A pretty normal sort of Cop/Lawyer lesfic romance. Dylan is a cop that has gotten a break in a case and been bumped to Major Case. Briana is the AUSA on that case. Sparks fly when they first meet (before meeting professionally). Then they meet professionally and that makes everything very complicated.

It was mostly definitely a fun read, although near the end I was a little worried that the novel would fall into what I call the angel/demon problem (where one character is perfect, and everything is the other ones fault, even though that's not true and they're both at fault some). Anyway, it got close to that, but, then it actually ended really well and in what I thought was a realistical way too. Fun fun read.

This was a well rounded and well written novel. I liked how a one night-stand turned into more. The imperfections of the main characters were well done. The police/prosecution background was interesting.

Dylan Prescott is a NYPD detective who has as much success at her job and at getting the pretty ladies. Brianna Logan is a successful Assistant United States attorney who put work ahead of everything. that is, until Dylan is assigned into the narcotics ring investigation she is part of. Will their chemistry put their jobs at stake or will they be able to keep their attraction in check?

This is the kind of book I love. Police investigations with some hot/sexy romance story line. Both characters were sexy and strong and interesting. They complemented each other perfectly and their chemistry was palpable. That was only reinforced by the investigation story line.

I will definitely be reading this book again and will be recommending it to friends. Cant wait for the next book from Maggie Cummings.

This is the first book I have read by Maggie Cummings. When I read the synopsis, it sounded interesting and I am glad I decided to check it out. This is a police crime story with romance woven throughout the book.

Dylan Prescott is an up-and-coming detective in the NYPD. She thrives on solving cases and during her time off she charms and beds the ladies. Her sixth sense in looking at crime scenes has garnered her a transfer to an elite taskforce which is trying to take down a major drug ring. The Assistant U.S. Attorney assigned to this case is Briana Logan. She is known to be tough in the courtroom and has recently won several important cases.

When Dylan meets Briana, she immediately wants to pursue Briana. However, Briana is not interested and wishes to stay focus on this case. Since they have to work together, the walls begin to crumble. Maintaining their work relationship is difficult.

Ms. Cummings has written an exceptionally good crime/romance. The plot is solid and has a good pace. The chemistry between the two main characters is definitely well written and believable. It is interesting to see how Briana and Dylan work through their realization that the attraction they are experiencing may be more than a simple “fling”. There is just enough angst to make this a good page-turner novel.

I will certainly add Ms. Cummings to my list of authors whose works I will read in the future. I rate this book with 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is the second book by Maggie Cummings I've read (Brooklyn Summer is the other). this popped up as recommended for me since I read boatloads of mystery/crime/police procedural/thriller novel. This is a romance with police procedural elements. If that is not your thing, this is not the book for you.

If you're looking for romance and sexytimes, the story of Dylan Prescott, NYPD detective, and Briana long, US District Attorney will be a good read. The two meet (sort of) on the basketball court, as Briana watches two teams play from the stands with her friend and roommate Stef. They meet for real at a bar, later. There is, of course, the instant attraction. The fire starts to burn, they exchange some innuendo, and they part for the night after telling one another they were not looking for anything serious,.

Neither of them told the other what they do for a living, but they find out the next day at the office, where Dylan's team is tracking a drug operation, and Brianna is the USDA assigned to the case.

This flirting in the office and at the bars continues, and we get scenes from Dylan's side and Brianna's side until finally the two get together in bed. If you are not a fan of explicit sex scenes, this is not the book for you, unless you want to skim past those pages - if you do, you'll be skimming a number of pages here. If you don't know what packing is...well, you'll figure it out.

There isn't a ton of character development going on here, but to be fair, that isn't really why people read these sorts of books, and most lesrom revolves around jealousy anyhow - which is exactly what happens here, when Brianna leaves the Fed for a job with a well known defense attorney with whom Dylan has some history.

