Set in a small town in Scotland, this winter romance follows Meg, a young, single girl who owns a year-round Christmas shop but is determined to spend this Christmas away from home and without any family drama, and Tom, a nomad who is passing through town to help out a friend and is holding in a big secret.

Overall, I thought this was a cute and fun holiday romance that feels a bit like a Hallmark movie (which I’m a huge fan of in December). It was a bit cheesy, the plot revolves a lot around a large tree inside of a wishing well in the center of town where people come from miles to hang ornaments with their “Christmas promises” inside. However, there were also more serious elements and topic matters, such as a secret Meg’s parents have been holding in for 15 years that has been causing their marriage to crumble, which I appreciated.

I will say that I didn’t find Meg and Tom’s relationship to be super believable. I don’t think that you need to be incredibly similar in order to have a romantic relationship but these two had absolutely nothing in common and I found them both to be a bit unlikeable. I also didn’t really think that Tom’s big “secret” was all that important, it was just a detail from his past that he didn’t want or need to tell anyone when he came into town but when Meg found out she got super upset and overreacted.

Overall, it’s a cute Christmasy story about relationships, both family and romantic, and is a good read for the holiday season!

This is my first read of Donna Ashcroft's and I loved it. It has everything you need in a Christmas story - snow, romance, glitter and even reindeer. It's a definite curl up and read kind of story - so grab a hot chocolate and tuck in.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year... A sweet holiday small-town romance featuring the Grinch and Santa’s biggest elf. Meg is all about Christmas. She even owns an all year Christmas shop in her small Scottish village. Tom is all about bah humbugg. He is in town to help out an old friend, never knowing how seriously this place takes Christmas. To further complicate things Tom is also hiding his true identity from the town, for once he wants people to like him for him. Meg also has some complications when her family arrives threatening to put a damper on her festive vibe. So will Meg fa la la la fall for Tom and make his heart grow three sizes?

Meg was such a great character with such a big heart. I loved how into Christmas she was she even wore an elf suit and tons of glitter. Tom was a little prickly, but he too had a big heart. I love the small-town setting and it was fun seeing old friends from previous books. If you are a fan of Christmas reads this is a can’t miss!

Meg Scott runs a year-round Christmas shop in the small village of Lockton, Scotland. Meg loves everything about Christmas — the ornaments, tinsel, and lights. Enter Tom Riley-Clark, the Christmas hating musician. Tom is the antithesis of Meg. Tom hates everything about Christmas, and as fate would have it, Tom gets rescued by Meg after he suffers a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. What follows are a series of touch-and-go moments that eventually lead to a possible budding romance.

If Everyday Was Christmas is a cute Christmas romance story. I found it to have a very promising start. However, there seemed to be a disconnect in the middle of the story wherein the transition into a romance between Tom and Meg seemed abrupt to me.. Other readers will probably disagree with me on this.

Overall, If Everyday Was Christmas is a cozy romance novel that will please avid fans of the romance genre. I’ve rated it three stars. I liked it.

"If Every Day was Christmas" is a delighful, heartwarming tale set in the fictional village of Lockton, in the leadup to Christmas time. The village forms the picture perfect setting for the holiday season and allows for all of the wonderful cliches such as snow, reindeer, Christmas wishes and even elves. The fact that such a cynic as myself enjoyed this tale, shows how well Donna Ashcroft can craft a story and gentle sweeps the reader into a blanket of warmth and happiness. That is not to suggest that the entire story is sugar coated from start to finish, Meg is battling to stay away from her family and have her first "alone Christmas" in the village but then receives a sudden surprise in the leadup to Christmas which derails her plans. Likewise, Tom is determined to celebrate the holiday in his own way - or rather not to celebrate at all, but this is a tale of Christmas and the reader knows that goodwill and a happy ending will prevail. By Christmas eve, peace has decended on the village and hearts are on the way to being mended.
I loved this tale, there is no other way to say it - there is Christmas, love, laughter and animals. What else could we need at this time to cheer us up? I'll be keeping an eye out for another Christmassy tale from Donna Ashcroft to keep my spirits lifted.

Set in a small village in Scotland, this book creates the perfect, magical, Christmas setting you want. The snow is falling, the mountains provide stunning views, and the villagers are all about Christmas. However, not all is that simple, and our main characters have to jump through a lot of hurdles to find their happiness.

