Love Rumi’s work as always. These collections were much different from her other work’s I’ve read. Almost as if there is growth developed by the writer. I really related with many of the words spoken to me. I look forward to the final publication! |
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader's Copy! Now available. By turns emotive, seductive and elusive, Rumi's love poems or ghazals have long been used in different forms to create a sense of romance between two partners. This collection, skillfully translated by Nader Kalili, is no different. I spent a wonderful afternoon just reading and reflecting on the words, the intricate structures and just gazing at the beautiful illustrations that accompany the text. A great time! |
The Love Poems of Rumi: Translated by Nader Khalili by Rumi My rating: 2 of 5 stars I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review. I have been a fan of Rumi ever since I was introduced to his work 6 years ago when I was planning my wedding. I was researching quotes and poems and came across Rumi's work over and over again, consistently wonderful quotes and poems. So when I saw this available as an ARC, i jumped at the chance to get my hands on it. The pages themselves are simply beautiful and are worthy of being framed. It is a gorgeous book - however, the poems were not what I was expecting of Rumi's work as I know it. I know not every work a Poet writes is going to be for everyone - so there is probably something in here for everyone. My favorite of this group of poems is "If you seek eternity". I still adore Rumi - this book doesn't change that |

The Love poems of Persian mystic poet Rumi is a lovely contemplative book full of short but very impactful poems on the spiritual side of love. They are best read slowly and over time to allow yourself to digest them and contemplate their meaning. The colourfully patterned pages enhance the book and encourage you to spend time with each poem. This is a book to be kept on the bedside table and dipped into often. A very good translation and selection of poems. |

It is always a pleasure to read Rumi's poetry. These poems are quite straight forward and don't seem to have the greater hidden meaning that Rumi's poems are well known for. However I enjoyed the simplicity, and the short succinct manner in which the poems are delivered. The visuals and the colourful borders are an additional bonus and I would recommend it for all poetry fans to read it ! |
I keep hearing about Rumi’s poetry, but I haven’t had the chance to pick up one of his poetry collections yet. And of course, I’m a romantic at heart so, I’m all about love poetry. So, this book was my introduction to Rumi’s poetry. First, I want to talk about the book itself, the publishing house paid a lot of attention to details. Each page is beautiful. The collection is divided into two parts, the first one is called “Dancing the Flame” and contains short poems that are no longer than 10 lines. On the other, the last part, “Foutain of Fire” contains longer poems which I wasn’t really a big fan of. I preferred his short poems which resonated with me much more. Overall, I liked this collection and enjoy the first part. Although, I found some poems were weirdly worded, I don’t know if it was a translation issue or something else, but it didn’t sound natural to me. |
I love the poetry of Rumi . This book spoke to my soul . I see little sayings by Rumi all the time and it's like everyone of them speak on an experience I've had in my life. Very well written and to understand. All literature lovers must read . Rumi is one of my top favorite. |

