"Please tell me people who look like us can be loved."
Man. I loved this book so much. It had me laughing out loud, it made my geeky fan-fiction loving heart happy and it made my big butt happy to see romance on a page that could have been me. I'm lucky that I found love, but I honestly remember a decade ago when I was single and I was sure that I wasn't meant to be loved.
God... Just this is so good.
I love the social media influences, the popular tv show *cough*Game of Thrones*cough* and the fanfiction that the fans choose to write because they didn't like the ending that they got - or hell, even the pairings that happened. It happens in real life, it was such a good contemporary romcom. I loved it - and writing this two months later (I'm so sorry!) after I've just come back from the London ComicCon - well. My geeky heart is very happy and can tell you that this would have been amazing. It'd have loved to have seen April walk past me in her outfit :D
As always, there was communication issues - but name me a romance where that doesn't happen for at least one part of the plot. I didn't care, I was enjoying this so much. Not enough to know One to Watch off its top spot - but in my top three romcoms definitely.

This was good, I sadly didn't enjoy it as much as the hype made me anticipate it but it was still such a fun quick read!

Absolutely loved this book. Smart and funny and sexy and so clever. Loved the snippets from scripts and fanfic. Glorious heroine and lovely (kind!) love interest. My first Olivia Dade novel and now I have to read her entire backlist.

Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade was a book that I was extremely eager to read, but, sadly, I have to admit that it didn't completely meet my taste.
It was definitely not a bad book, but there were some aspects that I didn't enjoyed a lot. However, I'm happy to say that this book is very body positive and the rep here was portrayed really really well and I loved how certain matters were dealt with.

I loved this! It was an adorable, quick, romance. The characters were relatable and fun.
I loved having a plus size lead, as a plus sized woman myself being able to read about someone I could physically relate to was amazing.
I loved that the romance was so wholesome and sweet and never made April the butt of a joke for the expense of making Marcus seem ‘cooler’.
The banter between them was perfection and I can’t wait to read more.

Some books you know are going to be good as soon as you start. This was one of those books for me.
I was so nervous about starting this. I was excited to read as soon as I heard about it. A book which heavily features fandom? Not only that but has a fan and an actor dating? This had me making grabby hands at my screen for like a year. Obviously when it released I was in a total reading slump. By the time I was out of it I'd developed The Fear because what if I'd hyped it up too much in my head? Obviously I forgot this was written by Olivia Dade who is an absolute genius so of course it didn't let me down.
I will go into all of the ways I adored Marcus and April at some point soon. Both of these amazingly strong and awesome characters are what made this book a dream to read. And the secondary characters were spectacular and definitely need more page time or their own books. I don't care I just want more of these characters I really do. But for now I need to sleep so I'll review more later.
My only regret about this book is that I started reading it during the week. I should have known this was a book meant to be binge read on a Saturday while avoiding housework instead.

I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley and all options are my own.
A sweet romance with some hard hitting emotional moments that leaving you wanting more from this author immediately. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and devoured it in one sitting. It includes important themes in a realistic and sensitive way that add to the reality of the book. I would recommend this book to any fans of romance. A must read to add to anyone's TBR.

DNF - this story just didn't grab me and I'm not sure why! Maybe I was in the wrong mood. I can see all the very positive reviews and think I may need to give it another chance in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to review the book!

Both April and Marcus made me feel seen and gave me hope. It wasn't just a cute romance with a bit of angst as I had expected, it explored some important topics such as fatphobia and ableism, and it was a punch to my heart.
It was my first novel by Olivia Dade, but definitely not my last!

I have seen both positive and negative reviews for this book but I really enjoyed it. Personally I didn't care for the extracts from scripts or fanfic redactions however they don't detract from the overall story.
I really liked when Marcus and April were alone together, the steamy scenes were written well.
As well as the fun, sexy romance the book does also deal with heavier topics such as weight, body confidence, confidence in yourself and difficult family relationships. I thought they were all done incredibly well.
I'm looking forward to the sequel as I did love Alex just a wee bit 😍

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Spoiler Alert is such a lovely, unique take on the romance genre. I really enjoyed the relationship between the main characters, and how their romance blossomed throughout this book whilst also being a lot of fun and enjoyable to read.

First of all, it was so nice to read a book that featured a plus sized leading lady. It was so refreshing. I loved April . She was an amazing, confident, sexy siren. Marcus was also a brilliant character. So complex and swoon worthy. They both had their issues due to problems with their parents but it gave the characters depth. I didn't enjoy the fanfic. It didn't interest me at all. Overall, it's a very fun , sexy, easy read. I am looking forward to reading about Alex next.

I thought this book had a rather unique, interesting storyline that had me wanting to read more.
The characters are refreshing, and the subjects that this book tackles throughout added an extra depth to the story.
An enjoyable, easy read.

My feelings towards this book are conflicted. The first half was 5 stars. I was ready to add it to my favourite romances and recommend it forever. Parts of the second half were 2 stars and the ending was 3 stars
We follow April, a geologist by day and fanfic writer by night. We also follow Marcus, the actor who in one of the lead rolls on the show that April is obsessed with...who also happens to write fanfic on the same server. After a Twitter interaction they end up going on a date, as April and Marcus, not knowing that they've been messaging online for years
The entire book kind of hinges on miscommunication which I usually HATE. But in the first half I could totally see where both were coming from and why they weren't revealing everything to each other. But there came a point where Marcus 100% should have revealed something and...didn't. And that no longer made sense to me. They were being intimate by this point, and in my opinion it's then inappropriate to keep quite a big secret from your partner. Plus I just knew that this secret would create the third act drama which
I loved the beginning and how they started talking, it was so sweet. I loved their internal dialogues and the depth they had but were shy about showing. They both went on internal journeys in the first half which were rewarding. But after that...no development was made. Weird, out of character decisions were made. Nothing felt natural or how people/these characters would act
The discussions on body image were really thoroughly explored, which I appreciated. April is fat and, despite a difficult family situation, has come to accept this. Marcus is super fit, focussing on lean protein and gym sessions, partly because of his acting role and also to distract from his shyness. I really appreciated these aspects of the characters and I thought they were explored and developed well
I loved that the show that this book revolves around (GoT-esque series) is based on the Aeneid! I studied the Aeneid at uni and believe this show should be created
TW: references to disordered eating, fat shaming, unsupportive/toxic parents

I really enjoyed this book - it tackles some heavy issues in a really accessible and easy way. I loved the characters and really related to April - so much!
Looking forward to reading the second in the series!

Unfortunately I am unable to find this book on my kindle, therefore, can not read and review, however it sounds and looks incredible!

I really enjoyed this book. It was warm & fluffy, easy to read, fun, wonderfully written and just generally a great, easy read. Would recommend.

This was a cute book. I smiled a lot while reading. I requested this ARC because the cover was cute and I'm glad I did because all of the inside was cute too. It is the epitome of a fluffy romance but touches on such deep and realistic topic Marcus and April are adorable together.

I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to get into this book. I’ve read it to between 30-40% through twice and I just get bored. I don’t know how much I like or believe the characters. I want to like this so much. It’s going on my pile to come back to, hopefully I can update this with a much better and more positive review in the future.

Personally, this book was lost on me in the "fandom" category. I am sure I did not understand half of the references here but I did enjoy it! It addressed a lot of things that are important right now, and to me too. Body image issues and other things that don't really make it into romantic books like this, it's very refreshing.
Fat shaming is a real thing, well, body shaming in general is a real thing. You will love this book. It will make you feel that anything is possible !
