Another excellent book by Cara Hunter that I couldn't put down! This book features D.I. Adam Fawley with his fellow policemen who investigate the accusation of sexual abuse of a male student by a woman professor. He also finds that a man that he put in prison who protested his innocence for rape and murder, named the Roadside Rapist, is being released and causes great concern to Fawley and his wife Alex. |
Two different cases and loads going on with DI Adam Fawley and the team this is a book choc full of twists and turns and it was an excellent read. Cara Hunter really has a fantastic way with words she draws you in from the very start of every book this one being no exception and the pace never lets up. A police procedural with some great characters that I really like especially as we learn more about them in every book and that makes these books special for me, I also see there is to be a tv series going to be made of the series and I really can’t wait for that I’m sure it will be fabulous and just who on earth is going to be cast as Fawley. So truth and lies, murder, stalking oh it’s all going on and I’m not saying anything more in my option you should just pick up the book and read it it’s all you want from a great story that will leave you gasping for more, roll on the next in the series please and a massive thanks to Cara Hunter for a wonderful read. My thanks also to NetGalley and Penguin UK for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. |

Adam Fawley and the the team are back solving cases. The book starts out with the team trying to solve an alleged sexual assault, but towards the middle of the book, someone close to Fawley is murdered. Is Adam Fawley as innocent as everyone thinks? The book, as always, went above and beyond in the way that the story is told, with the newspaper cut outs, blog posts and group chats. It really does make you feel that you are part of the investigation.l. I had no idea who the suspect was, despite Cara leaving a huge clue. This book has me reading until the early hours of the morning. |
This is a case of it has to be me and not you. this book is loved by over 300 people on goodreads but for me i was bored. I liked that it took abuse from a male to female role and swapped it to a female against male but the rest of the story bored me. I think because this is actually book 5 in a series iw ould love the story more if i read it at the very 1st book and got to book 5. I picked it up because i was told it is a standalone and truly it is i just wasnt engaged. . |
Well this is the first book I have read by Cara Hunter and I'm not sure why! This had me hooked from page 1. So much going on I found it really hard to put down. This is the fifth in the series of DI Fawley but it didn't seem to matter that I hadn't read the other four( although I have purchased 2 now) Fawley's tram are working on a case of sexual assault. Fawley's wife is 35 weeks pregnant and thinks she is being watched by the man who assaulted her many years ago who has been released from prison. Someone is murdered and Fawley is being set up. I loved the way the cases were interwoven. I thought the ending was a little rushed with some unanswered questions but maybe they are answered in the next book. Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin for the ARC. Highly recommend |
Excellent read. This is a great series, but that said this works perfectly as a stand alone too Two main plots, a brilliant twist on the previous story with great developments in the subplot and characters and an interesting look at a sexual assault case, again with a great twist. The style of writing makes it all the more interesting as the main story is interspersed with news clips, Twitter feeds and WhatsApp messages about the plot, at times you really feel you’re part of a “local case”. Brilliantly executed, I stayed up late to finish this. Another great addition to this already great series |

A young male student and his attractive female Professor. One of them reports a rape but who is really telling the truth! DI Adam Fawley and his team have to try and keep the reputations of both of them. However, someone is out to stop DI Fawley and stop him for good. This book twists and turns and then surprises you at the end. Couldn't put it down! |
A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |
I really enjoyed this book. There was more than one story going on and once again the way it was written kept you turning the page!! Cara Hunter writes fabulously the way the story keeps you hooked. Adam and Alex Fawley have had tragedy in their lives. He is a DCI and his wife is a heavily pregnant lawyer. DI Fawley has a good team that he works with. They managed to put away the Roadside Rapist, however he is now out on license. The threats made in court many years ago are coming back to haunt him and his wife. Their secret is safe between themselves. DI Fawley’s new case is the sexual assault against a 6’ 2’ male rugby player but all doesn’t seem right. The accused is a female Oxford Professor. Someone is lying and it is upto him and his team to dig deeper and find who is telling the whole truth. There are twists and turns right through this book and I have to say a jaw dropping finish. Looking forward to seeing this on tv as the rights have been purchased and very well deserved success to for Cars Hunter. But it if you like fast paced page turners. |
Where do I even start?! This was so epically good! I just love it when a story is told through different formats, maps, personal chats, news-headlines, twitter-feeds, medical reports, police reports, interview recordings, podcasts, and what not! I think this takes the reading experience to a whole new level, makes things look more plausible, and it's so rare to come across such, especially in thrillers, and did I mention I love it?! And what's really, really great is the attention to details, all those different formats and yet everything is just perfect, like, seriously! Two different investigations are going on in this one (score!), in just under 250 pages, and both of them equally well-done! How often does that happen?! Also, this book broke the shock capacity for me, I was reading with eyes as big as dishes, lol! All the characters were consistent with their distinct personalities, and I just love this team! I've been shouting from the rooftops since long how super-good this series is! It is one of the only two thriller series that I've been following religiously since book one and I'm yet to be disappointed. Truly, honestly thankful to the author for this series. If you like thrillers and well-done police procedurals, and you haven’t picked up this series yet, you are doing yourself a disfavour. Recommended one hundred percent! Thanks to #netgalley, @carahunterauthor and publishers for the eARC of #TheWholeTruth. All opinions are my own. Pub date Feb, 25th. |

A student accuses a tutor of sexual harassment but in this case the accused is a female tutor. Plus Fawley’s wife fears repercussions from a recently released prisoner. A fast paced tale with interesting characters |

