DNF at 66%. I skimmed for about a half hour before giving up.
This book could cut at least 100 pages. Predictable. Romance between detective and FBI. Strong lead on wrong guy who is found dead when they arrive with search warrant.
Jessie's death held my attention - the killer's invitation to join the game 20 years later, discovering the possibility of over 20 additional kills.
This book just dragged.

So I won't lie, initially, this book seemed to have everything I loved: an FBI agent returning to their home town, an unsolved murder from years ago and new murders with a suspicious pattern. However, the outcome of this book was just a little meh to me.
I think the one thing I am finding hardest is that I can't quite put my finger on what I didn't like. The writing was okay, the characters were average and I didn't think the build-up to the reveal was bad. I just didn't connect to this book as much as I expected to and I wasn't gripped by the overall mystery that occurred.
I felt like Tori was a bit bland and I wanted more from her and the events were kind of predictable, especially towards the end.

Overall, I'm finding this book hard to review because I don't particularly have many thoughts on it. It was an okay thriller and I think some would really enjoy this but it didn't do much for me.
I received this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t very often read crime thrillers but I found myself being drawn to this one, and I’m glad I gave it a go as I really enjoyed it. I did find parts of the book a little hard to stay gripped with, however for the most part it was an easy read, with plenty of explanations and character building. I’m looking forward to more of the series when they are available.

Extremely interesting psychological thriller, I delved in and never looked back. It was a page turner until the last words. I thought the character and plot were extremely realistic and relatable.

Full review online in late November.

SILENCED GIRLS is a good beginning to this new thriller series by Roger Stelljes. Tori Hunter is lured back to her home town to look into the abduction of a woman, twenty years after her own twin sister mysteriously disappeared. Now with the FBI, Tori has dedicated her life to finding abducted children. She is career focused and doesn’t have time for anything outside of work.

I really enjoyed the character of Tori as well as a number of the supporting characters in this book. It took a little bit to determine the responsible party, but I did. Even with guessing who it was, it still didn’t make the book less enjoyable or make me want to put it down. I am interested to see how Stelljes is going to continue this series with the way he ended it. Recommend to readers of mystery/thrillers.
