Having read all the previous books in this series I was looking forward to the latest installment. I do sometimes wonder in a series such as this, how much involvement the author has, and whether a ghost writer takes over, as sometimes you just get a different feel as to the style of the book. Having said that Carol and Jude are back to once again solve a mystery with a whole motley crew of suspects as well as the usual mix of locals. A good easy read, as part of the series, but perhaps not a great standalone read.

Another very solid addition to the Fethering series by Simon Brett. I have read this series from the start and “Guilt at the Garage” his 20th entry was as enjoyable as the first. There is an interesting mystery involving many of the usual village inhabitants, and some new characters, as amateur sleuths Carole Seddon and Jude solve the mystery. From the start of the series the two sleuths are portrayed as very different personalities and the oft times difficulties this affords has remained. In particular Carole has such a prickly nature and, honestly, so many issues a good therapist could help with, but Mr Brett has resisted “fixing” her personality. I look forward to the next installment to this series.

A Spiral Into Death....
The twentieth Fethering mystery and as fresh and joyous as ever. It starts with an apparent case of vandalism and swiftly spirals into a death. But is it a tragic accident or a grisly murder? Neighbours and sometime amateur sleuths, Carole and Jude, are as joyfully interfering as they ever were but can they solve this latest mystery? Clever, witty and wholly entertaining.

I really enjoyed this book all the way through. It had a really good plot, great main characters and really keeps you hooked on the plot. I would highly recommend this book.

I am always thrilled to join Carole and Jude on a new adventure and this was not a disappointment. Although the 20th in the series, the writing remains as fresh as in the beginning.
Middle aged neighbours Carole and Jude love nothing better than a bit of gentle sleuthing. When Carole’s auto mechanic dies in mysterious circumstances, Carole and Jude start searching for clues. The young Thai bride; the jealous bookkeeper; or the over protective daughter-in-law? All appear to have not only means, but motive. The ladies sift through the clues to a satisfying ending, although the last sentence has me worried.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy. Highly recommend the entire series.

Shockingly, for Fethering, the one night Carole Seddon fails to put her trusty Renault in the garage, it is vandalised. Being the creature of habit that she is, she takes it to Bill Shefford for repairs. Later, Shefford is killed in what appears to be an industrial accident while Carole is on the premises for further work on her car.

This being Fethering, it's never that straightforward.....

Motives abound within the Shefford family, Carole receives threatening letters, Jude's healing embroils her with other problems, they have new neighbours - and Carole gets a new mobile phone!!

Yet another packed instalment in the brilliant Fethering saga