One of our main characters is the epitome of Christmas - she's a walking, talking, glittery elf (well a human, but dressed as an elf almost 90% of the time) and owns a Christmas shop, and her love interest hates Christmas due to the past events that still haunt him today. Will they find comfort in each other? Can they change for each other? Do opposites really attract?

At times the small town/village mentality was frustrating, as characters would meddle too much into the fates of our main characters, I also found it endearing because this is a Christmas story, in which people care about each other honestly and deeply. That's what I expect from a Christmas story and I want to see in one.

The main characters go through their struggles, as well as some side characters too. We follow the development of events and come to a very expected conclusion, but a lovely one nonetheless.

If you love a good, romantic, a little bit cheesy read (bring on the cheese), this is perfect. Filled with romance and all the right Christmas feels, family time, friendliness it's going to put you in the right mood.

I absolutely loved this book. A Christmas book set in the Scottish Highlands!
The characters were lovely, I loved the small town, close knit community.
Meg was so sweet and I loved that she was even more obsessed with Christmas than I am. I loved how caring and helpful she was. I found Tom was a brooding tortured soul done right, because he had his issues but he was never rude, he was always eager to help anyone in need and he had a big heart.

This Christmas story was an absolute delight and I'd recommend it to fans of Jenny Colgan. It was simply lovely and a must read for Christmas fans.

A lovely cozy Christmas read with the most Christmas character ever Meg, with her Christmas shop were she dresses as an elf. A lovely story of complicated love.... Communication being the complication but lovely and keeps the pages turning.

Loved the descriptions of the Scottish community and all the locals have a firm place in the story and build a beautiful village community I was desperate to be a part of.

Christmas 2020 Must Read
Beautiful.

A small Scottish Highlands village is a setting for this Christmas novel. We have a Meg, owner of an all-year-round Christmas shop, and Tom who comes to the village to help a friend out. These two couldn't be more opposite regarding the holidays. I mean, Meg is dressed as an elf the first time they met, and Tom is hiding some secrets and doesn't really care about holidays.

I liked the setting of this book it is really magical. It is what would you expect out of small-town romance novels. With a lot of characters to follow. I was not invested in the romance as much as I would like.

Overall, it is a cute story. A perfect read for fans of Christmas books.

If Every Day really was Christmas then I’d probably reread this warming Christmas tale on a regular basis.

It tells the tale of Meg who runs an open all year Christmas shop in a quaint village and Tom a musician who is temporarily escaping his fame and daily life. Two single suitable people seem a good match for a Christmas romance except Tom dislikes everything festive! The story centres on the up and downs of their budding relationship and while these tales may be predictable, it didn’t distract from the warmth and your own involvement in wanting them to get together at the end but life isn’t predictable...

Every year in Lockton, the town residents each make a Christmas promise to hang on the village tree. This year Meg is confident she can keep hers, until several unexpected guests make an arrival.

I loved this stupid, romantic, squishy Christmas book so ridiculously much! This is absolutely not my genre but I loved every second of it! It was feel good and cutesy and it made me so excited for Christmas. This is definitely one for if you just need to smile.

If Every Day was Christmas is set in a small Village in Scotland, the perfect backdrop for Christmas. Meg Scott is the owner of an all-year-round Christmas shop (goals) and can often be found dressed as an elf and covered in glitter. The Scottish setting was definitely my favorite aspect of this book, particularly small town romance! There were a lot of characters to keep track of in this one and one open door romance scene but overall it was a light and fun Christmas romance!

A Romantic Tale of Mince Pies, Reindeer, and Holiday Cheer
If Every Day Was Christmas is the Hallmark Christmas story of the book world. In fact, Donna Ashcroft should probably see if Hallmark would like to adapt it to film for their fans' viewing pleasure this holiday season! The plot follows the familiar arc: two strangers cross paths in a small town, one with a deep, dark secret, and one with a fractured family past, they try to resist feelings of passion because they aren't interested in love, but end up kissing with abandon in the snow in front of the assembled townspeople. Cue happy tears and the pleasant feeling of warm contentment as one sits drinking their hot cocoa and wishing for a perfect holiday romance of their own.

