Learn about the life of inspirational Captain Tom. During the pandemic, the then 99 year old walked 100 laps of his garden and raised millions of pounds for the NHS. This book lays out his amazing life in the first 99 years of his life before Covid struck the world. He was born in Yorkshire in 1920 and developed a passion for engines. During World War II, Tom joins the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment. He fights in India and earns the title of Captain. You can use Captain Tom Moore in the classroom to discuss the positive side of the global pandemic, determination, resilience, and inspiration.

A delightful keepsake book to tell the story of a very different world we've found ourselves in. Very accessible for children just like the rest of this tremendous series exploring the lives of special people.

Another wonderful offering from the Little People Big Dreams. I don't think there will be many children who haven't heard about Captain Sir Tom Moore over the past year, and this is a great little introduction to his life before his mammoth fundraising effort walking laps of his garden.
I know Tom Moore has inspired many young fundraisers and this bright, accessible biography is a great place to learn more about him.

A great book outlining his life with accompanying illustrations and a summary history of his life so far at the end. Perfect to read with young children. Thank you to Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, Net Galley and Quarto Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I adore the Little People, Big Dreams series and have loved learning about lots of different people over the course of the series. However, Captain Tom Moore is definitely my favourite! His story is just so touching, especially after the year we're having, and it's just lovely to see him getting the recognition he deserves. This is such a sweet book, and the illustrations are brilliant.

Captain Tom Moore is the epitome of "Little People, Big Dreams". His story shows that you don't need to be a brainy inventor or a great artist to make a difference to the world. It also shows that something that started "little" can turn into something really BIG! 30 Million Pounds did Tom Moore raise this spring, that really is incredible. I wish him lots and lots more of his daily walks.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This little one here is about Captain Tom Moore, the famous veteran who raised over £30 million for the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic. His story is extremely inspiring because he is a brave and determined man. At the age of 100, he has marched in order to raise money for those in need. Such a great example!

The exceptional Little People, BIG DREAMS series prides itself on providing child-friendly biographies of renowned public figures and celebrities and in this, the fifty-first book in the series, we explore the life and times of lockdown hero and the man who captured the hearts of the nation, Captain Tom Moore. This potted biography runs from his birth and early years in Yorkshire through to being called up to fight for his country and on to the 100 laps of his garden to raise much-needed funds for the NHS as the pandemic hit. Captain Tom Moore is an inspiration and a modest, decent, charming man with a can-do attitude and a twinkle in his eye. His story is an important one with a great message for youngsters, and the young at heart, to receive.

What's superb is there is just enough to enable a child to become curious yet not enough to overwhelm, which is crucial at this stage in their reading career, and the colourful, fun illustrations by Christophe Jacques complement the text perfectly. I feel strongly that children should learn about the importance of having dreams and striving to achieve in life and that is the message the book gives out. Adults will enjoy reading this alongside youngsters and learning together makes it all the more fun. It's a wonderfully engaging and simple to understand book that helps kids with literacy and fosters a message about the enjoyment of reading. You simply cannot go wrong with this series in general as everything is executed perfectly and tailored beautifully to youngsters.

I can not recommend each of these books highly enough and there is more than enough variety in the people they choose to cover to appeal to all manner of young ones. Simply superb. Many thanks to Frances Lincoln Children's Books for an ARC.

this is delightful series that introduces young children to some amazing role models that have helped our world. This is about the hero of 2020, Captain Sir Tom Moore, who raised over £30 million for charities in the year he celebrated his one hundredth birthday. He is an inspiration and I am so glad that children can learn about him and his earlier life.

This is another great book to add to the Little People, Big Dreams collection!

I love this series as they are perfect introductions to young people about some of the most famous and influential people from our past and present and are also a reminder about how these people have also changed our history, Captain Tom Moore was unknown until the Covid-19 outbreak happened in the UK and we went into lockdown and his fundraising for the NHS came to light. This book was a great introduction to him and his life..

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended and can't wait for my daughter to get involved in the series

This is another brilliant and well deserved addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series and a perfect example of someone setting out to make a small contribution in life but making a massive impact. Captain Tom Moore is an inspiration to us all. As we have all come to expect from this series, the illustrations are stunning. A great addition to any bookshelf!
