This 2nd volume in the EMP series finds the survivors trying to make their lives on a secluded island. When strangers in need arrive, a trip to the mainland for medical supplies puts their lives in jeopardy, and strains relationships and determination.

Hamilton's book is a post-apocalyptic tale about a group of islanders. It's well written and will keep you glued to your seat, until the end of the book. I thought the book was very believable.

This is book 2 in the Island Refuge EMP series. It can be read as a stand alone that would satisfy any doomsday reader but reading the first book will give you backstory on the characters and their struggles after a huge EMP knocks out the power, communication and transportation from their island based vineyard and winery leaving them stranded on the island.
Life has settled into a routine for Elna, her father and the guest stranded with them. With no idea how long their isolation will last, they are making the best of their limited resources when a storm pushes a sailboat onto the island's beach. A desperate father has been making his way with his son, trying to reach a medical facility for medicines. For reasons of her own, Elna will travel with the father. As they work their way to the facility, they will face many desperate situations.

Grace Hamilton is the author of many "after the end" series. I have read most of them and find them all to be well worth my precious reading time. None of her series are the same. She gives each of them interesting characters that must interact in a new normal just to stay alive as they search for basic necessities. I would recommend them to any and all readers.