Cheesy, and the language was too flowery for me. Maybe I’m too cynical to appreciate love poems. The edition was beautifully illustrated though. |
I have previously read 'the spiritual poems of rumi' within this book series. This book follows the same format, and exactly the same introduction. In the introduction of this book the author explains that Rumi's poems are from the 1200's. I just can't believe that words written so long ago can still be so relevant and beautiful today! It's amazing! The main thing I didn't like was the imagery and illustrations. They were far too bright for me, and actually made it quite difficult to read the text at times because they were so distracting and lary! I found it far too 'busy' and very generic. I would have liked more variety in the images, as they became quite repetitive. I felt that with such powerful imagery within the writing, it would have been easy to draw upon this to create some beautiful illustrations to go with them. Just like the previous book I have read, I found the actual words of Rumi incredibly fascinating and really heartfelt. I could relate to so many. |
I read The Spiritual Poems of Rumi (another translation from Khalili), but this collection felt more spiritual. It spoke more to me. I definitely would like to have them both in the future. |
I recieved this as an ARC through NetGalley but all opinions are my own. I really enjoyed reading this poetry collection. Each individual poem has it's own charm, but relate to eachother in a sort of living, breathing harmony. Rumi is exceptionally talented at portraying utter devotion to his subject. It made me want to go confess my love to someone. The majority of these poems are short, but impactful. I have a particular love for the imagery used in Classical poetry and so I enjoyed the poems where this was used the most. Rumi is skilled at knowing where this is appropriate to be used, and thus his poems are not overly flowery. To the best of my knowledge, the translation is well done. I read this collection over the course of several days, and I found that the poems began to get a little repetitive, hence why I have only given this review 4/5. I appreciate the validity of repetition in poetry but this got a little samey and I wished there had been a little more variety. Overall, this is a very solid collection of Rumi's work. I particularly liked 'Dawn Again and Morning' and the 'Love Is' series. I would like to explore some more of Rumi's work in the future. |
Name: Love Poems of Rumi Author: Rumi, Nadir Khalili (Translator) Genre: Poetry, Love Rating: 4.8 Review: This is a collection of translated poetries, originally written in by a court poet, Jalaluddin Rumi. This book contains all the love poems of Rumi. Rumi is considered as the greatest Persian mystic poet. Each poetry is unique and interesting. I found the poetries delightful and intricate, lyrical and touching. His writing style totally mesmerizes the mind of the readers. The translator has done amazing job of capturing the poet's sentiment in in this book. |
Unfortunately, I was unable to download this title. I have read other works by Rumi and found them to be wonderful. I believe that this title probably is as well. I will not post this review to my blog as I was unable to access the book. |
I was so excited to receive a copy of this book. I have always loved Rumi's poems and this was a wonderful compilation of his poems. I would love to get this in a print copy to keep as a coffee table book and flip through every once in a while. Highly recommend! |
Such a delight this book is! In Rumi's trademark style, there is joyfulness and musicality filling every page. Beautifully translated by Nader Khalili in a modern fashion, these poems reveal so much: lessons and pieces of advice, reasons to keep your hopes up, reasons to keep going and so much more. Every poem speaks to you on a personal level. This is that kind of book that you keep close, open it from time to time and receive the sign you've been asking for. Perfect for lovers, single people, people interested in spirituality (as there are mentions of God since the poet was a mystic), really perfect for anyone to enjoy his words. This edition has a lovely, colorful graphic, transporting the reader a little into Rumi's World. An enchanting book to have, to give and to cherish, I highly recommend it! I received an free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion |
An absolutely beautiful book of poems - both physically with the illustrations and also Rumi's words. There's 120 poems which is a solid amount - it would be a beautiful addition to any collection. Brings to light the different beauties of love. * ARC in exchange for an honest review*. |

This is my first experience from Rumi, so when I saw this book here. I didn't give it a second thought. And I am glad I read it. Full of emotions, thoroughly romantic, I would suggest it to any poetry lover as well as to a sucker of romance. I liked the work of the translator. the whole experience was amazing |
The Love Poems of Rumi, translated by Nader Khalili, is a beautifully illustrated and timeless collection that ruminates on the nature of love and all of its guises. This edition would be a treasured addition to any home library, and is sure to be one that readers will return to time and again as a touchstone of sorts, while navigating their own resplendent life. Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Wellfleet Press for the opportunity to read this ARC. |
This beautiful collection of poems by Rumi capture the spiritual essence of love. Freedom, ecstasy, self-love, and purity, colour and code each poem with words and thoughts that speak to the depths of heart and soul. Hopeless romantics and lovers will find solace in these poems which bring to light the multi-dimensional beauty of love. The translations by Nader Khalili bring out a richer symbolism from the poems compared to other translations. Believe me when I say you will bookmark and revisit many of these poems time and time again. |
This is not my favourite Rumi; reading it felt strange and bizarre. In this book, Rumi's beautiful poetry and proses are lost in translation. They hit differently but not in a good way. Thank you to Netgalley & Wellfleet Press for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. |