The book does have police work in it - probably enough to justify classifying it as a police procedural and having readers of the genre (like me) pick it up. That portion of the book is fine, and is actually one of the handful off books in the genre that show the more tedious side of police work. It isn't all car chases and busting down doors. Still, that part of the book is thin, story-wise, and the two main characters could have been in any profession, and the story wouldn't be harmed by it.

Overall, a solid three out of five stars.

2,5 stars rounding it to 3
I've started this book with a lot of hope. the blurb was appealing but sadly it failed to deliver.
To be honest, the plot was interesting and I enjoyed the first part, but shortly after, the narrative became extremely redundant, with unneeded explaining.

The characters were a little shallow, even with the backstories, I couldn't feel any depth to them.
Both main characters were a little too immature for what the book was set to be. I absolutely despised Dylan. she was too moody and most of the time she just manipulated Briana to do what she wants.

Many thanks to netgalley and the publishers for my E-copy.

A delicious FF romance that builds tension and heat quite well for 2/3 of the story. I felt like it didn't use the set-up of the story that effectively at the end but overall was a fun read.

While reading, I thought which is more important: work or relationships. On a deeper level, I thought toward the end of our lives who or what will be there with you holding your hand, your career or the people that love you. I also thought about the sense of accomplishment and feel good that can be obtained from the work you do. Can that feeling be replicated outside of the work setting?

Well, this read has Dylan Prescott, skilled and dedicated detective, a player, not looking for a long term relationship and Briana Logan, skilled Assistant United States Attorney, not looking for a long term relationship. Dylan and Briana are brought together to work a sophisticated narcotics ring. While working together, they both realize that "something" special is happening but what if anything to do about it. I thought both Dylan and Briana were interesting characters and it was nice to watch their personalities unfold professionally and personally. It was also refreshing to hear them communicate on such a honest level. That was refreshing. What also helped me enjoy the read was the supporting characters. We could all use friends like Trevor and Stef.

My love for romance knows no bounds. I love when a police crime story still has the romance as its main focus. Too many times in this genre the opposite actually happens with the romance coming in a distant second. Maggie Cummings keeps a hot and sexy romance burning as the main event in her latest novel, Bulletproof.

Dylan Prescott get a fantastic job opportunity. This savvy police detective is rewarded the opportunity to work on an investigation with the Major Case Division working on taking down a narcotics ring. This is a big break for Dylan’s career. On the personal side of things, Dylan is all work and when she does play it’s with no-strings attached. She isn’t a player but the young detective has made her way through the ladies.

Our other main character is Briana Logan is the Assistant United States Attorney in charge of prosecuting the drug dealers that the Major Case Division is trying to take down. Briana is also 100% focused on her career and isn’t really interested in dating women at the moment. Too many of her past relationships have been overly complicated and looking towards the long-term too fast.

Cummings does a great job of giving us two workaholics who cannot help their growing attraction and affection for each other. You have two badasses who are exceptionally intelligent and skilled at what they do. Fir the first time ever someone makes them want something bigger than their careers. This author does an exceptional job a letting their growing attraction take hold and the communication and dialogue between the two was so natural and charming.

Great romance with a side of crime. You have to love a book that puts the bad guys in jail and the lady gets her girl. Maggie Cummings doesn’t let you down with Bulletproof, this is a really fantastic read.

I find this book a bit tricky to review - which is absolutely my fault and in no way related to the book or the author who has done an awesome job in writing. This is an honest case of "It's not the book, It's me." I haven't read many wlw stories so far and ones I've been reading were obviously written by men. So I was sceptical when I first read this one, but I've loved myself a good crime novel with a speck of romance, let's give the book a go, right?
Well, yes and no. I found myself slightly disappointed, because the elemets I am used to in a good thriller or any kind of crime novel were missing. Hadn't I known Dylan was a police officer, I actually would have never guessed so. But this is a purely personal thing - I like some more action in my romance; I guess other people loved the book for the romance part.
I am not saying that the romance part was bad. Quite the opposite. Bri's and Dylan's relationship was one of the most beautiful written ones I've ever come across. And can we please note that there was a pansexual side character? I love Maggie Cummings for that.
I loved the writing, the word pacing, the setting, the characters - I really had a good time with that book. But there was simply too much romance and too little "action" (as in crime solving action, not sex) for my taste. It dominated the book where I was hoping for a bit more actual police/lawyer work being portrayed, especially since the author is a police officer herself.

