Personally I did not like the romance, it just did not work for me. the writing was okay, but I also found the characters quite meh.

Boots and Mistletoe is the first book in the Mistletoe collection. It was a sweet and light second chance romance that will leave you in a festive mood. It was short but easy to read with likable characters. I’m glad I had the chance to read it and cannot wait for the next book.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a Christmas Cowboy Romance, and this is the first book in the Mistletoe Collection series. I have to say I would not call this a romance (that is what it's said to be), but I would called it a chick-lit or women's fiction. The reason is the romance is second in this book. I am not saying this book was bad because I loved it a lot. The two character (Quinn and Jackson) that falls in love in this book meets at the beginning of the book very quickly, but then they do not meet again until 50% of the book is gone. The last 50% was about them, but the first 50% is about Quinn working a job she does not love and getting over her ex-boyfriend. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author (Edith Mackenzie) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

"Boots and Mistletoe", by Edith Mackenzie was a clean romance novel. The sweet flirtation between Quinn and Jackson is the sweetest visual. Jackson is a top professional bull rider, and he is introduced to Quinn during a photoshoot in Australia. Fate stepped in and allowed the two to meet the first time and again in Vegas.
Kelly is Quinn's best friend that allows her to travel with her to Vegas for work. Unbeknownst to Quinn, the rodeo finals are currently going on at the same time that she is in Vegas. Jackson and Quinn find each other at the rodeo, and Jackson can't get Quinn off his mind. When he needs to mentally focus on his qualifying time.
Jackson and Quinn end up spending Christmas with Jackson's family in Colorado on their ranch. Quinn has never experienced the magical, wintery Christmas. We know and love.
This was a delightful quick read so snuggle up on the couch with the fireplace on and enjoy a sweet romantic story.
Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book for review.

This was a lovely read that really pulled me in from the start.
The way in which the author has developed these characters really brings them to life in the readers mind.
The plot was so wonderful and had the perfect structure to keep you engaged and fully invested in the characters and their romance as it began to bloom.
A light hearted, romantic read that I really enjoyed!.

Truly enjoyed this book! Love watching bull riding and to read about a bull rider was fun. The author did a great job developing the characters and I found myself liking Quinn and Jackson and pulling for them to get end up together. Happy she got rid of the jealous boyfriend! I want to go back and read the first book in this series where Luciano had his HEA. Great story and characters, heartwarming. Kind of wish I had waited to read in the winter during the holidays!

Jackson and Quinn will get you in the holiday spirit. A wholesome read that is entertaining and sweet. These two were adorable together. This is a new to me author. And I can say I’d read a lot more from her.

If you are looking for a Christmas novel that will make you feel good all over then I have the book for you. Cowboy Boots and Mistletoe is the first book in The Mistletoe Collection and I cant wait to read the next one. Quinn and her friend Kelly live in Australia. There is a rodeo taking place there and Kelly needs some help with a promo shoot. She convinces her friend Quinn to help her with it. Quinn is not too keen at first, but then she sees and meets Jackson the handsome rodeo cowboy from Colorado. It was a quick, fun meeting but after the rodeo they go their separate ways. Quinn and Jackson cannot stop thinking about each other and wonder if they will ever meet again. Quinn and Kelly are now working in Las Vegas and the rodeo brings Jackson there. They meet again and those feelings between the two are present again. The holidays are approaching, and Jackson wonders if Quinn would give up the city for life with a rancher. The stockings are hanging and the trees are all aglow but will his boots find love under the mistletoe?

Boots & Mistletoe (The Mistletoe Collection: Book 1) is the first and most likely the last book I read written by Edith MacKenzie. Sadly it is not at all what I expected. It is women’s fiction with a heavy dose of romance after the halfway mark. That is fine with me.

However, it was stated to be a clean story. It is cleanish, I guess. There are not open door bedroom scenes but the main character takes a questionable job based on her best friend. What is to be an assistant position is nothing more than a hostess at big LV casino for the “high-rollers”. Not a job she envisioned or one she enjoys. Her boss tells her, “As long as it isn’t illegal or completely immoral, which can be a bit of a gray area. I expect you to arrange, organize, or do whatever he requests. Do I make myself clear?” This is not a job I would want or would want a daughter to have but yet she goes right along with it especially since some of the clients give her expensive gifts..

