As a divorce attorney, Olivia Sinclair knows the signs of cheating in a marriage, so no one is more shocked than her when she receives a video that shows her husband in bed with a much younger woman. Things quickly get worse for Olivia when the mistress winds up dead and all signs point to Olivia. Will she be able to prove her innocence, or will she be outsmarted by the real murderer?

From the beginning, this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. It takes off running, whether you are ready or not for the ride. I loved the characters of Olivia and the PI Brian. They were well written and well rounded. I did figure out the killer early on in the novel, but I still raced through the novel to see if my suspicions were correct. I also thought that one plotline with Olivia's daughter was tied up too quickly at the end, but, overall this was an engrossing thriller to curl up with on a winter afternoon.

The Betrayal is full of betrayals. Let’s start with the first one.

On divorce lawyer Olivia Sinclair’s 62nd birthday, she receives an anonymous video. It’s a clip of her husband, mega lawyer and frequent TV guest, Richard having sex with his secretary, Sandy Watson. Shocked, grief-stricken and angry, she arrives home to walk into an ill-timed surprise birthday party thrown by Richard and their daughter Denny. Immediately after the party ends, she confronts Richard and asks him to leave. Days later, Sandy is found dead. Olivia, with evidence pointing at her guilt, is arrested. She knows she is innocent. Can she find the real killer? Confined to house arrest, she works with her defense lawyer and a troubled private investigator to learn who could have framed her for this horrible crime. A chance discovery leads to a thrilling, surprising conclusion.

Part domestic thriller, part police procedural, The Betrayal is the first in a new series. I think that explains a somewhat sketchy subplot involving Olivia’s likable daughter Denny and her not so likable husband David. Denny is also betrayed and I think that her story will be part of the next in this series. I am looking forward to it! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ Digital and Terry Lynn Thomas for this ARC.

On her 62 birthday, Olivia learns the truth about her life. After a morning of lovemaking with her husband, Olivia goes to her family law office to finalize the sale of her practice. She has dreamed of this for years - finally able to travel with Richard, a very successful lawyer as well. Olivia opens an email, watches the attached video and her world collapses.
The body of Richard's secretary and lover is found. Olivia is charged with murder and placed on house arrest. With the help of her lawyer and his investigator, Olivia fights to prove her innocence.
I have been looking forward to reading this book - it did not disappoint. Fast paced plot. Great twists. Family drama. Strong female investigator. Culprit was easy to identify - still finished and loved it.

This was my first book by Terry Lynn Thomas. I have found a new to me author. I'm so excited to read the next in this series.

This book was so good. It had so many good things going on. A woman who thought she had it all. A happy marriage. A lucrative law practice. A beautiful daughter. A home that was picture perfect. Was it all a lie?

Olivia Sinclair was a successful divorce attorney who just celebrated her sixty second birthday and retirement. She's married to a very handsome successful attorney, Richard, and has a beautiful daughter,Denny. A lovely home and lots of wonderful friends. But...

Richard is Olivia's husband. He has a problem. He can't seem to be faithful. He thinks it's perfectly ok to have as many affairs as he wants. After all a man has needs... He's truly the definition of a cad. A jerk of the worst possible kind. An adulterous insolent man without a conscious or thought about anyone but himself. I did not like Richard. But could he be so heartless as to set his wife up for murder? Is he that cold and callous?

This book will keep you turning pages. It has so much going on and will keep you guessing until the truth comes out. I do usually figure these out but this time I pegged the wrong person. I didn't guess who the murderer was. The things that Olivia Sinclair goes through and the depths she will go to to prove her innocence and to save her daughter from the same kind of life are endless. I throughly enjoyed this book. It kept me turning the pages until I finished it. I loved how the author pulled all the things together for an ending that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The descriptions are so well written and the feelings so well said. I felt the fear in not only Olivia but her daughter. The cruelty in Richard and in their son in law David. Both men are just cold and believe women are their property.

This was one of the best books I have read. I look forward to many more by this author. Her sequel THE WITNESS is on my TBR list. I can't wait.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #TerryLynnThomas, #HQDigital for this wonderful book. This is my own true feeling of this book.

5/5 stars and a very high recommendation.

Thank You Netgalley and the publisher for this book!

Olivia Sinclair receives a video showing her husband Richard cheating with a secretary named Sandy. Then Sandy was found brutally murdered and the police arrest Olivia as the room in which Sandy's body was found was paid with Olivia's card and there was an email sent through Olivia's email, threatening Sandy. But Olivia denies that and is convinced that someone--is framing her for Sandy's murder and enlists the help of private investigator, Brian.

I really enjoyed reading this book! This was a fast paced thriller with unexpected turns and twists that will leave your heart reeling!!!! I liked the plot, the thrill of the story and as a reader, wonder who is the main perpetrator who want to destroy Olivia and we have so many viable suspects--Richard, or David her son-in-law or entirely someone else? I think the author did a good job engaging the reader into the story. I also like the ending!

This is the first book of the Olivia Sinclair series so I am looking forward to read more from the series--worth five stars!

This was a quick fast paced read about attorney Olivia Sinclair and her quest to prove her innocence in this whodunnit mystery. The storyline grabs you right from the beginning with Olivia receiving a video of her husband with another women. Thus setting the stage for the ensuing drama. Betrayal, cheating & murder all in one with lots of twists and turns along the way.

I liked the character portrayals and the way the author makes them relatable. The characters all have their individual issues they are dealing with that are intertwined in the story. As the story unfolds things are not what they appear to be...

