This graphic novel blew me away. With engaging artwork, interesting characters, and a tightly driven mystery narrative, I couldn't put it down. When I was first granted this arc, I did not have a chance to read it before it was archived, so I recently picked it up from the library instead. Not only did I read the first volume, but I inhaled the whole series. Excellent work to everyone. I will highly recommend it to my graphic novel readers.

This book and the following sequels are absolutely amazing. The representation alone is greatly appreciated. Chris blends humor into well known creature designs while weaving an adventurous story.

I absolutely loved this juvenile graphic novel! It had me turning the pages until the very end. The story was just so funny and it had me wanting to know what was going to happen next. A summer camp that is hosted on an island that is covered in fog where there have been mysterious happenings and creature sightings? Count me in! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a book that has a mystery and an adventure all in one!

Secrets of Camp Whatever was a fun read! I read this with my child and she loves graphic novels. It was eerie and mysterious and was the perfect amount of spooky for us! I loved that the main character, Willow, was brave but also was a way for children to learn more about deaf people and hearing aids if they aren't around the deaf community in real life. Overall, this graphic novel entertained my daughter and myself and I would recommend it to my colleagues who teach middle grades to add to their classroom libraries! Thank you for the ARC.

Absolutely delightful! Weird and joyous and packed with shenanigans. I loved the cast of characters, and also really appreciated the deaf representation. I would definitely return for volume 2!

A group of kids go away for a summer camp they will never forget.

The main character in this book is a spunky girl named Wil, short for Willow.
Her hearing aid batteries came up missing when the camp snacks mysteriously disappeared. Her quest to find them revealed that Camp Whatever might be a little more than what she expected.

Werewolves, Vampires, Witches, Goblins, Gnomes, and so much more.

Imagine you move to a strange town that is constantly covered in fog and your Parents want you to go to the summer camp would you be excited or not keen? Well Willow finds herself doing these things. While at the camp she realises that things are not what they seem to be and with fellow campers her adventure begins.

This was a good start to a new Graphic Novel Series and would be just right for this time of year and whoever reads it will have a great time. I just want to talk about the artwork was muted and really suited the story.

For all the above reasons I am giving Secrets of Camp Whatever Vol 1 4 stars.

The plot of the story begins with Willow being sent to a summer camp, which is Nowhere (name of place) this camp is known for creatures like Big Foot and campers going missing. Yet the parents feel it would help her to socialize more. Willow is deaf and uses sign language to communicate. Mysterious things start happening around the camp and Willow and her friends must figure out what's happening before it's too late.

I like the illustrations and the specially abled representation that were mentioned here. I did feel that the story was not fast paced enough.

The author and illustrator did a great job in bringing a unique story to their audience and the target audience will definitely find the book wholesome and intriguing. My rating would be 3.75 stars

I received the arc of this graphic novel from Net Galley.

This was a super cute graphic novel.  The story was really interesting, and I liked the inclusion of all the fantasy creatures within the camp.  It made me wonder what other kinds of creatures we were going to encounter as the series continues.  Willow was a really interesting character.  I enjoyed seeing her figure out what was going on with the camp, and trying to investigate certain circumstances.  It was a pretty high stakes story, which was really fun.  I'm excited to see where the story goes next.

Camp Whatever is a fun graphic novel about a girl who goes to summer camp, which is home to some odd characters.

The story was fun and not predictable, since it went in some unexpected directions. I didn't fully connect to the story however and probably won't continue the series

A really fun YA graphic novel with some spooky vibes. Loved how the main character was deaf and and her needs were fought for (and what she didn't need was also fought for). I'll definitely be checking out book 2.

This was a sweet middle school spooky novel.

My niece adored the art style and the characters were super relatable as well.

Cannot wait to get my hands on the next in this series.

Definitely recommend this age appropriate adventure novel

I read this with my twelve and ten year old daughter, and we all enjoyed it very much.

It’s a perfect combination of fun and slightly creepy filled with endless mist, fog leeches, gnomes, stacks of goblins, cheesy snacks and s’mores.

We also really enjoyed the inclusion of a deaf protagonist and the super power of sign language.

We are looking forward to the follow up - with so many possibilities of where this story will go next.

This was a fun, fantasy, middle grade, graphic novel. I am excited to read book #2, the good news is I don't have to wait long because I already have a copy! I cannot wait to see what happens to Willow and her friends in the next camp adventure. Will Emma be affected by the bite? Will Willow's new house be affected by the magical creatures? Will Willow's dad find out that the missing camper is no longer missing? So many questions!

I love finding seasonal reads for my students because I think a lot of times they don't try specific genres thinking they won't be hooked on them. This is a great #spookyseason read. I like focusing on scary/spooky stories during September and October to show students there is a different level of scary stories. This one has some scary parts, some suspense and it also has humor! A great combination for the kid that doesn't want to read something that is scary on every page!

My 10-year-old found this book to be very engaging. This story was able to hold her attention. The level is definitely age-appropriate and very well-written. I recommend this as an excellent book for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. This is a very beautifully illustrated book.

Willow is the main character whose parents moved to the middle of Nowhere and now she is going to an unknown-named camp. Mysterious things happen while she is at camp, which keeps the reader turning the pages. Can't wait to see what the next novel brings.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters.
