The Betrayal's a classic domestic thriller that held my interest, however it wasn't a stand out read. The main plot was unfortunately obvious and the side plots didn't have enough depth, making them seem slightly pointless. However, it is an easy, engaging read.

Okay wow, I definitely pulled "just one more chapter" line with this one. I couldn't put it down. The drama was so intense and the book was perfectly paced. I really liked the writing style and I will definitely read more from this author. This is the perfect read for anyone just needing a good thriller or quick read.

On her 62nd birthday. Olivia woke happy and secure in her marriage to Richard. Both had great jobs, a beautiful home and a grown daughter. Olivia's day at the office started as normal, but that all changed when she read an email from an anonymous sender. It showed a video of her husband Richard in bed with a young blonde woman. Olivia was devastated and decided to confront Richard and throw him out. Then the last thing that Olivia could imagine happened - the young blonde in the video was murdered and Olivia was the number one suspect.
This thriller flows well, but the middle gets a little slow. It does build up again towards the end and does keep the reader entertained.
I thank Netgalley, the publisher and author for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book , pretty much straight into it when I picked it up . Olivia , a lawyer is very distressed to receive a video of her husband with another woman , she realizes she has been gullible throughout their marriage and kicks her philandering husband out of the house . Imagine her surprise when she is then arrested for the murder of his lover , she protests her innocence and her lawyer and his private investigator work tirelessly to prove she is being framed . I did work out the twist but it certainly didn't detract from my enjoyment .
Brilliant

Olivia Sinclair is living a happy life - she's coming to the end of a successful career as a divorce attorney, looking forward to spending more time with her long-term husband and daughter; plus it's her birthday! Things couldn't be going better... Until she receives a video from an unknown sender showing her husband sleeping with a younger woman. Her perfectly constructed life comes crashing down, hurtling her even further when she's abruptly arrested for the murder of her husband's mistress...

I LOVE a classic 'whodunnit' style mystery and The Betrayal definitely doesn't let you down! This fast-paced, highly detailed narrative takes the reader on a whirlwind from beginning to end. The story explores all angles from a variety of the characters, allowing you to see all aspects of the mystery, creating a well rounded, fleshed out tale. The character development is perfect - to the point that even the slightly more background characters such as Inspector Bailey or Denny, still have a detailed backstory and just enough involvement that makes you desperate to want to know more about them.

My only minor gripe with this book was that the big reveal felt a little bit too rushed. Although I love when a book doesn't leave any unanswered questions or loose threads, everything tied together a little bit TOO neatly. The big 'aha I'll admit everything' moment didn't suit how it had been previously built up because until then it was crafted so delicately and subtly that I wasn't expecting such a quick confession. I would have loved a little more time spent on the 'reveal' and less time on the full conclusion after the reveal because some of the final plot points didn't need the additional time spent at the expense of an easy confession.

Terry Lynn Thomas is clearly a great writer - she builds the tension consistently; keeping it bubbling under the surface and there's always something waiting to happen, which is why this book is SO hard to put down. It's a really easy, juicy, exciting read - so if you love a mystery as much as I do, then it's definitely worth checking out.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that this was the first in a series of Olivia Sinclair books and I can't wait to see what other characters or plot points return in the oncoming books. I'll remain a firm fan, and definitely won't be 'betraying' this author or series anytime soon!

Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for my advanced reader copy! 💕

I was hooked by the premise of this book, and I love a good domestic thriller. However, I just could not get into it. The writing felt a little clunky and the way the perspectives suddenly jumped around made me lose interest. I think if the characters were given a little more depth and the narration smoothed out, it might have held my attention better.

Book Review: The Betrayal: Olivia Sinclair series, Book 1 by author, Terry Lynn Thomas (ARC)
Expected Release~ October 28, 2020

Betrayal: A violation of a person's trust or confidence, of a moral standard, etc.

USA Today bestselling Author, Terry Lynn Thomas has stepped out of the box from the Historical Fiction/Mystery genre and has delivered a suspenseful Mystery/Thriller that is true to its title.

The Betrayal is a look into the life of Olivia Sinclair, a woman of a certain age, a wife and mother, and successful divorce attorney ~ living her life within the comforts of a solid marriage, and a home life built on love, respect and trust. That is, until one fateful day when her world spins completely out of control.

Blindsided and crushed under the weight of an ugliness that renders her broken and hopeless, Olivia realizes she's been living her life amongst a succession of lies and deception. Forced into survival mode at the hands of those she trusted most, she finds herself fighting one of the most challenging cases of her career~ her own.

A story of hidden secrets, money and power, murder, and the quest in bringing the truth out from behind the shadows by exposing it's far reaching web of deceit, left me consumed and reading faster than I could keep up. With its well-developed characters~ ones I admired, as well as the addition of a few I was not intended to, along with its unexpected twists, the story became even more interesting and intriguing to me as the author spun the threads of past and present, and on to a satisfying conclusion that left me wanting more!

I thank Ms. Thomas and NetGalley UK for my copy of this wonderfully written story ~ one I truly enjoyed and certainly recommend to anyone looking for a modern-day 'who-done-it' that will keep you guessing.

I've not read a book by this author before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. OMG! It literally blew me away. It gripped me from the very first page and I could not stop reading until I finished it. Their wasn't one boring page in the whole book. It was fast paced, the plot was consistent and amazing. The characters all gelled together in a believable way. I really can't wait to read the next installment of Oliver Sinclair, I want to know if she and Brian the brilliant private investigator get together, I think they both could do with a bit of happiness in their lives. I will definitely recommend this book to every one. Terry Lynn Thomas is an amazing story teller. Thank you to Netgally and the Publishers for allowing me to read a free copy.

But if I'm being honest it just didn't spark anything with me.
I kept reading in hopes it would pick up..... Nope.
The writing was ok.
The characters were alright.

This book had a cover that caught my eye, and a plot that seemed so interesting! Unfortunately I found that it lacked a bit of detail, but other than that it's an entertaining read.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this E-book to review via Netgalley.

Can you imagine being accused of a murder you didn’t commit and finding out your husband has been cheating on you? This is what Olivia faced. She will work hard, along with a detective and private investigator, to find out who is setting her up for the murder! I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from the author!

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

This book was a bit predictable and formulaic but it’s very engaging and the characters are likable and fun enough that it keeps you sucked in and turning pages through the plot. Solid 3.

Too unbelievable to be believed. A marriage is happy, then its not. A husband is wonderful, then he's not (all occurring in the first two pages). Ridiculous. Characters are clueless and insipid, perfunctory writing and the ending leaves a lot to be desired about the chemistry build-up between the main character and her crush. Overall, nothing with nothing.

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me to read this ARC. I liked the book and am curious about what book 2 in the series is about. I liked that the book was set in California so locations were familiar. I thought it was odd that people were recorded without their knowledge - that is illegal in California. Anyway, the story was good. Olivia does a lot to try to save herself which I liked because strong women are awesome. She doesn't need a man to help her!

Through the sifting of facts, the embarrassment and utter disbelief at her gullibility give way to realizations that the inner strengths which helped her become so successful remain.