Olivia is devastated by the video of her cheating husband. She plans to confront him with the video and divorce him. What she doesn’t plan is being accused of murdering her husband’s mistress! The storyline kept my interest peaked as the quest for who and why seemed to point one direction yet there was always a new twist coming.

This was my first read by this author and I can’t wait to read more. This is a great first start to a new series.

Thank you to the author & Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A slow burn mystery about a woman, Olivia, who receives a video on her birthday which shows her husband and his mistress together. When the mistress is found murdered, Olivia is arrested and forced to find out who has framed her. This story has a very neatly wrapped up ending.

This was a quick read, more of a mystery than a psychological thriller, in my opinion. It centers on Olivia, who thinks she has the perfect marriage and is planning on retiring and spending more time with her family, when she finds out her husband had an affair. To make matters worse, the mistress ends up being murdered and all signs point to Olivia. The story focuses on Olivia's relationships with her husband, family, and other characters within the book as well as trying to figure out who really killed the mistress.

The book was fast-paced, with action from almost the very beginning. There were a few different ways that this could have played out, and I had an inkling of who the villain might be, but it wasn't the person on my slate. When it all comes out, it made total sense and I thought the story was tied up nicely.

My couple nits with the book were that I didn't understand how the situation with Olivia's daughter and her husband really fit in with the rest of the book- it felt like it needed to be developed further or left out entirely, but not just thrown in there as it was. I also had to suspend my disbelief a little bit that Olivia honestly had no idea that her husband was a cheater as more information comes out throughout the book. That being said, I still enjoyed it.

Overall, I think this is a quick and fun read and would recommend it to those who like mysteries as well as domestic suspense and police procedurals. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Betrayal is a thriller that grabs you from the beginning. Full of seedy characters, ruthless betrayals, and intelligent police and legal procedural, it's an immensely enjoyable read that keeps you on your toes.

When this story began and it said that Olivia was celebrating her sixty-second birthday, I wondered if I would be able to relate to her character and if there would be enough action to keep me engaged. But I needn't have worried. I loved Olivia's character and the fast-paced story provides plenty of action to keep tensions high.

With only 234 pages, I devoured this in one sitting and had a lot of fun doing so. I had a lot of suspicions early on but I couldn't predict how the story was going to play out. It certainly kept me intrigued, and if the series is going to continue with Olivia joining the Truth Project, I'm definitely interested to read more!

I started this last week and like most of us ( here in the UK/, and especially in London and the new ‘Tier 4’ areas ) had a bad weekend and real life took over as more fiction than fiction, I didn’t feel like reading like I normally do nor reviewing tbh and I think a lot of books would have been discarded in the midst of what was announced and processing it all
Yet, when I did read, 10/15 mins here and there, middle of the night with anxiety high this book held its own and did keep me going back
A tale of a marriage gone wrong, revenge, murder, false accusation and proving innocence, for me it was more thriller than psychological but at telling a story and freeing my mind for a few mins it worked whatever the genre was
I guessed the ‘whodunit’ part fairly early on but was one of those books where that didn’t matter, good characters to dislike! and a worthy plot led to a dramatic ending and also ‘tied up’ a sub story loose end
So, this weekend I needed a book I could pick up, fling down and pick back up and this was it, I even forgave the mention of the word ‘mulch’

Got to be a 5 star, maybe it wouldnt be last week or next but for the time I was reading it it deserves that

9/10
5 Stars

This fast paced thriller pulls you right in and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire ride. Very interesting concept and so many betrayals to keep track of with this one.

Olivia Sinclair receives an email with a video attached and thinks nothing of it. It turns out to be a video of her husband with his mistress. Appalled that her husband, Richard, is not only cheating on her, but that she got this email on her birthday, she tries to figure out how to confront Richard. She ends up packing him a bag and throwing him out.

2 days later, the police show up and arrest Olivia for murdering the mistress. Olivia calls in her lawyer and a private detective to help her prove her innocence. But with all the evidence pointed right at Olivia, it will be a tough thing to do. Betrayal after betrayal in this whodunit style mystery.

Olivia gets a video of her husband cheating on her with his secretary. Shortly there after the mistress turns up dead and Olivia is arrested with motive for the crime. Who is the true killer and why would they set her up?

This was one of the most twisty books I have read this year. I really enjoyed reading it. It was fast paced and I flew through it.

Gripping story, had me hooked from the start.
Olivia gets an anonymous email containing a video of her husband having an affair. Unsure what to think or believe, she decides to confront Richard. His reaction tells Olivia that he is not only guilty, but this isn't the first time. Unwilling to stay married to someone who could cheat on her, Olivia prepares to divorce him only to find his lover has turned up murdered and Olivia is being framed for her death.
Great characters, lots of twists and turns and a great ending. Couldn't put this book down.

This book didn't grip me as much as I had expected it to. Maybe because I guessed who the "baddie" was quite early on

On her birthday Olivia Sinclair receives a video showing her husband Richard sleeping with his secretary . A few days later detectives show up at her door and arrest Olivia for her husband’s mistresses murder. With all the evidence pointing towards her Olivia knows she has to prove her innocence herself.

Overall The Betrayal is a well written psychological thriller with some twists and turns along the way and enough suspects to make it an entertaining read

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ Digital Books and Terry Lynn Thomas for the chance to read The Betrayal in return for a favorable review.
Olivia opens an email and discovers proof that her husband Richard is cheating on her. Olivia is used to dealing with marriages in trouble as an attorney but never thought her was in trouble. Olivia throws Richard out and is then accused of killing his mistress! Did Olivia do it? Did Richard do it to set Olivia up? Who else might want the mistress dead? Olivia works to prove her innocence in the thrilling, fast-paced novel. I devoured it and hope there will be more to come.