That’s in exchange of an honest review that I received an ARC of "Bulletproof" by Maggie Cummings from BSB (via NetGalley).
So, here it is !!!

My rating : 2.5 ⭐️

The story sets in New York City and focuses on Dylan Prescott, a newly minted NYPD detective, and Briana Logan, a successful Assistant United States Attorney with several convictions on her résumé. They are brought together when Dylan is assigned to the team investigating a sophisticated narcotics ring.

Guess a lot of people know, by now, that I’m a huge romance and crime stories lover. When I’ve read the blurb of this book, I was thrilled at the idea of having a combo of those 2 story arcs I love written by an author I really like. And reading the good reviews about the book I was hopeful I’d be reading a gem. But …
Don’t get me wrong, that’s not a bad book per se and the good writing style is there … It's just that I really wonder if I’ve read the same book than most of the reviewers… Sadly, this novel didn’t work for me the way I wished and this, for several reasons (not exhaustive list).
° I wasn’t able to click with the MCs who weren’t captivating enough for my own taste. Dylan even got severely on my nerves with all her immature behavior (I wasn’t able to decide if I prefered to just slap her hard in the face or strangle her to make her stop her BS ). This pronounced inmmaturity & the annoying and misplaced jaleousy inducing a lot of useless drama.
° the repetitiveness of the story, which became very clear after the first third of the book.
° the total lack of angst, action and mystery in the the crime storyline despite the supposedly "solid police work" mentioned toward the end of this novel where the team including the MCs was supposed to investigate a sophisticated narcotics ring. I would have prefered a more complex and dominant crime storyline & a more cadenced pace because, even if there's a progression in time, the pace is, in addition, definitely too slow to keep you on the edge of your seat and it makes this book quite aggravating.
° the totally annoying and, yeah, ridiculous black moment.
° the unhygienic (but supposedly erotic) intimate encounters.

If I had to make a very short and quite different version of my review, it’d be something like this :
- Did I enjoy this book? => Not really. Sadly it wasn't up my alley like I thought it would be
- Did I find the characters believable? => Nope
- Is this book now included in my "must be re-read"-list? => Nope
- Will I purchase the paperback? => Nope
- Would I read another book by this author? => Yes because she’s an author I appreciate a lot.
- Would I recommend this book => I’ll let people use their free will to read the novel, or not …

While I found writing to be a bit uneven at times, it ended up being a nice little romance. I thought with the criminal backdrop, it would all be a but serious and hard, but it was pretty light and the characters were kind of adorable with one another. All very refreshing and likeable.

Dylan is a NYPD detective, who overheard some potentially important information and has the opportunity to prove her hand in another department. Briana is an assistant district attorney who just happened to be the head lawyer in charge of this case. Briana and Dylan hit it off, but with pressure between work, society, and themselves, can they make it work?

I am a huge fan of police and investigation type tv, and romance so the combo of these two together completely interested me! I love the communication between the two women, while it wasn’t always perfect, it was nice to see them having actual issues, conflict, and also resolution in a very real way. The background characters are also really likable and I could definitely see this becoming a book series or even a movie.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read this arc, I really enjoyed it!

Newly minted NYPD detective Dylan Prescott has everything going for her. New promotion, a job she loves, and an endless supply of interested ladies, if only she can keep them casual and not interested in anything more. Assistant United States Attorney Briana Logan doesn’t have time for anything serious and wishes she could just find a casual situation to let off some steam. When sparks instantly fly with Dylan, it seems like the perfect opportunity, until they find out how closely they’ll be working together on a case. Briana is set on keeping things professional, but Dylan makes her want to break all the rules.

