I've read a few books that focus on the DNA reveal with siblings, and The Sister Surprise by Abigail Mann covers the topic with British wit. It kept me engaged, and I enjoyed seeing the evolving dynamic between the sisters.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

This was quite different and wonderful, different from other stories. I liked that it was more of a women's fiction which made it interesting. A DNA test and going to Scotland to meet her half-sister got Ava on an adventure. I liked that the author wrote a fulsome story with a few other subplots and secrets. I quite enjoyed it.

This was a fun, fast-paced book. I enjoyed her first novel, and this was just as good. Looking forward to the next!

Ava's discovery of a half sister thanks to one of those ancestry tests was a shock to her but even more of one to Moira. These two are very different in their approach to life and their lifestyles but you know what- they grow to love one another. It's a good positive read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

This book brims with humor, and has a mission of connecting with family. I thoroughly enjoyed it and stayed up way too late turning pages.
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The plot intrigued me, but as time went on, I started to lose a little bit of interest in the story and thought it was dragging. It's a good book, I just wasn't as engaged as I thought I would be.

I really enjoyed this book it is about Ava who along with a work colleague do a DNA test result on air for the company they work for.

It throws something up that Ava did not foresee that she has a half sister who lives in Scotland. As the company she works for decides she must do a follow up of her going to Scotland to find her half sister.

Ava ends up on a farm working for her board and keep to help Kian on his farm some of the antics she gets up to are funny. To help Kian she suggests some ways for him to earn extra money.

Ava meets her half sister but she does not tell her who she is. They become friends and Ava does not know what to do will she tell her who she is or not?

It was a really good book and I would read more of this author.

A nice beach-summer ready! This is a book sitting between Romance and Women's Fiction/contemporary. I picked it up because I found the synopsis intriguing and although it is not the best novel I've read.. it was entertaining, perfect for a cozy afternoon at home or a day at the beach!

I missed downloading this, so I grabbed it on Amazon just now - just too much going on! And man, am I glad I did, and thinking myself stupid for missing this one!
This was an utter delight, a sweet summer read, that had its predictable moments, but the writing and the characters kept me thoroughly entertained throughout. The sister element of it gave a bit of a difference to the standard romance I read, and it was delightful. The journey of self-discovery on top of all the uncertainty of "oh hi, half-sister" was fun and provided a great story.

This was a lighthearted and refreshing read. The story was original, with romance not being at the forefront. After a dramatic DNA reveal, Ava finds out that she has a half sister, Moira, in Scotland and goes to visit the Scottish village where Moira resides.
I enjoyed the bond between the two sisters and was also pleasantly surprised that Kian, the farmer, wasn't Ava's love interest. However, I wish that there had been more depth to certain characters; especially after Ava reveals who she is and without giving away any spoilers, meets people who she is related to. I also found the ending to be quite abrupt and ideally, would have loved to have read more. I would gladly read a second installment of this book.

Finding out you have a sister you never knew about would be shocking enough. Finding out whilst being live streamed is next level. But this is what happens to Ava when her boss encourages her to boost ratings. The problem is her sister lives a totally opposite lifestyle in a small town. When Ava goes to meet her, she finds more than she bargained for. I really enjoyed this novel.

The Sister Surprise is a highly original and fun read. It's classic feelgood: a girl from London discovers she has a sister who lives in a small town in Scotland. So she takes a job at a local farm under false pretences and starts looking for her sister so she can get to know her. The story is slightly predictable: the sister's reaction, the available men, the small town life that turns out to be not so bad... What makes this book stand out is the original writing style and the characters. A great summer read!

Ending up in Scotland on a rundown farm with a hunky fella would be my idea of heaven. Unfortunately it wasn't Ava's and her resulting disappointment and steep learning curve when it came to all things farmyard was hilarious.
The love interest was satisfyingly surprising, and Ava's search for her roots and her father threw up a few more unexpected twists.

Light-hearted and funny, this is a perfect read for a cold winter evening, or a hot day on the beach.

The Sister Surprise by Abigail Mann

Most of this book takes place in Scotland where two half-sisters finally get to meet each other.

This is a good book about two half-sisters finding each other. One is in Scotland, and one lives in London. I enjoyed reading about their Scottish.ways, the farms, and the laqnguage. I recommend this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

A fun and lighthearted read that also deals with some important issues. DNA testing has thrown up some real curveballs in people's lives in recent years and it does exactly that for Ava in this book. She goes on not only a journey to find her half sister but also a journey of self discovery and I love that she put her all into helping Kian out on the farm, even helping him come up with a business plan when he faced ruin.

The bond between Ava and Moira is evident from the off before you even realise that Moira IS Moira and the animosity Ava receives from Jacqui is awful but slightly understandable also, given she's a reminder of a horrible time in Jacqui's life. This has some real laugh out loud moments and I really enjoyed it.

I liked this book. I enjoyed the story and really liked the characters.
Ava finds out she has a sister and goes to Scotland to meet her. She has ups and downs, funny moments, encounters, meets handsome priest... And exploring new life.

It was nice and easy read, I missed more romantic aspect but I understood it was about family.

This is such a charming read, I think this is the first book I’ve read by the author but it definitely won’t be the last. It was funny, well written and so heartwarming. This book is so uplifting it will really make you smile and escapism is what everyone needs most of the time, but even more so this last year or so. This book is the definite prescription you need to escape for a few hours to happiness

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

What's not to love?!

The Sister Surprise follows Ava as she travels to a tiny Scottish island to meet the half-sister she didn't know existed.

There's everything I was hoping for in this wonderful book. Laughs galore! Emotions awry. And a hot priest!!! It was just what I needed to read to get me out of the world as it is. Perfect, thank you.

With thanks to Netgalley and One More Chapter for the chance to read and review.
