It doesn’t suggest this is the second book in a series but I suspect it is as it follows on so well from The Little Village of New Starts and has some of the same characters involved. Both stories are set in the Scottish Highland village of Lockton and both are fantastic reads IMHO. This story has Meg Scott planning to spend her first Christmas in the village rather than going to stay with her dysfunctional family. She runs a Christmas shop that is open all year round and she loves all things festive, often dressing up as an elf. However, when her Mum and sister turn up planning to stay, Meg knows her fun festive feelings are in danger of being replaced with the usual family dramas. Tom Riley-Clark is visiting the village to help his friend by bartending at The Apple Cross inn. He is the antithesis of Meg as he hates the idea of Christmas and anything to do with the festivities. However, they do say that opposites attract and that certainly seems to be the case for this couple . . . but he has a huge secret that he’s not sharing, one about his past that could stop their developing relationship before it has any chance to grow. With burst pipes causing floods, demonstrations of community spirit, friendship developing and fresh starts beginning, this is a lovely story of community, dreams, friendship and romance. There are several romances, including a second chance one, and it is a heartwarming read that is delightful to escape into – it even has a reindeer to add to the festivities! Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed after thoroughly enjoying reading it! |
A sweet blend of Rockstar and Christmas in this seasonal romance. Meet Meg who loves Christmas, has her own Christmas shop and wears elf outfits and glitter, and Tom an ex-rockstar who’s hates Christmas for the emotions it causes, who is hiding away from the world and denying himself music. But Meg and Tom aren’t so different after all and need to let go of the facades they’re holding onto to have their happily ever after. I am now going to check out more by this author. |
Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book and for letting me take part in the tour. I love Christmas (maybe not as much as Meg) so I was looking forward to diving into this one. Meg LOVES Christmas. I mean LOVES IT. She has a Christmas shop/Café which she has open all year round. She is seriously into the festive season. I have never met anyone so as into Christmas as Meg! I really liked Meg. I could see us sitting down for a hot chocolate and a chat in her wonderful café or a sparkly cocktail in the Apple Cross Inn. Tom is very dreamy. You can tell under that gruff exterior is a heart of gold. I just wanted to give him a big hug and let him get all his troubles out. I love the idea of the promise tree and I’m thinking of doing something similar myself this year. It sounds like such a good tradition. This book was sent in a beautiful little village in Scotland. It is a real postcard village covered in snow with a real community vibe. It’s the perfect place for a Christmas getaway but you’d need to pack some very warm clothes and your snow boots. This book had a vibe that there has been a story here before. When I looked at Donna’s other books, I was right. The Little Village of New Beginnings is also set here. This is on my TBR and I will definitely be reading it as I can’t get enough of this village. I think this book can be read as a standalone you just get the feeling that there’s some stories for other characters that you have missed. This is a beautiful story about letting go of the past, healing and forgiveness. It’s a great book to curl up with inside the warm with a hot drink. |

What more could you ask for in a festive novel than Scotland,, snow,, a small town, lovely characters and ofcourse CHRISTMAS. Enchanting storyline with twists and turns, a real curl up with a hot chocolate book. A festive family Christmas! Based in beautiful Scotland, stunning scenery and lots of festive snow not to mention a herd of reindeer! Meg lives and breathes Christmas 365 days of the year, working in her Christmas shop, wearing festive clothes and organising Christmas cheer in lockton, but this Christmas is different, Tom a handsome Christmas hating celebrity arrives in the village admist much speculation, as do megs mum and sister swiftly followed by her dad! Family tensions, secrets and trust issues abound a plenty in the lead up the Christmas Day, but with a little bit of Christmas magic and cheer all ends well in the end. Thank you net galley for this early read. |
A fantastic, festive, feel good read. I flew through this book and didn't want it to end. Tom is a complex character with a few issues and a complicated past but has a heart of good which makes him an ideal leading man. Meg, not without her issues is a great, relatable character. Like really? Who wouldn't want to run a year round Christmas shop in a Scottish village? The perfect, feel good read for the festive season. |

Christmas is coming and I am loving lots of these uplifting and gorgeous Christmas reads and this one was no exception. Meg is determined to have a peaceful Christmas this year. She wants to leave her family drama and less than perfect boyfriends behind her and have a happy, quiet Christmas in traditional, beautiful Lockton. Meg gets more than she bargained for though, as heart broken Tom and her mixed up family are on her heels and about to shake things up. What will this mean for Meg’s Christmas plans? This book had some really good elements that I enjoyed. The characters are likeable and relatable, while mysterious Tom and the family secret gives the plot an extra edge. I loved all the descriptions of Christmas in picturesque, cold Lockton and this definitely gave me lots of excitement and ideas for the festive season. If you are looking for a quick, charming, festive read then this is ideal! |
A charming and sweet tale of romance. A small town in Scotland provides a snowy and delightful atmosphere. Interesting characters with a variety of back stories. Loved the reindeer and dog. |
Lovely Christmas book. Tom turns up in Lockton determined to remain anonymous and avoid the pain of Christmas. Meg adores Christmas! A lovely escapist read! |
Thank you NetGalley, Donna Ashcroft and Bookouture for the ARC of If Every Day Was Christmas. This is my personal review. It is that time of year to start the holiday season with a cozy holiday book and this is one to put you in the spirit of the upcoming holiday season. Donna Ashcroft has given us a wonderful book. Meg Scott loves the Christmas season and you will feel the holiday just jump off the pages as you read! A holiday book filled with romance and comedy is just what a person needs in their lives! Enjoy it as much as I did. |
When Tom is stranded with a flat tire along a quiet road on his way into Lockton, he is being rescued by an elf in a Christmas-van. Meg loves everything about Christmas and runs an all-year-round Christmas shop. She is everything Tom is not, a successful musician who turned his back to music after unfortunate events around Christmas-time, and particularly dislikes this one Christmas song. Getting ready for the town’s Christmas season, both are intended to spend Christmas in their own way, Meg away from her family in London and Tom, hiding his true identity from everyone, on his own with his dog. I loved reading this second story set in the town of Lockton, with its upcoming Christmas concert and a tree full of Christmas promises. With a sudden family visit, a hotel owner in need of help and a lost reindeer, it is a story of healing together and of kindness and forgiveness. Donna Ashcroft wrote a wonderful, cosy Christmas story! |
Oh how I love a Christmas read. This one had all the feels, who wouldn’t love to own a Christmas shop in a beautiful little village. Made me want to move there. A gorgeous love story, a wonderful back drop. A perfect read for winter to make you feel all warm & cosy inside. |