This was essentially a one-day read for me. I started it last night before bed, and here we are, a good two and a half hours left in my shift, annnnd I’m done. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance; it’s just what I needed. I loved the tension building between the Dylan and Briana, and even though the initial tension is broken a little sooner than some works, it didn’t flatline the story at all. There was still plenty of places for their discreet relationship to go, and with the case still unfolding, it kept things interesting.

I loved their dynamic. I don’t want to say too much on that as to not spoil the lion share of the story, but I do love little everyday scenes of domestic bliss, and there are plenty peppered throughout this book. It’s out now, so if you’re looking for something to warm up your winter, definitely check it out.

I really enjoyed the romance there was a nice balance between the romantic storyline and the crime storyline. It got a bit repetitive later on, it was definitely stronger during the first half. The characters were easy to get into and like, it’s just a shame the story was a bit slow at times.

I really like Maggie Cummings. It wasn't until this year that I really year after I read Brooklyn Summer that I started to look at some of her older books. So when this one came up, I eagerly signed up to read it. It did not disappoint. Cummings knows how to create some great chemistry in her romances. There for sure is heat between Dylan and Briana who meet before they start working together. That working relationship put a stop to all things Dylan and Briana but of course that simmering heat still exist. Normally I am not a huge fan of angsty romances, but I didn't mind the angst here. I think it added to the romance. As I read this one, I just found that I really liked both mains. As I think about it, Cummings has created likable characters in her previous romances. That really is a hard thing to do. Bulletproof has it all -suspense, chemistry, sex, angst. Just a well written romance.

Oh how I love cops and lawyers books. This one is so good, it makes me smile. It's a book you cannot put down. The action but most importantly action between the main characters is what makes it going. From the day they met, till the planing. It all comes to final end. I can only guess, but ended so lovely I feel like I know.
Great read!

This was a good read. Both main characters were well developed and complex with their insecurities and flaws, and they had amazing chemistry. The law enforcement storyline was realistic and engaging without being over the top. Supporting characters were also all well written - no cliches in sight. Overall a well written book.

I am a big fan of romances and also of crime stories. Maggie Cummings mixes both perfectly together.

When Dylan Prescott, an NYPD detective, gets the chance to join the investigation team, which tries to bring down a drug dealer ring, she jumps at this chance immediately. Briana Logan is the Assistant United States Attorney assigned to this investigation.

Both MC's are in a place in their lives where career comes first. Briana is convinced that she can't have a healthy relationship if the job always comes first. Dylan is just playing the field, she doesn't do relationships. When they first met at a dance location, they felt the attraction from the first second they laid eyes on each other. But when the next day at work they both are placed on the same investigation, it is like a cold shower. They can't jump into bed together and work on the same case, that could impair judgment. But the more often they see each other, the harder it gets to hold back.

When the two can no longer resist and embark on a secret affair, life becomes more colorful and sexy on the one hand, but harder, on the other hand, the secrecy makes everything a bit more complicated. I like the storyline of a secret love affair. Started as a non-committed affair, it doesn't take long until feelings are involved and the affair develops more and more into a love story. The chemistry was hot and the sparks flying high like in a big fire until they finally are trying to douse the flames in their bodies with hot and steamy sex.

But actually, the problems only start after they have found a supposed solution. In this time we learn a lot about the two MCs when we sit in Dylan's and Briana's heads and witness what's going on in them.

Although police work must take a back seat to romance, the investigation is excitingly well integrated. The author works in the police force herself and brings her own knowledge and experience to the story, as an added bonus.

This author has the gift of weaving police work and romantic interests together so that you are gripped by both strands of the story. And I love this combination, it is like a delicious apple pie and as a dot on the "i" (as we are saying) whipped cream on top of it. Delicious.

Highly recommended, an easy and exciting book. I hope we get more from Briana and Dylan.
My rating 5 stars.
