DI Kim Stone is fast becoming one of my favourite police novels to devour. The fact that she's not always likeable makes Kim a really interesting character.

This time her team are tasked with the finding the person responsible for the brutal killing of a young mum. No sooner are they embroiled in that case then another body turns up and then another...but this case is far more complicated than anyone could've imagined.

Having read a few of the Kim Stone books now I'm hyper aware of the tiny little clues the author weaves into them, sometimes you'd miss them if you blinked, but that's how you get sucked in and pulled along for the journey. It almost makes you feel like part of the team as you work things out along with Penn, Bryant and Stacey.

It's like the reading equivalent of breaking the fourth wall, you're involved in the story.

Like I said Kim Stone is a complex character, but she is capable of love, she loves her dog, her bikes and her team, I just wish she realised she deserved to be loved to!

Oh and Bryant deserves a medal for being her long suffering partner, never afraid to hold her to account.

Can't wait for the next instalment.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.

Oh my where have I been hiding all this time how have I never picked up a book by Angela before I am ashamed of myself.

I loved Kim Stone the gripping storyline of a murdered mother and her child left followed by another mother murdered and the child missing.

This is reals you in and has you hooked straight away, I really enjoyed this and will definitely be picking up more Kim Stone novels in the future.

This book reminded me of the Prime suspect series and Jane Tennison.

How has this not been made into a TV drama??

Full Mark's from me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I just love the characters and how they have developed throughout this series! Another great read. At the basics of this story it is police solving cases. But there is always an offshoot that shows one of the team as a real person. Next book I assume Stacey will actually get married, but anything could happen in these books.

I always look forward to another episode in the Kim Stone series, and catching up with her and her team.
This time we have seemingly unconnected murders, as well as Stacey investigating a brutal rape, Penn coping with a family loss, Bryant being his usual calming influence, and Kim being dragged into help to protect a minor celebrity.
Siblings and sibling rivalry is at the core of the book, as Penn tries to be strong for his brother, and Kim remembers how she felt about her dead twin.
My only criticism is that I wanted more about the celebrity and her publicist, I felt this part of the story was more a plot device, which could have been developed more.

However, the pace as always is fast, and as the body count increased, the threads all came together to a satisfying end.
Bring on number fourteen!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

13th in the ever popular DI Kim Stone series, and it’s clear that Angela Marsons has bought all the red herrings at her local fish market, because she’s used them to maximum effect in Deadly Cry!

Katrina, a young mother, has gone missing whilst on a shopping trip with her daughter. The child is discovered crying and distraught, clutching her teddy bear, but sadly, some hours later, Katrina’s body is found - her neck had been broken. Who on earth would want to kill a mother out shopping with her young daughter?

Kim needs to get some answers, but a few days into the investigation, another young mother is found dead with a broken neck. This time around though, her 6 year old son who was with her, is missing. This news shocks Kim to the core - not only are they looking for a killer, but it looks like the perpetrator has abducted the little boy too!

Kim knows that time is of the essence if they’re to find the missing child, and when she begins to receive letters from the killer pleading with her to stop him killing again, it’s all systems go for the team - objectives - to find the child and bring him home safely, and to comply with the killer’s wishes to stop him doing it again!

Despite the gravity of this case, there’s still some banter between Kim and her team, which adds much needed lightness and joy to the proceedings, however, amongst all this lively and amusing dialogue, is a really moving scene involving Penn and his brother Jasper, and it was written so beautifully and with such poignancy, that it left me an emotional wreck. Exceptionally well done Ms Marsons!
I also love how she continues her character development in terms of both the personal and professional growth of her team members, especially Penn and Stacey this time around. Stacey is proving to be immensely capable, and she looks to have a highly successful career ahead of her. Another winner for Angela Marsons in this highly addictive series!

Kim Stone is one of my favorite DIs, so a new book in this series is cause to rejoice. She is prickly, opinionated, hard nosed and doesn’t put up with any BS. As she says “I’m barely able to play nice with my own dog and he’s my best friend.”
This time around, a killer is sending Kim letters asking her to stop him. And she’s being forced to deal with a pseudo celebrity arriving for a book signing and a possibly wrong rape conviction.
This is a great character driven series, with a complete team that engages me. All of the individuals have their issues, be it the loss of a family member or an upcoming wedding. My one issue was a hanging plotline concerning Penn and a “close” friend.
Marsons’ books move fast and pack a punch.
I recommend it for fans of Archer Mayor and Joy Ellis, two other authors that know the value of great team dynamics.
My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this book.