My other problem with the story is the main female character Quinn and her best friends seem to be very shallow, materialistic women. I like Jackson, the male main character, and his family much better. Not at the holidays so much as all the time. Perhaps others can identify with them but I could not. It is rare that I request a book that I do not like but it has happened with Boots & Mistletoe. Perhaps others will see Quinn and Kelly differently than I did, maybe someone with more urban taste.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

4.5/5
*May contain mild spoilers*

When PR girl Kelly ends up a model down on a photo shoot with two Colorado cowboys, she calls on friend Quinn. Following a night at the Rodeo, Quinn’s brief time with Jackson comes to a halt when overbearing boyfriend Lance shows up and ruins their fun. Seven months later Kelly and now single Quinn find themselves leaving their hometown in Australia and taking on new roles in PR and hostessesing at a casino in Las Vegas. Nearly a year since they met on the photo shoot Quinn and Jacksons paths cross again. Will their romance be just for the holidays? or will they get second chance at love?

Well, this book was a rather lovely surprise. I am new to the romance genre but I discovered the joy of cowboy Christmas romance last year, so I snapped this up when I saw it and I am so glad I did. This was the cutest love story I have read in a while. Its short so it didn’t take me long to read but over a couple of days at the end of September it was the perfect introduction to this seasons Christmas books.

We open this book in Australia with Quinn meeting cowboy Jackson whilst on a photoshoot. Jackson is from Colorado and in the country for a rodeo. Following the shoot, they have brief amount of time together where its obvious that they like each other and want to get to know each other. This is rather sadly interrupted by Quinn’s boyfriend Lance. He is controlling, overbearing and actually gets physical with Quinn at one stage which I think it important to mention. I really appreciated Quinn’s friend Kelly being very honest regarding her distaste of Lance. He isn’t in the book for long but long enough to know he’s not a nice man.

We then skip forward to Kelly and Quinn starting work at a casino in Vegas and I was surprised because the majority of the book takes place here without Jackson being present. It’s extremely cute though as throughout those months Quinn constantly thinks about Jackson and what might have been. It could be classed as a tad insta lovey but it’s more a case of a lingering question in Quinn’s mind as to whether something could have happened. Working at the casino brings lots of challenges for Quinn, none more so than awful Markus…possibly worse than Lance? He’s pretty darn horrid.

The love story between Quinn and Jackson was so wholesome and pure and I just adored it. Its billed as a clean romance and it really is. The most we see the characters do is kiss. They spend a week together following their paths crossing when Jackson comes to Vegas for a rodeo. Their connection is instant, and they spend a lot of time together during this period doing some Christmas activities Vegas style. I really enjoyed seeing Quinn going to the rodeos to watch Jackson and how he gave his best performances when she was there. If I am honest, I didn’t even know rodeos were a real thing let alone a competitive sport that people do full time so that was pretty cool.

Let’s talk about my favourite part of this book, the last third where Quinn visits Colorado for Christmas, I just loved this! I have always wanted to visit Colorado, so it was great that it was set there. Jackson comes from a large family which was lovely, I always enjoy books where characters are family orientated and come from big families. Its even more fun when you get to see inside those family Christmases and that’s exactly what we get here. Jacksons family were so sweet and welcoming to Quinn. She fitted in so well, getting stuck in to ranch life and their time together just solidified their relationship. It just felt like a depiction of the most perfect family Christmas. It’s also worth mentioning here that Quinn’s family seemed lovely too. We didn’t see much of them, but we do see how they spend Christmas day at the start of the book and being in Australia it is quite different to Jacksons.

Jackson as a character is the perfect balance of rugged cowboy with the biggest heart whilst Quinn is so lovely but not incapable of looking after herself and bringing a little bit of sass. The complimented each other so well. I also feel like I need to mention the romance that may just overshadow our main characters in the form of Quinn’s pregnant cat and Jacksons dog…by gosh it was the sweetest.

