverley Harvey
Susanne -The woman who had it all. Even after her divorce Susanne continues to portray a woman who has it all and knows what she wants out of life. She is confident, physically fit, beautiful, and mostly content with the way her life is. She adores her teenage son and only starts to feel that she needs more in her life after her son goes away for an extended holiday with his father and the father’s girlfriend.
Evie- Shy, mousie, unmotivated, grief-ridden, and living in her own shadow. She is dealing with the lost of her mother and feeling of loneliness when she is befriended by Susanne at their local gym.
Dale- Does not take relationships seriously, in and out relationships with women. Laid back and ready to have fun.
Harry- Young, Attractive, mysterious, and knows how to play women to his advantage.

A girl’s trip turns into a month of lust, mistrust, jealousy, and murder. Susanne tries to resist Harry and his sexual advances but falls prey to his manipulation. She is easy put under the spell of his charm and begins to distance herself from her friends and turns a blind eye to the things that are not right to her about Harry. Dale is suspicious of Harry’s motives from the beginning and seeks to find out what he wants from her best friend Susanne. Dale goes to Susanne with her suspicious about Harry, but Susanne does not believe her. Evie tries to stay out of the discord between Susanne, Harry, and Dale by not getting involved with Dale’s mission to prove that Harry is up to no good.

I must say that I enjoyed reading this book and did not want to put it down, however I was able to guess the parts leading up to the ending way ahead of the ending. I kept reading to see what they did with the real Harry. The characters were well developed and the setting of the scenery of Italy made me want to visit there in real life.

Some books present themselves as thrillers but don't quite hit the mark - this book is pulled so tight, that I actually spent the whole time reading it in state of enhanced tension.

It's a vivid read, with some really strong characters and relationships, the storyline pulling together three women, two of whom are old mates and one is a recently befriended woman of the beautiful Susanne, who is kind and rich and gorgeous and maybe a bit naive. Dale is her oldest friend, spiky and sparky, and Evie is the newest addition, soft and underwhelming.
They manage to end up in a stunning villa in the Tuscan hills, and its against this backdrop that the tension is introduced, and pulled tighter and tighter.. I really enjoyed the descriptions, both of the surrounding countryside and the people - the author has a lovely way of summoning real personality into her characters and environment. I particulary enjoyed the relationship between Dale and Susanne - it felt natural and real.

The narrative was a bit stilted and I felt that maybe the reader could have been left to their own opinions a bit more - we didn't necessairly need everything spelled out to us all the time. Despite this, I enjoyed it and read it in three sittings, having been wondering where it was going go and how it was going to end. The ending wasnt what I expected and I liked it all the more for that.

Ooooo... this was good! I've never heard of Beverley Harvey but this novel had me hooked. it's fast paced, set in a beautiful location and the ending is in no way obvious.

Brilliant writing style and narration - told from the point of view of various key characters all who were likeable and/or unlikeable in their own way!

Would definitely recommend to any thriller fans - this was a little similar to a Lianne Moriarty or a Liv Constantine. I will be looking ofrward to reading more from the author.