Deadly Cry is book 13 in the DI Kim Stone series from Angela Marsons.

"A young girl is found alone in a store without her mother. Hours later the mother's body is found in an abandoned warehouse. Days later a second victim is found killed the same way as the young girl's mother. Kim's team is fractured - Stacey is also working a cold case and Penn is still grieving over the death of his mother. Kim is struggling to make headway in finding the killer. When a mote from the killer is sent directly to Kim she knows that she doesn't have much time before the killer strikes again..."

Marsons has given us another great Kim Stone story. The team dynamics add tension to trying to find a killer. And Marsons hides the killer in plain sight (you will never guess) I like how she links the two cases that seem unrelated.

I appreciate when Marsons will add some new investigative tool to her books. It's graphology here. I recognize that there's a balance between giving the reader enough information and over-explaining. It veers closely to over-explanantion here.

If you're a fan of DI Kim Stone you will enjoy this addition to the series..

Book 13 and this series just gets better and better.

DI Kim Stone and her team are called in to investigate when a young mother is discovered dead with a broken neck. When Kim is then sent a letter from what appears to be the murderer asking for help to stop them from killing again, the team are in a race against time to discover the culprit. Meanwhile Stacey is asked to look into an old rape case which will add further complications for Kim and her team.

Another fast paced thriller from this author. Plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end.

Firstly, each time I read the latest book by Angela Marsons, I think its her best one yet, and this time is no different, however, this latest case may well be the most complex and time sensitive.

When a little girl is found wandering alone with just a teddy in a busy shopping centre, the race is on to find her missing mother. She is found within a few hours; having been murdered nearby.

When a second body appears days later, killed in the same way, the case quickly escalates; even more so when the killer makes contact with Kim, begging to be caught before he is compelled to kill again.

Angela Marsons has absolutely smashed it once again with this, the 13th book in what has to be one of my all time favourite series. With Kim and the team, she has created characters you care about, and look forward to reading about in the next book. She also has a magical gift of making seemingly unconnected cases come together, never more so than in this book.

This has been one hell of a ride, up until 4.30am because I couldn't put it down until I'd finished!!

Yet again Kim Stone saves the day. An intricate case that finds her juggling various cases with an adept hand. Full of twists that saw me working out part of the plot but I carried on as i wanted to see if i was right and how it would be put across to the reader. I was right and i was definitely not disappointed with knowing . The writer may well have given us that clue but the way the it was unwrapped To the reader was outstandingly brilliant. A great instalment in the life and trials of Kim Stone and her team.

Book 13 of the Kim Stone series and absolutely no signs of slowing down. Deadly Cry is another addictive page turner that I read in a day. Once I start these books it is impossible to put them down. Kim and the team are like family now and every part of the story will have an impact on you one way or another. I have said it before and I will say it again, if you have not met Kim Stone what are you waiting for?

This time we have bodies piling up daily, with no apparent connection. Why is the killer writing letters to Kim and asking her to stop him? As always there are plenty of twist and suspects to consider. At the same time Stacey is working an unsolved rape case and she is determined to find out what really happened. On top of all of this, Kim is asked to babysitting a visiting social media celebrity, much to her disgust.

The banter and the interaction of the team is a big part of what makes these books so good. Kim is not the most sociable and friendly person but she always gets the job done. She respects her team and vice versa. I would want them helping me if I was in trouble.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

Absolutely incredible yet again. There are times that a series can start to feel overdone and fatigued. But every time I read another Kim stone I am entranced just as much as I was when I read the first one.

Another superb book by Angela Marsons. I really don't know how she keeps up the quality of her books but I'm really glad she does!
I love the Kim Stone series and feel as if I know the characters and the intricacies of their lives. The story, however, is always the main event. This was a fast paced story with lots of twists and turns and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you Angela Marsons, Bookouture and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book and give my unbiased opinion.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, Deadly Cry by Angela Marsons, which is the latest in the DI Kim Stone series and is now Book 13.
If you have read the others in the series you will know how clever the books are, with there excellent storylines and accomplished police team, led by Kim Stone. I am looking froward to reading Book 14 in the series.
Highly recommended

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the always highly anticipated latest in the DI Kim Stone series. This series goes from strength to strength and once again we are not disappointed. The story flows and it takes it you on an exhilarating roller coaster of a ride through the pages. Characters have developed over the series and we see a little bit more as each book comes along. Fast paced , it had me gripped from the first page to the last. Bloody marvellous!! 5 stars all the way. Roll on the next one. Congratulations to Angela and her team on another sure fire winner.