What a fabulous read! 2 separate incidents, one a sexual assault and the other a murder. Both unrelated and both gripping right to the last page. Written beautifully and in such a tantalising way, dropping clues like breadcrumbs in Hansel and Gretel but following them.doesnt necessarily take you in the right direction. Kept me guessing to the end. The perfect crime mystery! |

Sexual assault, revenge, lies, deceit, and half truths. 'The best way to get away with a lie is to wrap it up in a whole lot of truth'.. An entertaining, page turner of a tale. Lots if characters bringing different sparks and emotions to the story. A perfect story for a cold winters evening. |
The 5th in the Adam Farley book, however would work as a stand-alone as Cara gives a detailed breakdown of the characters at the start. I have loved all of the books in this series but felt this one was not the best. At times it felt disjointed and almost as if it had been written in a slightly different style. However having said that it needs to be remembered that this book was completed during the 1st UK lockdown and everyone was feeling unsettled and out of sorts so the fact Cara has completed this book is amazing and perhaps a little understandable that it’s not quite the same as her previous books. Adam and his team are investigating a sexual assault claim against a male student at a prestigious Oxford college when a young woman is found a two the bottom of a railway bridge. The team begin to investigate both incidents. The story flits from the investigations into both from various characters view points and also Adams wife Alex’s point of view as the investigation takes a dramatic turn. The ending definitely leaves way for the next in the series and I cannot wait for it to be released. I read this book on a kindle and unfortunately some of the picture images of mobile phone conversations, podcasts etc were unreadable luckily this didn’t distract too much from the story Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book |
This maybe the best book in the DI Adam Fawley series so far! And that is a big call as they are all fantastic books. I could not turn the pages quick enough, I had to know what was going to happen and how it would all play out....no spoilers but you don't want to miss this one. There is so much going on in The Whole Truth. We have a claim from an Oxford student of sexual assault by a professor - a case like none you have seen before. At the same time Adam and his wife are dealing with their past coming back to haunt them. It is twisty and unpredictable and Adam certainly has his work cut out for him this time. Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy of this book to read. |

The latest installment of the DI Adam Fawley series, 'The Whole Truth' is just as thrilling as all the others. While I don't think you need to have read the other books you would get more from the relationships of the characters if you had read the previous four books. Cara Hunter is brilliant at creating fast paced thrillers with twists and turns that you never see coming. There are two cases going on at the same time, the first a seemingly straightforward sexual assault case and the other is a suicide. The sexual assault is a really interesting play on the he said/she said situation you normally read, this time the assault victim is the male student of a very beautiful academic who is the darling of Oxford Uni. As with all of Hunters books the situation is never quite what it seems at first. I could not put this book down it was fast paced and incredibly well written. I loved the mix of text, WhatsApp messages between characters as well as evidence within the novel. It was really good to read the progression of the other characters involved in the case that fans of Hunter will be familiar with. I was really pleased to hear that the characters will be bought to life on screen in the future as I think they'll be must see television. I look forward to reading the next installment. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3781103837 |
Full of twists and turns, The Whole Truth tells the stories of two crimes, intertwined into one investigation. A lecturer accused of sexual assault of a student - but is everything what it seems? And when all the evidence points to DI Adam Fawley at a crime scene, is he really as innocent as he says he is? There's a lot going on in these pages and it kept me questioning everything until the epilogue! |

This is book 5 in the Adam Fawley series, and just to be upfront, I am a huge fan of this series and have read all of the others! You can read this book as a stand-alone, but it does add a bit of depth to the book if you have read the previous books and know a bit of the backstory of each of the characters. The main story is concerned with an accusation of sexual assault. Marina Fisher is a high-profile professor at Oxford, a high-flier known for her influence and Ted talks. Caleb Morgan is one of her students, who also occasionally babysits Marina’s son. After a boozy celebratory night at the university, the police receives an allegation of sexual assault... but it’s been made by Caleb against Marina. The police begin to investigate, hindered by social media, the press, and influential families, and a rising storm on social media - but who is telling the truth? A good twist on the usual he said / she said take, this is definitely worth a read. The subplots in the story are also good and move the overriding story arcs along, mainly involving old cases coming back to haunt the team through the medium of a true crime podcast. A great read, and a great entry in the series! This can be read alone but I would recommend the series as I’m enjoying it very much so far! I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. |
Amazing! Cara always delivers and this story was brilliant. It had me wanting to keep going to see what would come next. Very easy to get into and loved it all. Very surprised by the ending |
4.5 Stars This felt like a cross between The Bill and Broadchurch with a little Criminal Minds vibe, and I loved every bit of it! There are two storylines in this story. At first, I was a little doubtful about whether Cara would be able to pull it off well, but my goodness did she do it justice. The two cases in question are an alleged sexual assault of a male graduate student by his female professor and the murder of a young woman found on the tracks. It took me a little while to fully get into the story but only because I was unfamiliar with the characters since this is the first book of the series I am reading. There is a quick summary of the police characters at the start of the book which I thought was excellent. If like me, you are new to the series or have forgotten them from previous books, you will appreciate it. Cara's writing style is thoroughly engaging and captivates you in a way that you are unable to tear yourself away from the pages. The story features one of my favourite elements which is a podcast. The true-crime podcast, coupled with the mixed media elements adds a layer of realisticity to the story. The story starts a little slow, but it lays the foundation well for the second half where it really picks up. I would have loved to have more page time with the Fawley's at the end, but the ending was satisfying nonetheless. If you enjoy fast-paced police procedural/mystery novels with twists turns throughout, you will likely love this one. |