I didn’t finish this book as I had trouble relating to the story. Mainly I think because I live in Scotland so when the story mentions Apple cross, I could picture Applecross up west along with Plockton. The story refers to Lockton. Historically this area was mainly free church who didn’t celebrate Christmas. So I found it difficult to relate to story. It’s the first time I’ve read one of Donna’s books so I think it’s fair to put 3 stars as I didn’t finish it. |
This is my first novel by Donna Ashcroft, and I delighted in this fun and festive tale which was every bit as good as I'd hoped! Meg Scott runs a shop that sells Christmas themed produce all year round in Lockton, Scotland. She loves all things Christmassy, so she isn't best pleased when her argumentative family arrive threatening her high spirits. Tom Riley-Clark isn't a festive fan and doesn't realise that Lockton takes the festive frivolities very seriously when he agrees to help his friend and owner of The Apple Cross Inn. Who knows what might happen when Meg and Tom's paths cross... If Every Day Was Christmas was a wonderful, heartwarming tale set in the leadup to Christmastime. The village formed the perfect setting for the holiday season and Donna Ashcroft painted a magical picture of all of the wonderful imagery such as snow, reindeer, mince pies, elves, and a Christmas tree full of promises. The author can really craft a story and I was gently enveloped into a blanket of warmth and snugness. This was not, however, a sickly sweet tale as it also included some strong, thought-provoking themes and real-life issues, and I read this in double-quick time as I didn't want to put my Kindle down! Overall, If Every Day Was Christmas is a fabulous, spirit-lifting, festive treat that I highly recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion. |
In the little town of Lockton in Scotland, a wish hung on the Christmas tree is a promise that should be kept. “For hundreds of years, the inhabitants of Lockton make a promise to do something for the community in December” They write the wish down and hang it on the tree. This year its fix the roof on the Apple Cross Inn. Our main characters are Meg, who loves Christmas, and Tom who hates it. Meg runs a Christmas Shop, so for her, everyday really is Christmas. She never gets sick of it. Normally, she doesn’t date men who choose DIe Hard, and The Godfather as their favorite movies, over The Holiday, and It’s A Wonderful Life, but nevertheless the chemistry is there between her and Tom. And he has a secret. So does Meg’s family, who come crashing down on her, ready to spoil Christmas with their bickering. Christmas is such a big time of year, and even though every day is not Christmas, (thank goodness!) it does come once a year, and that means that adults have at least 25 of them behind them. A lot of time to build associative memories, good and bad about the holiday season, and to choose which we will focus on. Tom’s past christmases hold a lot of pain, and Meg’s past christmases have had a lot of promise. Essentially, this was a romance, about two people coming together to heal the other and the people around them, without realizing that was their intention. The characters were realistic and likeable and the story was one I enjoyed being a part of, and for me, that is what I always look for. This is a warm story, to be read by the fire with snow falling and a Christmas cocktail, and a family dinner ahead of you. This is a lovely read, with romance, relationships and a few life lessons from people who have learned to make the best out of what they have. This is just what a small town Christmas romance needs. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC. |
What a sweet cozy love story set around the holidays. I really enjoyed the characters and I read this in one sitting during a nice rainy day. I look forward to the next story by this author is a really enjoyed this one. |
Oh this book! It was so cute and cosy, that was exactly what I was looking for in a Christmas romance: a good couple, a nice storyline and a small town as a side character because of just how well constructed it was. The narrative was great, and the characters spoke to me. Tom had a lot of pain associated to Christmastime, and by getting to know Meg, he is goes through some reflecting on himself. And as for Meg, and the fact that she had trouble with her family right at the holiday season and had to deal with this, actually face them, was a very good plot point. They were opposites attract at the same time they had a connection. I mean, it was very insta-love, but it worked for me. The side characters were also very good, they weren't as explored because I guess that was the purpose on the story, they were very organic to the plot. The Christmas magic, I was all in for! There were just some points in the story I wish hadn't been there, but in general this was a very good Christmas read. And it really made me want to go to Scotland now... If this turned into a Lifetime movie, I'd definitely watch it. |
This was just a cute Christmas book. I just loved the romance. Love the small town vibe. Just whole thing. Just a sweet, Christmasy read. 3.5 stars |

This is the second book which is set in Lockton, a small village in the Scottish Highlands. It's the perfect setting for a Christmas book. It is a standalone book, which can be read without reading the first book. This is an easy and fun read, very festive. Meg runs a Christmas shop which is open all year round. She absolutely loves Christmas. This is book definitely has everything that you could ever want in a Christmas book. There were a lot of characters to remember, but it got easier as I got further into the book. Overall this is a nice, enjoyable read. Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC. |

This is the first book by Donna Ashcroft that I have read and what a lovely, festive book it is. Set in Scotland where Meg runs an all-year-round Christmas shop. Tom, who does not like Christmas, arrives to help his friend at The Apple Cross Inn. This is a feel-good book of romance and Christmas. |