This book was just one of the sweetest romances I have read it a long time. It had two adorable characters with adorable pets! They had a quick but natural feeling love story where they just knew they were meant to be. I adored watching them spending Christmas together and the time spent on Jacksons family ranch with his huge family was so festive. It was a quick read so I would say it’s perfect to read in one afternoon or on a winters evening as Christmas approaches maybe with a candle and a hot chocolate. I am really looking forward to reading Kelly’s story in the next book where she will be celebrating in Bora Bora so it will be a sun filled Christmas. I was also pleased to see Edith MacKenzie has quite a few backlist titles that I would like to head to at some point.

This book starts in Australia and ends in Colorado with Las Vegas in between. The story is of a girl meets boy. It’s an easy to read book but perhaps slightly slow moving and I would have liked to have seen some of the plot lines expanded.

If you like Vegas & Rodeos then this is the book for you! Quinn & Jackson seemed to be in the wrong place wrong time the first time they met , but the second time hopefully they could rekindle their first kiss!

This is a good clean romance that is very predictable that misses some good opportunities to grow the plot, but I don’t think the author ever got past that certain level of just keeping it super nice. There is nice, but there is other ways to spark it up as well.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

Quinn Williamson has a great life as a PR Assistant and a relationship with a wealthy boyfriend, or does she? After spending a short time with professional bull rider Jackson Gregory from Colorado and being humiliated by her boyfriend afterwards, Quinn experiences the wrath of a man who has been thwarted in having his wishes obeyed. A relocation to a different country along with a new job removes her from the horrible situation she finds herself in but lands her in a position of catering to a man with enough money to give him the belief he owns her. A semi chance meeting with the bull rider she had spent time with before her relocation has her yearning for a deeper connection far away from the bright lights and busy life she has in her current job. Will Quinn be able to squash the control of the man who thinks he owns her and fully embrace the life she really wants?
The publisher has graciously allowed the opportunity to read this novel and write a review.
The characters caught my interest quickly, as did the plot of the story. I love the Christmas movies on Hallmark and a movie based on this novel would be great addition. The descriptions of the scenery and the locations made me feel like I was there, and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I could sense Quinn’s love for the holiday as well in Mackenzie’s weaving of the story that was centered around Quinn missing her family at a special time of year and spending the holiday at a ranch in Colorado with Jackson and his family.
You will have to read Boots & Mistletoe to find out how this story turns out!

A last-minute job and favour to her friend lead Quinn to meet cowboy Jackson at a photoshoot in Australia just before Christmas. They chat about how different their Christmases are with Jackson from Colorado and used to lots of snow, whereas Quinn will be enjoying the sun and a BBQ come Christmas Day. Inviting her along to the rodeo to see him in action she enjoys her first experience of a rodeo. However, as she heads to the after party her possessive boyfriend makes an appearance, belittling her and slapping her in the car park. Despite Jackson coming to her aid, she opts to leave with her boyfriend.

Fast forward a few months and Quinn is now in Las Vegas with her friend working in a casino. After leaving her boyfriend and Austraila behind she is adjusting to her new job with demanding clients. A visit to the rodeo when it comes into town and she is once again reconnected with Jackson. They have both thought about each other in the time apart and maybe now is their chance at romance.

A feel-good festive romance that will leave you longing to visit a ranch in the snow.

I really liked the writing style of this book. I will definitely pick up another of Edith McKenzie's books. The romance in this was really sweet and heartfelt. Where it fell down for me sadly was that nothing really happened. The couple met, fell in love, stayed together the end. There was no drama or pizzas. There was a really big chunk of the book that was just following Quinn around at her job with clients who literally had nothing to do with the larger plot of the book. I really enjoyed the tension and the drama of the parts with Markus and was really hoping that something would happen with that to raise the stakes of the book but nothing did and all his dramatics and threats seemed to peter out without any repercussions. Definitely not my favourite read but there were elements I enjoyed.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me with an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is not my usual genre,  however I wanted to take the opportunity to read something from outside my norm. And I am glad I did!! Thank you for  opening up my mind to something totally different. Characters were so well developed that I felt as though I knew them. I love when a book draws you into the story and it feels like you are living it with them.