Murder victims are starting to pile up, and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to how they are being chosen.  Can it really be that they are picked at random?  DI Kim Stone and her team are going to need to have all systems engaged to solve this one.  When the killer posts a letter to Kim, it is clear that the perp is desperate to end the bad behavior, but is unable to do it.  A handwriting expert comes into play, as well as a behavioral expert.  This story highlights just how fragile the human psyche can be.

At this point, Kim's crew is starting to feel like family.  Stacey and Penn are puzzle solvers extraordinaire.  You want them connecting the dots for you.  The back and forth between Kim and Bryant is always a hoot.  Kim seems slightly less acerbic-tongued, but make no mistake - she will still cut you off at the knees if she thinks you have it coming.  Already looking forward to the next one.  Keep 'em coming!

When DI Kim Stone and her team are involved in what appears to be unrelated murder investigations they struggle to find reasons for the deaths. Personal issues are also making life difficult for the team and a face from the past is called in to assist. With so much going on DI Kim Stone is written to by the murderer asking for help but the threads start to become even more tangled as they struggle to make sense of it all.
This book is hard to put down and it proves what a great storyteller Angela Marsons is, The Kim Stone series is one of the best detective series out and once you start to read I promise you will have difficulty putting this book down.

It’s incredibly hard to wrap your head around the fact that Deadly Cry is the 13th book in the DI Kim Stone series. It’s beyond a doubt stupendously impressive for any long running series to get this far. What’s even more impressive is that at no point does this series seem to become stale. One might expect that Angela Marsons will be running out of ideas by now but hell no!

First of all, obviously, there is DI Kim Stone and her team. These characters are like family. When they are happy, we are happy. When they are sad, we are sad. When they hurt, we hurt. Stacey is counting down the days to her wedding but not everything is going as planned. Someone is grieving the loss of a family member. And Kim really, REALLY, needs a side project.

But it’s hard for any of them to deal with the things that are going in their personal lives when pretty much all their time is taken up by a truly complicated investigation. It all starts with the discovery of a young mother’s body. It’s obvious she’s been murdered but why? This quick and functional death looks completely senseless and DI Stone can’t for the life of her figure out what possible motive there could be. The investigation takes a whole other turn when a second body is discovered a few days later and a six year old boy goes missing. Meanwhile, Stacey is working another case that becomes more intriguing with every step.

Plenty going on in this instalment to keep me utterly captivated from start to finish. There is something extremely unputdownable about all the books in this series. Once you pick one up and start reading, there is absolutely no way you’ll stop before you turn/swipe that final page. Deadly Cry is no different. It’s such an addictive read, well-paced throughout and I just flew through it. Considering how badly my reading has been going lately, that’s one of the biggest compliments I can give it right now. There are fascinating insights, one of which I can’t quite discuss as I feel it would be too spoiler-ish but it turned into a truly interesting look at certain dynamics. I know, I can’t possibly be any more vague than that but if you read it, I’m sure you’ll understand what I’m talking about. Also really interesting, the addition of a graphologist. I must admit I’m slightly sceptical about how whirls and loops and dotted i’s or crossed t’s on a page can in any way provide information about the kind of person who wrote these specific words on that page but I still found it fascinating to read about.

I was, as seems to be the norm lately, totally unable to figure out who the killer was. Plenty of twists, red herrings and surprises will do that to a person. The ultimate reveal definitely caused one of those “wait, what?!” moments. So, another fantastic plot. Another book in the series with great characters and brilliant writing. Another absolute treat and in these weird times we are living in, a comfort in a way. And for me, at least, the perfect escape.

I don’t know how Angela Marsons does it but she does, time and time again. I’ve said it before and I’ll gladly say it a thousand times more : as long as she keeps writing these books, I’ll keep reading them. Bring on book 14!