The female protagonist, Meg Scott, loves Christmas because it was the one day a year her parents set aside their shared animosity and focused on giving their daughters the ideal family experience. She wears glitter for makeup, and enjoys mince pies and Christmas carols year-round in her Christmas shop...which she runs while dressed as an elf. The male protagonist, Tom Riley-Clark, on the other hand, was badly burned on Christmas day a few years prior and has come to hate the season and what it represents: the end of life as he knew it. He is dark and brooding, anti-glitter and cheer, and hates mince pies. Yet, he and Meg can't help but think they might be falling in love...their hormones and bodies certainly seem convinced of it anyway! Their love blooms slowly across the arc of the story as they grapple with what Christmas actually does represent, and what it doesn't. Thrown into the mix are two auxiliary romances, and a coming-of-age revelation for Meg's sister, Emily, who makes friends with a baby reindeer. All in all, this book screams Christmas cheer!

If Every Day Was Christmas is exactly what it presents itself as, nothing more and nothing less. It isn't particularly original or thought provoking, but it is a fun way to kick off the holiday book season, and to get ready for the aforementioned Christmas specials on the Hallmark Channel. The characters are quirky and relatable, the dialogue and plot flow smoothly, and the conclusion is just as sentimental and sweet as one would hope. If chick lit and light romances are your thing, I promise you won't be disappointed...and even if you are a bit of a Grinch (like me), it will still make you smile and chuckle.

This book is like a warm hug and.a sweet cup of cocoa. Meg is the cutest little Christmas elf working in her year-round Christmas shop. Tom is a brooding musician who's running away from the wounds of his past. He thinks he'll be safe in the small Scottish town of Lockton, but he wasn't counting on Meg.
Although Meg is sweet, she has her own family demons to face down this holiday season.
This book has a vibrant cast of characters. While it's a quick, sweet, and comforting read, it's not so saccharine that it's too fake to enjoy. It's the perfect read for this tumultuous year. I definitely recommend it.

A lovely festive christmas story. I liked that it was set in the same place as a previous book and some familiar characters pooped up.

🎀Festive, snow-covered, magical Highland Christmas of romance😌

4.5🌟stars
Donna Ashcroft brought me back to little Lockton in the Scottish Highlands for a month of pre-Christmas festive spirit and several couples who need a bit of Christmas magic. The small-town atmosphere, a wealth of idiosyncratic locals and a mysterious Christmas decorations vandal made it a cozy, fun read. I gravitate to stories set in my favorite foreign locations and the Scottish Highlands are on my short list of top spots.

A few months ago I read Evie's love story in The Little Village of New Starts and here her good friend Meg, owner of a Christmas store, begrudgingly finds herself attracted to Christmas-hating Tom. Tom has horrible memories of a Christmas not so long past when his world fell apart but he does not like sharing details about that or his former career. The way they learn to build a relationship in spite of their differences made a good, slow-build romance. And several other couples, including the town's publican and a gorgeous hotelier, and even Meg's parents, get a romantic boost as the holiday draws near.

I found If Every Day Was Christmas a warm, romantic tale and well-written. I did have a bit of difficulty keeping track of all of the minor characters but overall it's a great holiday romance.

Thanks to publishers Bookouture and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Lockton is a village set deep in the picturesque Scottish Highlands, snow falling, shops and houses filled with Christmas stuff. Every December, the people of Lockton made a pledge to do something for the community and for themselves as well. It has been kept for hundred of years and the tradition has grown. Meg Scott promised to make her first solo Christmas as she wants to get away from her family. She runs a year-round Christmas shop and loves every bit about the season. Tom Riley Clark has been called to help his friend’s bar in Lockton for the holiday, hates Christmas, hiding from his past and wary of people just seeing him for what he is not. Meg and Tom are about to find out for themselves if promises are meant to be kept without losing themselves in the process.

If Every Day Was Christmas is a feel good rom-com book. It’s about family and the importance of resolving issues within and being together. It is also about community that welcomes you, coming together and doing things for each other without asking for in return. This is a light and easy read, no heavy family drama just typical real-life issues about taking second chances in life and love.

What I like abut this is the Christmas feeling all through out the book. Christmas is a big thing in my country and it’s one of my favourite time of the year. I just don’t know how it would look like this year and this book will help you get into the Christmas mood.
